Hey guys, just a heads up. Don't bring anything in modern politics into the comment section. It's just gonna create conflict where it isn't needed. Thanks!
Loved this! Can’t wait for the next one! Also, my theory on part of Heero’s training: He was shown the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia clip of Frank saying, “Suicide is badass!” on repeat for a week straight.
To add to the parallels between Oz and the Titans, the first major Oz base we see is Lake Victoria, and that is only a few miles away from Mt. Kilamenjaro.(The Titans HQ)
I really wish the show had taken the time to put in the pilot backstories. I recall the creators mentioning they didn't know where to put it, but I find that to be a little ridiculous. The mid-series slog would have been a perfect spot. They can rethink what brought them into the war, and reassess their motives.
I think we get the fact that these grunt suits are named after constellations. Leo's travel in packs like lions, Aeries fly through the air, Tauros has horns and Virgo's are untouchable due to the deflector shields.
Never realized wufie's mobile suit was named after his wife, i always found it odd that he talked to his gundam like it was a real person and now it makes sense.
So Heavyarm has a helicopter gunship mode. Seriously, why wasn't that in the show ? Because that makes my already favorite Gundam in Wings, even more awesome.
@BigMicahC these are without a doubt the best video's i've ever had the pleasure of seeing regarding gundam lore. i look forward to seeing more of your content. Blessings 🙏
I wasn't aware of Endless Waltz being a different timeline. I was under the impression they were all the same timeline as the Episode Zero comics, which covered the pilots' histories; and the Ground Zero comic, which covered why the gundams looked different in EW.
Great breakdown and something I'm very appreciative of is your clarification of the gundanium armor that not only was it obviously bullet proof but also gave an anti beam coating to the Gundams. I always thought the Leo suits only had access to the mega cannon which was a space only weapon and that's why the rifles seemed useless as I thought they fired bullets. Because as I've found other channels breaking down the spechs of the Leo they all bring up beam rifles which didn't make sense, because why do the rifles do nothing but the Tores beam guns do. Now hearing the anti beam coating it all makes sense now. Many thanks.
That was unexpected considering Wing is the Abridged UC Timeline from a certain perspective especially with how it concludes and wraps up later. But OK! I sooner would have guessed After War Gundam X as a more 'Thematically fitting' Bad End Timeline for the OYW but I dont write the Watch Order.
Oh that's really funny. I've been watching Gundam as a series for the first time in the last month or so and I literally just finished Wing like yesterday. It was a bit of a slog and I can't really say I liked it but I'm gonna watch this vid too (your UC series helped push me into liking Gundam) cause I'm interested in seeing your takes on Wing!
It's still baffling that they made Endless Waltz an AU if an AU given there's neither in media information telling you that it's its own setting, nor is there and logical reason to do that from a creative or business standpoint. It's no wonder most are unaware it's its own timeline given it's even more egregious then the Origins timeline.
Love this video and the deep lore for it and looking forward to the next one and its great to see the mobile suits in action and speaking of the gundams I love what we got in terms of the main 5 gundams Also OZ= Cool Capes Club. Wing Gundam: my first gundam figure as a kid and my favorite outside of the transformation feature its amazing to see especially with the lovely paint job and weapons although I do feel bad when its not in use and its left at the bottom of the sea. Deathscythe Gundam: when talking about stealth its the best gundam and the definition of a reaper its also the Gundam Batman would use. although I will say interms of the Cosmic Era the Forbidden Gundam is a knockoff of this beauty and no one would ever pilot that horrible faker its a Mobile suit sin that's forbidden. HeavyArms Gundam: Talk about a gundam thats overly compensating for something but definitely a gundam with fire power though when is it enough or not enough guns and missiles though imagine if it had roses then we have a gundam that has guns and roses. Sandrock Gundam: A decent looking gundam though I will say for a gundam that uses sickles for melee weapons instead of Beam sabers its pretty cool. Shenlong/Nataku Gundam: My second Gundam figure I had and it does a better job then Dragon gundam in terms of paint and function.
Are you going to cover the versions of G-Unit Tiel's Impulse is also interesting there. Some of the other characters from Episode Zero that you didn't mention are Roch and Valder from G-Unit's OZ Prize, it also positions it that Heero is actually a cousin of Odin and Odell from there as well (Their father changed his name because of his brother becoming known as an assassin). From some of the tech stuff and guide magazines, you also have the entire thing about part of the reason for the timing of Operation Meteor is that the Taurus was coming into production for deployment and the Leo was rapidly becoming an obsolete mobile suit by that point in the timeline, the attack was timed to start before the Alliance could upgrade their forces. There is also a third timeline that comes from Wing, though it breaks off after the series and is mentioned in some things but never really went anywhere with resources being moved elsewhere, but it was essentially a setup to have a story that would have interactions between the main Wing cast and G-Unit's character, though parts of it are referenced in Frozen Teardrop though unexplained in how...the main thing there is that Roche is the one to find and pull Milliardo out of the wreckage and salvages Epyon, but doesn't manage to get it functional again before Marimaia's rebellion begins. That timeline also has Gundams Asclepius and Griepe intervene in the duel between Wing Gundam Lucifer and Wing Gundam Seraphim Custom in orbit, before the appearance of Wing Gundam Zero at the end where Tiel's Impulse ended. Unfortunately, it only went as far as a prelude that set things up for a different Endless Waltz effect for it
Personally like the EW version of the Wing Gundam more. A small part of that is the extra ammo for the buster rifle it can carry. Instead of 3 shots, it can shoot up to 9 times.
The naming convention for Wing is related to numbers. I don't know if your joke about Milliardo/Zechs is in awareness to that or not. Duo/Two, Trowa/Three, Quatre/Four, Zechs/Six, Noin/Nine, Treize/Thirteen, Milliardo/Million.
What I don't get is why Meiran kamikazed that Leo to begin with. Was the Dober gun out of ammo? Did she not have a beam saber of her own? Seriously, why did she do that?
@@BigMicahC I could've sworn she was the one doing the fighting before Wufei showed up. I need to go try and see if I can read it again, I must have missed something.
Fun fact, though I guess this is pretty much common knowledge in Gundam. Shenlong in Chinese is written as 神龍, which literally means "Dragon God". My first exposure to Gundam Wing is not really the anime, but in one of the SRW games, where Gundam Wing is one of the roster playable in that. Then afterwards it is the anime, cause I was curious about the Gundams, and the awesome music soundtrack of Endless Waltz also helps. Though while I like the Endless Waltz designs, I really feel disappointed that the Gundams there feels more like a downgrade compare to the original series, especially when you played the SRW games.

The Tallgeese is the worst thing about Wing, other than the wing itself (Go team Deathscythe), i've alway felt that tallgeese's existance and the fact oz has always had it a bit of a cop out. I'd have loved to have seen Zechs and Treise strategise on how to beat the gundams, not just be given a suit that in almost every way overpowers the gundams.
The only time the Tallgeese had an advantage over the gundams was when Heero dinged up Trowa's Arms vs Zechs at the Antarctica base. But in Heavyarms defense, Heero is a trash pilot. Between losing an arm and half his face in the opening credits, he lost his gundam, got seen by the most annoying character in that show, failed in recovering his gundam, AND GOT CAPTURED in like 2 episodes. Rant aside, the Wing Zero had more of a reputation of its power when Trant faced off against Duo, for example, or when Quatre went to space and started, "packing everyone's shit", including Trowa and sissy-pilot-wannabe, Heero

When you get to them keep episode 9 and 10 in mind when it comes to Zech and Heero
Let's go. Treize is my favorite anime villain and I was hoping someone would go more into Wing so that he could get even more light shed onto him
Treize isn't a villain just a man with beliefs

But What is evil anyway?
Is there reason to the right?
Without evil there can be no good!
