He is like captain nice guy and is the biggest gear nerd. I think he might be a solid contender for the second nicest guy in metal history. I gotta give number one to Dimebag…that dude acted like YOU were the rockstar and he was a fan…lol. Fucking legends. It goes to show, be on time and be nice if you want to be in the music biz.
When John first asked him about the amp and how well he knows it, my first thoughts were: "Doesn't he know who Ola is?". But that moment when he asked Ola about settings... I mean.. That is like 101 guitar talk, but listening to these 2 guys, talking EQ settings is just another level. I love it
I'm approx the same age as you, a big Dream Theater and Pantera fan, so , those Petrucci and Dime videos make me very very happy like it was me living this. I'm more than happy for you !!! Thank you for sharing those moment !! Cheers !!!
I got to hang out backstage with DT in 2015 in Boston (I'm friends with Mangini) Petrucci is just the most down to earth laid back nicest guy, I was totally taken a bac at how nice he was (they were all nice )
As a guy who's idol is petrucci and loves petrucci almost over any other person (and been to like 4 dt shows) I'm really happy you had the chance to do this
How do you get that with a les paul style toggle switch?? I want to do it on my lespaul without the push push switch, to fet it as a default middle position
Well aren’t you a lucky kid in a CANDY FACTORY. John is such a nice human. He plays those guitarses pretty good too. That was nice. I like things that are nice. I have lots of those gears. They shift well. Hey now.
shit, now I'm thinking about Ola's wife while listening to or playing Solitary shell ))) but seriously, I have a similar thing, but with the Awake album
You really need to. Like now. The Majesty models are all good, they just feel a bit small, but the 7 string models are great. That being said, i always liked the more traditional looks of the original JPs, especially for a 6 string. The older ones with the carnuba was and gunstock oil with the birdseye maple necks are phenomenal…but they are missing a few of the awesome modern features, like coil split, boost, and stainless frets. You really need to try a few. The BFRs are all pretty rad, but a few really stand out in my opinion. Those would be: The flat Stanley JP, also known as the JPXI in Black Onyx The fan favorite and super modern JP15 with its Illuminator Pickups and toasty maple neck The ABSOLUTE PIG known as the XX, the JP6 20th Anniversary. It’s got all the new appointments, but still has the Crunch Lab and Liquifire…along with the forearm scoop and belly curmudgeon cutout. I bought one in August that was whipped up on November 18th, 2021. It is definitely a nod to a fellow California amp craft house known as Meesa/Bogey. Apparently they also make guitars, and one them is called The Paul. It’s made of mahogany, maple and ebony with a solid depleted uranium core for true metal tone and strength. It worked. It’s a freaking unit of domination and back pain. Nicest fiddle I’ve put my hands on in 33 years…all 9.4 pounds of her.
You've gotta check out the Majesty... I was so impressed with the first one I picked up, I had to have it! Now... everyone who's picked mine up...said "I've gotta get one of these" The guitar needed nothing! It's incredible.
I definitely like the modern JPs more than the Majesty models. I directly played both of the 20th anniversary models within a couple days and I just like the much more dense feeling of the JP6 20th. The neck carve, radius, fretwork, and slipperiness are there with both. The Majesty gives you slightly better high fret access, but it’s really not much more. The JP6 with its belly and forearm cut and more traditional shape really appeal to me. The Majesty fretboard is literally hanging off the body, where the JP access is more like a 9/10. They are all sweet though. The first one I played when they came out felt really good. They just feel a bit more less connected because of the density. I like heavier guitars almost always.
They dropped any vocal track and Petrucci is singing backing again, so I think they pretty much acknowledgeg the issue and I don't think it would be appropriate to ask
Petrucci was Ola's idol before, and now they're like BFF. What an achievement!
Always is better word to describe that
@@witchell8976 Everyone knows you can only idolize one guitarist at a time /s
JP is a treasure to the guitar community. Such a great guy
That smile in Ola's camera at 5:36, lovely. John really seems to be a totally down to earth guy.

…and play guitar like a monster and compose some amazing shit. That helps too
He's Maha Guru of guitar
Imagine going to one of your heroes sound checks where he takes you to discuss how he should be EQing his amp for the show. Life goals right there.
When John first asked him about the amp and how well he knows it, my first thoughts were: "Doesn't he know who Ola is?". But that moment when he asked Ola about settings... I mean.. That is like 101 guitar talk, but listening to these 2 guys, talking EQ settings is just another level. I love it

Imagine your Guitar Hero walking around agreeing with you and then talking about EQ settings holy shit what a memory Ola!
This is SO supremely cool! You deserve all of this success and connection, Ola. Excellent work!
Imagine having Petrucci as your casual guitar friend. Wtf...
I’m happy for ya man, this is something all of us wish we could do with those that inspire us!
What song is that at 5:28 ??
Seriously... what song is this?
@@ytse77 I'm so disappointed nobody answered this after a whole year. I just left the same comment, lol.
What's the song at 5:28 ? Can anybody tell me?
Petrucci seems so genuine and real... I love watching him in videos like this.
HE is a gear whore. He whores himself out to ANYONE who will pay....
What song are they playing at 5:50?
Not sure what it is, but definitely not a dream theater song
John Petrucci playing "Will It Chug?" with some Ola-style EQ settings! LOL! Right on.
Imagine if you'd told Ola from 12 years ago he'd be doing this!
Now I want JP hanging with Ola in The Haunted's sound check
"I care too much"! How cool is that? It's perfect!
As a guy who's idol is petrucci and loves petrucci almost over any other person (and been to like 4 dt shows) I'm really happy you had the chance to do this
So excited, seeing them in Manchester on Friday!!
Honestly, that was amazing... When a person as famous as that is so down to earth that makes me wanna go out and play more.. awesomeness
3:50 When you stare into the beard for too long, the beard stares back
What's te name of the song at the end of the video?
No big deal, just giving guitar legend John Petrucci a little advice about his amps EQ. No biggie. Toss it on the second channel I guess
Tbf this footage is in the main channel too, on the last SWOLA. So you can also say it was enough of a biggie to post it twice
Ola ffs! So great! This is a part of it. To nerd down. I really loved this! Thank you!
EXCELLENT, man...That's what we wanna see and hear!!!
What's the song at 5:28?
I would like to know that too
@@Alkacino me too
Love love love
What an awesome video man. Talking gear and settings with the man himself. Love seeing this stuff.
John just seem like such a great guy. Love it ❤️🌹
Are those stage blocks literally just for him putting his foot on? That's sick
yes :D
I think at one time he had small cabs there so he could feel the vibration from his guitar and also get some controlled feedback.
This is awesome!!
Hey Ola, as soon as you left, John changed his settings back lol!
How do you get that with a les paul style toggle switch?? I want to do it on my lespaul without the push push switch, to fet it as a default middle position
🤯🤯 passed right by that _beautiful_ drum kit and didn't get a long lingering shot of it.....
Great stuff
Petrucci is the nicest guy. He's always getting better over time too. Usually, guitarists over time reach a plateau, John just keeps getting better.
He is a guitar legend, but his attitude just like ordinary people. Bravo...
Whens the coffee with ola and jp man I'm hanging for that
it must have been an incredible experience for sure😀
That must have been pretty awesome Ola
dude thats liek the dream of every guitr player.
Two guitar nerds totally freaking out over a tone knob - absolute classic! 😉🤘🤣
Oh wow, six degrees is my fav alum, did not expect that
Very very cool
Does anyone know what device is on petrucci´s vocal mic and what is for? thanks
this was really cool man.. when JP was like " holy shyt .. alright ola.. " lol.
Mind blown...
why there were speakers in front JP's pedals , he's using in-ear monitors (all of them ) ?
At :55 what was the crooked thing Petrucci was referring too?
So fucking cool. He was for real interested in your opinion.
Как на Соларе регулировать высоту звукоснимателей?
Name of the song at the end?
You guys are cool.
Did you just??? wow man! Amazing! hahahah
What the song 5.30??
Ola got to play johns rig ? Nice
Man, what I wouldn't give to have that opportunity with Mike Mangini, yeah I'm a drummer.
Quite a Bromance Ola! No, seriously, Petrucci is great!!
Well aren’t you a lucky kid in a CANDY FACTORY. John is such a nice human. He plays those guitarses pretty good too. That was nice. I like things that are nice. I have lots of those gears. They shift well. Hey now.
If you're near JP, you're not 'hanging' as you're getting affected by his gravitational field
shit, now I'm thinking about Ola's wife while listening to or playing Solitary shell )))
but seriously, I have a similar thing, but with the Awake album
No audio policy! 😩
What's Dream Theaer? (See discription)
Imagine Ola engineering for Petrucci !
I guess if Maddi ever retires...We know who his replacement could be? Dream Job right there!!
Ola, you have no idea how many people would sell their soul just to have jp as a friend. I would
*The earth planet's guitarists Maha Guru*
I'm filled with envy right now.
2 legends! I cant believe i have still never touched a Music Man!

been looking at them the last couple of days, some of these are drool worthy! I like the look of the Majesties more than i should!

what a privilege man, incredible..
"I like it, but... " = "I don't like it" 😂
Are questions about LaBrie's lip syncing in Bridges in the Sky the first dozen or so shows in 2022 forbidden as a condition of an interview?

That's the smallest kit I've ever seen Mangini sit behind.
JP=Top Bloke
just 2 guitar nerds nerding
So, what was up with that crooked fuckin, uh, thing there?
Shiiiiiiiiiit
666th like!
Is this legit or youre impersonating Ola and earning money from his original content?
Nah this is my second channel. I do the livestreams on Monday’s here for instance!
