Plymouth Cuda Repower Continues! Long Tube Header Frustrations!

- Headers are a great addition to almost any hot rod car or truck, unfortunately they often times are also a nightmare when it comes to fitment! In our customers 1968 Plymouth Barracuda that's exactly what we have, something that is "supposed to fit" but does anything but!
To make matters even worse and more complicated on this Mopar A body platform in order to get the headers installed, you have to remove the motor, and disconnect steering linkage. Every. Single. Time. Test fit, see what needs "massaged" and do it again. Eventually you either win, or give up.
Or, call an audible and use something else!
Borgenson has been doing my steering for 40 years never a failure. Best upgrade ever
They Started in Aviation I was an AP mechanic and used there products the best and they built me a custom collapsible steering shaft for off road racing should I hit a tree at 100 mph don't want to be impaled by a Steering wheel.
@stephencarter1442 they make good stuff. Love that you are an A&P
Round 2...May want to watch the oil filter fitment also... good content and thanks...🔧🔧👍

Borgeson steering box good ideal a couple of inches smaller around
I like the factory replacement steering box 20:1 ratio. easier to turn wheel in tight situations (I driven with my Borg and dont like bending steering wheel in half to turn around car)along withtti pipes, I had e body and the mounts were not tiny like the ones shown it was more like the Taller ones shown.
Used Doug’s headers a little tight but shimed left side..
I don't have many friends with Mopars, but every one of them bitch about headers! lol
Same, no headers, no hirise.
I never had a problem with my headers on my 69 barracuda
I've never used header gaskets on my chrysler smalls. Always go to local parts store and use factory gaskets. More meat for sealing.
Push sideways on the collector until the header clears the torsion bar
@@michaelerickson1518 good idea. Give it some adjustment through leverage.
Flowtech made in China. But alot better. You also have to compensate for engine mount flex. Nice work .
If that was my car I would run duals off factor exhaust manifolds, sometimes headers are not a good choice.
I hate to love headers..,or love to hate headers.....ya know what I mean
Wow! I would tell the owner to go with shorties if a header is a must have. Or use the stock manifolds! The juice is definitely not worth the squeeze.
@TheGto389 Headman Headers makes a nice tight block hugger that would work nicely. But it was an order item. I chose these, and they are a far better choice than the eBay units. I think some leverage will solve the pass side alignment and torsion bar contact issue.
The reduction of weight by loosing the cast manifolds is the biggest gain in this part of the project. Cheers! Thanks for watching.
Could have sworn you said the headers were made in America. Lol
A set of Flowtech headers made in the USA, oops.
This much problem with small block , how ever can you ever do headers with big block
Dodge truck has a thicker mount
I have 2 cars that are Identical, same engine same mounts only one engine sits a half inch lower, guess it was whoever welded the cross-member together at the factory made the difference
One was built Tuesday before lunch... the other, Friday after lunch.
What an absolute waste of time and money.
Opinions vary. Everything is a learning experience. Cheers!
