Napoléon III is exactly the type historical figure who would be blaming the game for his loss
Yep that is Napoléon III alright.
Everyone keeps joking about Napoléon the third, but it was wife who always intervened in the miltery affairs, he wanted his generals to decide on thier own, after realising he was not good at handling military affairs in the Italian campaign.

Hopefully animations could be better in the future, but gameplay-wise, looks incredible now.
This is exactly like the Age of Empires 2 Opening cinematic. The 2 generals sitting by the fire playing their game, while the battle rages on to show their decisions.

2 things
1. The textures shimmer from an angle and there is too much aliasing, I hope a TAA solution will be available. Even fxaa would had helped.
2. Considering how most stuff is 2d (albeit 3d rendered) I hope it will be able to run even with intergrated graphics

This actually reminds me somewhat of the game Napoleon 1813.
I do wonder why the choice for octagonal selection areas was made, as hexagons tessellate much more nicely - cue Hexagons are the bestagons.
Can't make Frontlines with hexagons. Bad for tactics. Was initially made for squares and octagons are squares with the corners cut off. Made for UI purposes.

A mostly unexplored period (Victorian Warfare), a criminally underrated form of strategy game (Hexagonal Turn Based) and an accessible, free, low spec title. This has so much potential!

Do you plan to add other nations of the period on the long run?
Maybe some Italian factions, other German minors, Spanish etc?
Right now the base nations are: Second French Empire, Prussia/North German Confederation, British Empire, Russian Empire, Sardinia-Piedmont/Kingdom of Italy, Austrian Empire/Austro-Hungarian empire, Ottoman Empire, and a Union and Confederacy DLC. The name of the nation changes depending on the time period. They haven't added Austria or the Ottoman's yet. They want to add new nations down the line and I think they will start the Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina.
