My Empoleon in D/P/Pt/BD/SP can easily wreck the Elite Four with moves like: Surf Ice Beam Drill Peck Steel Wing

There is something quite relaxing about cruising through the game steamrolling all the NPCs and not having to actually think, when that's what you're in the mood for. The keyword here, though, being 'NPCs'. Well the chances of protect working 2 times is fairly low as the chance of it working is lowered by 2/3, and with my experience with Pokémon that's a no go.

Level 1 mons are kind of easy to deal with if you have Taunt and then followed by combo-type attack moves on your team but the Legendaries almost always do not have combo-type moves at all so they (legendary spammers) CANNOT counter this strat no matter what they do.
Or literally a multi-hit move to break the sash. Or rocks/spikes They're easy to counter... If you have moves other than 4 attacks of different types of the strongest power that Mon can learn.

After watching this video a couple times, the irony of the second battle was that he said "I won't even wish you luck" when his Lugia slept the max amount of turns and lost. Talk about true karma there.
Most of the strategies aren't even that great. My man's Alakazam walled the cottoned until the end of time after it revealed no endeavor. The only strategies used that are usually banned are sheer cold Articuno and moody smeargle. SD Zoroark doesn't sound that great tbh. Sub salac Kommo'o is a fun set though

Don’t get me wrong it’s still a good game but when it could be completed in an hour on first day of release and dex completed in less than 3 I wouldn’t go to lengths to call it a great game as far as pokemon games go. The children rpg thing is kinda meh. Sure, it’s true. But at the same time, competitive is on the more complex side of things. For instance, if you’re coding an ai to play competitive Pokémon, there are far more possible situations to account for than the entirety of chess in just the first turn.

@@killa-sadie Most likely is that they were holding a Flame Orb, which automatically burns the holder after one turn. Some do that because they get boosts from their ability if they have a certain status effect of some sort (such as Gliscor holding a Toxic Orb for Poison Heal). Others will do it so they dont get affected by other ones such as sleep, paralysis, or poison

I always wondered how most people, even players who recognize temp and know he uses unconventional and gimmicky tactics, never see this shit coming and try to counter it but this video really made me understand. This kid had literally never seen a Zoroark before in his life and had no idea what it did, I always just assumed that a competitive battle simulator for pokemon meant that everyone on it had a general understanding of all pokemon, moves, abilities etc. But now I finally get the impression that a free and convenient way to build entire teams and battle other people online could attract a ton of kids and folks who have a very casual understanding of the game and can't afford or invest the time to play the actual mainline series. It doesn't justify how angry and rude they can get mid battle but I kinda get it now.

Well the chances of protect working 2 times is fairly low as the chance of it working is lowered by 2/3, and with my experience with Pokémon that's a no go.

Level 1 mons are the perfect additions to the “Those who don’t know” vs “Those who know” meme.
Level 1 mons are kind of easy to deal with if you have Taunt and then followed by combo-type attack moves on your team but the Legendaries almost always do not have combo-type moves at all so they (legendary spammers) CANNOT counter this strat no matter what they do.
Or literally a multi-hit move to break the sash. Or rocks/spikes They're easy to counter... If you have moves other than 4 attacks of different types of the strongest power that Mon can learn.

Most of the strategies aren't even that great. My man's Alakazam walled the cottoned until the end of time after it revealed no endeavor. The only strategies used that are usually banned are sheer cold Articuno and moody smeargle. SD Zoroark doesn't sound that great tbh. Sub salac Kommo'o is a fun set though

@@killa-sadie Most likely is that they were holding a Flame Orb, which automatically burns the holder after one turn. Some do that because they get boosts from their ability if they have a certain status effect of some sort (such as Gliscor holding a Toxic Orb for Poison Heal). Others will do it so they dont get affected by other ones such as sleep, paralysis, or poison

I always wondered how most people, even players who recognize temp and know he uses unconventional and gimmicky tactics, never see this shit coming and try to counter it but this video really made me understand.
This kid had literally never seen a Zoroark before in his life and had no idea what it did, I always just assumed that a competitive battle simulator for pokemon meant that everyone on it had a general understanding of all pokemon, moves, abilities etc. But now I finally get the impression that a free and convenient way to build entire teams and battle other people online could attract a ton of kids and folks who have a very casual understanding of the game and can't afford or invest the time to play the actual mainline series.
It doesn't justify how angry and rude they can get mid battle but I kinda get it now.
The massive skill gap between beating the game, and being good and competitive gameplay is what throws his kids off.

I also had the misfortune of playing against a guy who knew all the ins and outs of breeding, and EV training whereas I just got my Pokemon from the routes they were found

@@swiftstrike4044 basically Zoroark has the ability to transform into I think the first Pokémon in your party. Unlike ditto tho Zoro only takes the appearance of the Pokémon and not the type and moves. So basically Zoroark changed his skin in a video game.

I had the exact same realization ...... Granted Cynthia's milotic did give me a lot of trouble when I was a kid and playing through platinum and bulky water mons were actual threats in gen 4 .

Fr, every time I see a fighting type just "nope" a psychic attack, my first thought is usually "wait, what ability does that again?" Followed by "Oh, Zoro" when it uses nasty plot

This is why you should run something with a multi-hitting move on your team. Gotta make sure FEAR isn't an issue.
