So, not to bring the vibe down..but yeah..I had to stop driving and eventually I had to stop leaving the house. So I rarely leave the apartment because I have a brain tumor that’s causing vision loss and debilitating migraines with aura when I’m outside. It was triggered by a lumbar epidural that led to a spinal fluid leak I had in 2022 and slowly losing my vision since. Since I’m home 24/7, it kind of just fell into place that I would be my mom’s caregiver while she’s on hospice at home. Did I think I’d be 35, living at home, on disability, healing from the trauma from my ex husband, my medical trauma and the trauma of everything that’s been happening with my mom….no…and life feels heavy. I do remain hopeful that things will get better, I have a positive mental attitude and a sense of humor. When I have time to actually watch UA-cam, your videos give me such an overwhelming amount of joy. Your humor is the same as mine. I feel like you’ve been my friend. I even love watching your travel videos. As someone who is also an introvert, and now home bound…it feels so nice to be able to see such amazing people and places in the world. Your energy is amazing and you are doing such an incredible job with your content and your editing. Thank you for bringing joy into our lives. You just never know what someone is going through and who you have an impact on. You cool dude, love you man. 🫶🏻☺️
Very heavy to hear what you’re going through, I am so sorry. It takes a truly strong person to still have a positive spirit despite everything you’re going through. I hope your brighter days come very soon, my friend! I am happy to be able to bring some extra joy into your life, thank you for sharing. The internet is a wonderful thing, even though you have to stay home you are absolutely not alone!
As someone who's housebound 24/7 with health issues, I truly feel for you. Unlike me, though, you're strong despite life testing you in so many ways. I wish you all the strenght and health possible, Ashley, big tight hugs.
My guess is that it's a riff on an old magician's trick. WARNING: If you don't want a certain magic trick spoiled, do not read further. The performer is wearing pants that have a brace in the front on one of the legs that keeps the shape of the leg and the foot, with the brace going into the shoe as well. This braced pantleg also has a slit cut out of it in the back where the perfomer's leg can slip out. Then they step back far enough and at an angle that's imperceptible to the viewer (so we can't see their leg outside of the pants) and flexes and extends their foot, giving the impression that they're floating. This trick is often done in front of a curb or a step, giving the viewer the impression that they're floating up the step. Hope that's a good enough explanation! If anyone else in the comments can explain it better, feel free to reply to my comment; I'd love to read if I missed anything! Also, @herodoesstuff: If you're able, look for "Magic's Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed." It was a TV special in the US in the late 90s (I want to say 98-99, but I could be wrong) that had a 'masked magician' who revealed himself at the end of the series. He, while masked, debunked probably around 40 different tricks, cons, etc., that have made magicians their money for over a century. It was a pretty great show and I have very fond memories of it. I believe there are some episodes or portions of them here on YT. I'm not sure where else they would be.
Also the reason corpse is so deep in the valley is because the ability to recognize when something isn't truly human evolved to identify corpses. Most likely I mean.
another theory is that it evolved to identify rabies, which IMO makes a lot of sense, it is a near fatal disease if you don't get the vaccines in time and it was completely, 100% fatal in the early stages of human existence. It makes people act and look in ways that aren't quite right because of the neural damage. It would also explainwhy there's also an uncanny valley for animals; a dead animal could be a source of food, so there would be no reason for us to evolve to fear it, but there was, again a HUGE reason to fear potentially rabid animals. It's most likely a combination of a bunch of factors, though, so we can't discard that it evolved also for identifying dead bodies
These are interesting!! There is a standard of balance to know what is good and what is bad so pretty much anything the leans one way or the other will set off a certain reaction to it!!
That sounds ridiculous, since there's a lot of ways to identify corpses without a "that's weird" sense. For instance, the smell. Or the lack of movement. Are you telling me that we need a special mechanism to not actually accept rides from dead people?
@@Selrisitai one could argue that corpses are distressing to see in part because the lack of movement is uncanny. i am not arguing that, i have no fuckin' clue why corpses are on the uncanny valley chart, but somebody else probably would.

Corpses often do lose their humanity. In cases of severe decomposition. Or whatever made them appear human is lost. I was relieved though that my father looked excellent 3 days dead at the funeral home.
The video of the guy moving like a puppet is interesting. Most of the videos are people with the uncanny makeup, but the way this guy moves like a puppet and remains expressionless makes him very uncanny, at least for me.
I enjoy any video you post. Your titles are what made me click because they're exactly what you say they are. "Man with thalassophobia watches videos that trigger his thalassophobia. Gets scared." My favorite kind of videos!
That first video, the way the mask has a sunken mouth and a pointy chin makes me think of a goblin shark...like her mouth is just suddenly gonna shoot forward.
11:00 this is probably one of the best uncanny valley clips I’ve ever seen. Even the eyeballs have a weird quality, the whole face looks like cardboard and silicone.

Ya know Greg, I watch you so often that I know as soon as I click the video, I harmonize with you on the "Welcome back." 😅 I hope that’s not creepy 😂😂😂😂
Haha thank you this is exactly what I want. I try to say it the same way every time! Someday I’ll compile all the “welcome back”’s into one super long video and I’ll expect you to follow along 😂
I'm hoping sometime soon, people start making uncanny valley comedy. Like the "what is bro staring at" as the head immediately hid back in the closet felt kind of close to comedy to me. Like, I can imagine they have an agreement where the uncanny creature is allowed to live in the closet in exchange for minding its own business.
This is why I truly believe that the scariest things are the things that are _almost_ normal. When something is just slightly off then that’s when the real horror kicks in.
That audio clip that showed up a few times, the "I am a real person," is from a video here on YT that was posted about 10 years ago. Even back then the ai voices we had (Siri, Google, Miku, etc) still sounded very computerized. It really wasn't until the last 3 years or so, that there's been a huge breakthrough in having them sound so real. What it sounds like to me was that the health company got someone to record lines for them, and when they'd call numbers, specific response lines would be played as the code attempted to interpret what was being said. Since it's a health company, they likely didn't want to get in trouble for using robo calls, and used this method since in a way, it IS a human speaking, but the responses are chosen by a robot. Still creepy as hell though because it actually is a robot trying to appear human. It was given the voice box, just not the ability to think for itself.
Hey, i just want to say as someone who has a lot of anxiety and cant watch scary videos alone, your videos make me so happy. Its become a routine to sit down with your new video every week, thank you for making videos that feel like sitting down with a friend

Except the person that posted it didn't mention it was a music video and cropped the clip to stop before the music started. It terrified me for years. I can still hear him breathing.
The headtilt at 6:30 completely killed what could have been a good one. It simply pulled me straight into "ah, horrormovie" territory and that instantly made it not scary

The first one is a recreation of a character from a Junji Ito manga called The Window Next Door. It's been recreated a few times

If you've ever had mushrooms, this is what normal faces look like. Mushrooms are good, looking at peoples faces while on mushrooms is bad.

The human marionette, I've literally had nightmares about stuff like that. A humanoid marionette sliding into an open window of a sleeping person's room and floats almost dancing around before abruptly slipping into an open closet, the door slams and wakes the sleeping person.
yours and dungeon chill always give me the good weekend vibe i'm looking for. keep it up man.
