I bought 2 of these to run a stereo rig and no regrets so far. I do run through a Maxxon OD-808 for lead boosting, and split the signal into stereo with a stereo reverb/chorus/delay unit. But I agree with the comment below that said this amp is meant to play loud. Got to get the Master AND Gain up a bit to reach the sweet spot. Best tone is with the power selector switch set on the highest setting. Although, for practices, the middle power setting is also very acceptable - and still very loud.

The Origin has a bit more "bite" to it whereas the Germino has a bit more bottom end. The Origin breaks-up beautifully at higher volumes for that classic mid-70's rock tone. One heck of a good amp from Marshall.

Nice. This is one of the best comparisons I've seen. They're closer than I would've thought. Would be interesting to see the bass kicked up a bit on the origin 20, other reviewers have said the 50 watt origin is fuller than the 20.

Not likely. It is and sounds like a cheap imitation of the SV20 which IS a classic.
Bottom line is if you're on a budget or simply a bedroom player the Origin will suffice.
Otherwise the SV20 is the real deal.

BanditPanda are you sure it has the same valves, the jumper tones can be blended on the origin with the tilt control something not possible on the sv20 and the voicing diffences are so subtle between these amp that it becomes a moot point because the Origin is such a good pedal platform the amp could be just dialled in with pedals to match the sv20 .

The Germino sounded good at all levels, and the cleans were unmatched. The Germino was dark and the sound has more of that 3D depth, while the Origin felt a little flatter and had more sizzle, though at high master volumes it became really nice sounding too.

The Geronimo (along with 99.9% of all other Marshall clones) lacks the famous hyper accentuated crunchy pick attack that is signature to all the greatest Marshalls (including the origin). This tone component is key for the amp to have that super quick responsive feel that Marshall is known for, and to really slice through properly in a band. In other words, if you want a Marshall buy a Marshall. And now with the origin series everyone can afford a proper one.

A lot of trash talk about the origin series comes from the speaker used in the 20c combo which makes the sound too thin and sometimes annoying on certain riffs. Of course the sound is thin compared to the amps double the price

@@blakemansfield2356 Ahh k. I just got my 20h this morning and ran it in to a creamback 65 in an old vox open back cabinet. Blown away! Have used AC30's for years so was not expecting it to make those sound 'dark' and 'muffled'. lol Also really pleasantly surprised to discover that contary to what almost everyone seems to have said online about these amps: 1. They are not 'too loud'. 2. There is loads of clean to be had and what there is is actually fantastic. 3. There's plenty of freakin gain with the master above 7 and the gain dimed. 4. The build quality is solid. 5. They absolutely do sound like a mini plexi through the right speaker at the right volumes. 6. The power scaling works fine. It doesn't 'kill the tone' it works exactly as it says: it lowers the output volume to the speaker for 'acceptable' home practice volume. Any lost highs or extra mids can be dialed out .. using the freaking EQ they built in!
The internet really is bad for slating products or not even understanding what the intended application is and slating them anyway .. Sheesh. $259 on sale with 3 years warranty btw. What more do people want!? Your vids are probably the only ones on youtube that really show the true Origin tone ..

Ultimately the entire Origin Series are decent amps for their price bracket. Comparing a £350 Origin with a £2000 Plexi is totally ridiculous and is like comparing a Fiat with a Ferrari. Most of us can't justify spending mega £$€ on expensive amps and Marshall know this and that is why the Origin series exists. I am pleased Marshall recognise that mere mortals cannot afford boutique style amps and therefore try to accommodate regular guitarists with sensibly priced amplifiers. We will leave the expensive amps to those who don't have wives.

Germino in a landslide. I've yet to hear a demo of the Origin that really sounds great. Then again it's not a handwired $2500 amp either so you get what you pay for.

Guitar Ocd it’s the bright cap the Germino doesn’t have on most likely. I have a Germino and imho plexis need to have some sort of bright cap. I put a 500pf on mine and it’s a good value so it’s not too bright and not too “ dull”.
