He said he often thought of the person who bought the album, put headphones on and... heard it for the first time. "I never had that experience." He was jealous of one of his fans.
Sixteen years ago, I met my wife while living in Virginia. I am originally from Wisconsin, she's from Washington State. We are both prior military so we've traveled and lived in more places than we can even begin to remember. One day she asked me, of all the places I've lived, where would I prefer to spend the rest of my life. My answer was simple. I didn't care. I had never lived in one place that I absolutely wanted to stay. I had never lived in a place that I considered home. They were always just places I've been and really didn't care if I was ever there again or not. Seven years ago, we flew out to the Oregon coast to visit her parents. We flew into Portland late in the evening and drove with her parents to their house. I was exhausted and could barely keep my eyes open for the ride so it wasn't until that next morning that I actually saw where I was, and, it hit me. Hard! I stood there in my in-laws kitchen and looked out at the mountains with the inversion layer cutting everything in half. The peace, the tranquility and the view. It hit me. My wife brought me a cup of coffee and asked me why I was crying. I told her I was home. Three years ago we bought our home on the Oregon coast with a view of the mountains and the salty breeze in the air, and I'll be here until the day I die. I hope you find your space here. There's healing in these mountains and inspiration in the waves. It's home for those of us that have never found another.
This home. The dog. The environment. It suits you. This is it. It's not what you think you can't afford, it's what you will figure it out and make it work.
You have been transparent to viewers about what makes you “tick” as a person. And you have been open in the past while about how you are more and more interested in having a home base. You mentioned how you never thought you would be making this step on your own. But I think deep down that you wouldn't have it any other way. By making this decision as an individual, you stay true to yourself. And if you choose to share that with someone, you can protect your individuality. Who knows.....making this decision to find a plot to make roots may bring you so much more than just a home that's not on wheels. And you will always have the van to “escape” and get away when you need to have a reset. I hope that you just enjoy the moment without overthinking and sabotaging your plans for the future. Allow yourself to have the win. We all deserve that joy - including you.

I lived in a small cabin in Suquamish. It was on an older woman's property and she lived in the big house. In many ways I loved it, but that damp cold in Western Washington I could never get warm. But now I see after watching this video, if I could live with hot tub sauna, better insulation and not have to commute to work those woods would be pretty dreamy in the winter after all. This is so huge for you Christian because this is the first time I have ever really seen you make a decisive decision that this is where you'd want to have a homebase. And it was the first video of yours I watched on van life that helped me decide that I really want a homebase. It was the one where you got to stay in the airbnb cabin in Montana and you said your work ethic was solid. I totally related to that and it helped me relax about why I don't get much work done on the road. Here's to us getting our home base dream 🥂

I love that you feel comfortable sharing your journey through life with us. Of course, there are a number of aspects of your coming life that will help make it feel increasingly fulfilling for you, including perhaps a place and maybe a relationship. You will add an incredible quality to both. Due to my own exploration, I feel that there is also an inner journey, that I sense would help to make the feeling you are searching for, more accessible. The feeling of home is not only expressed in a physical place, though that is nice, but also in a deeper understanding of yourself, a deeper knowing of yourself. Because in the end, you, are home. So, all of the aspects you desire can be brought together. The inner journey and exploration, I will suggest, will add to that endeavor. I'm not saying you need to add it to have a more satisfying life show up, I'm saying that it will give it a quality that is sort of like a spice you have not used yet. And when you add it to your favorite dish, it brings out a quality of taste that without it, you would not have experienced. Regardless of how you continue your journey and exploration of life, I hope it brings you increasing amounts of what you would love to experience with it.

I live just down the road, in Monroe, after 21 years of living in Seattle. Seattle was a great place for my 20’s and 30’s, but it’s just so much nicer to be out in the foothills of the mountains. The views, the solace, the access to nature, it all is just a better place to be after so much city, for so long. You did a great job of capturing this beautiful land of ours. Thank you for always doing just that and more. Your videos are always captivating.

one thing, depending on your comfort level. be aware of how close to state land you are as during hunting season it can be quite noisy and TBH not safe. Had a weekend place in the Catskills on 7 acres that abutted state land and every fall I used to have to wear orange and put an orange vest on my dog as I had no idea how much activity there was during hunting season. While I am not personally into hunting, many hunters were practiced but there was too high a percentage that were horrible, unprepared or untrained and then you end up with strangers walking on your property looking for the animal they only wounded. Ugh.
You always find the coolest dog sitting houses. Sounds like you're ready for a change, and that's great. I am sure we all would miss your road work, but we will get over it. And that sauna, just beautiful, along with your winter videos. You never disappoint with your vlog. Take your time, what happens with your shout out to the universe will come back with an answer. I share your dream, Christian. I stayed in Lacey and Olympia for six weeks, venturing out daily searching and looking at properties for sale. After living and traveling throughout the lower 48, I picked Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington as prospective final home bases. I owned land in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, but as more and more people discovered the area I sold it. I have a sweet gig now housesitting for a couple who live near Houston, Texas. The vacation cottage is up at 6000 feet surrounded by beautiful forests. They will vacation here in March. I want to "test out" New Mexico. After several backpacking trips there, I want to visit many of the 30+ state parks and seek land or other properties for sale. I know that feeling that nomads have when they find a piece of the rock that fits. Best of luck in your search. Keep up your phenomenal work, please.

Just found your channel and the episode on filming yourself. After watching that one it sure seemed like you had that mid-west thang that only we have. Once I watched the segment on your grandfather and the cabins then I figured it out, You were certainly mid-west. I am in the middle of Missouri -- like right in the middle where the government is. As much as I love Missouri, I really love AR. I RV there (Beaver Lake) and ride the motorcycle to Eureka...some fun roads! The hiking and biking is excellent there. I think of God's country in a couple places....the Ozarks and West---past Kansas but not to CA! . You just need to keep a map of everyone that offers you a place to recharge and even discharge LOL. Safe travels and great content! Sometimes

Beautiful, as always. Including your storytelling. I found myself thinking I could live in the snowy forest over winter (I couldn’t, I need sun!) and also, mossy Twilight vibes 😊. We’re currently taking a 2 month break from life on the road caravanning, spending time at our off-grid beach cabin (summer here in NZ). I definitely feel recharged from having that base and will be ready to start road life again in a couple of weeks. The best of both worlds will suit you and you’ll enjoy the freedom to choose. Christian, your incredible way of capturing scenery and framing it is a very nice mood, continues to be a wonderful experience. I love that you feel comfortable sharing your journey through life with us. Of course, there are a number of aspects of your coming life that will help make it feel increasingly fulfilling for you, including perhaps a place and maybe a relationship. You will add an incredible quality to both. Due to my own exploration, I feel that there is also an inner journey, that I sense would help to make the feeling you are searching for, more accessible. The feeling of home is not only expressed in a physical place, though that is nice, but also in a deeper understanding of yourself, a deeper knowing of yourself. Because in the end, you, are home.
So, all of the aspects you desire can be brought together. The inner journey and exploration, I will suggest, will add to that endeavor. I'm not saying you need to add it to have a more satisfying life show up, I'm saying that it will give it a quality that is sort of like a spice you have not used yet. And when you add it to your favorite dish, it brings out a quality of taste that without it, you would not have experienced.
Regardless of how you continue your journey and exploration of life, I hope it brings you increasing amounts of what you would love to experience with it.

I live just down the road, in Monroe, after 21 years of living in Seattle. Seattle was a great place for my 20’s and 30’s, but it’s just so much nicer to be out in the foothills of the mountains. The views, the solace, the access to nature, it all is just a better place to be after so much city, for so long. You did a great job of capturing this beautiful land of ours. Thank you for always doing just that and more. Your videos are always captivating.

one thing, depending on your comfort level. be aware of how close to state land you are as during hunting season it can be quite noisy and TBH not safe. Had a weekend place in the Catskills on 7 acres that abutted state land and every fall I used to have to wear orange and put an orange vest on my dog as I had no idea how much activity there was during hunting season. While I am not personally into hunting, many hunters were practiced but there was too high a percentage that were horrible, unprepared or untrained and then you end up with strangers walking on your property looking for the animal they only wounded. Ugh.

I share your dream, Christian. I stayed in Lacey and Olympia for six weeks, venturing out daily searching and looking at properties for sale. After living and traveling throughout the lower 48, I picked Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington as prospective final home bases. I owned land in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, but as more and more people discovered the area I sold it. I have a sweet gig now housesitting for a couple who live near Houston, Texas. The vacation cottage is up at 6000 feet surrounded by beautiful forests. They will vacation here in March. I want to "test out" New Mexico. After several backpacking trips there, I want to visit many of the 30+ state parks and seek land or other properties for sale. I know that feeling that nomads have when they find a piece of the rock that fits. Best of luck in your search. Keep up your phenomenal work, please.

Just found your channel and the episode on filming yourself. After watching that one it sure seemed like you had that mid-west thang that only we have. Once I watched the segment on your grandfather and the cabins then I figured it out, You were certainly mid-west. I am in the middle of Missouri -- like right in the middle where the government is. As much as I love Missouri, I really love AR. I RV there (Beaver Lake) and ride the motorcycle to Eureka...some fun roads! The hiking and biking is excellent there. I think of God's country in a couple places....the Ozarks and West---past Kansas but not to CA! . You just need to keep a map of everyone that offers you a place to recharge and even discharge LOL. Safe travels and great content! Sometimes

Beautiful, as always. Including your storytelling. I found myself thinking I could live in the snowy forest over winter (I couldn’t, I need sun!) and also, mossy Twilight vibes 😊. We’re currently taking a 2 month break from life on the road caravanning, spending time at our off-grid beach cabin (summer here in NZ). I definitely feel recharged from having that base and will be ready to start road life again in a couple of weeks. The best of both worlds will suit you and you’ll enjoy the freedom to choose. Should be a fun adventure in this next step of planting roots. Doesn't mean you can't satisfy a wandering soul, but gives you options. We are looking around Idaho personally, but still want our land in AZ too. And then traveling the whole SW and PNW.
