I didn't include that because it varies wildly. I also purchased this lot along with many other lots as a package deal. Each lot has different value because there is ocean view and lot size to consider. But I paid just one bulk price so it's hard to say. Its like if you paid $10 for an apple, a juice, coffee, milk and a can of beans and someone was like, how much was the apple?
@@SashaJuliardD You would look at the receipt and it would tell you. Multiple lots would have had dollar figures to each, it can't be hard to give a ballpark figure on cost of land. Given where I think this is, I would guess in the realm of 110k. Unless what you built on here was sub-divided after or one of several structures on the same plot... given the fact this is a rental.
Hi Sasha - well done! I strongly encourage you to add horizontal concrete "beams" in the ground that tie into the concrete pilings supporting your house. I used a similar construction method in similar terrain and each corner of my house is subsiding at different rates. This causes racking which puts great stress on the structure. Another thing to consider on your next build is ensuring the upper part of the house does not come into physical contact with the concrete bodega structure below. By building on pilings, it is easier to protect your house from termites and ants because regular visual inspection is a snap. When you have a concrete structure (bodega, bath house) contacting a structure on pilings, you make it difficult to inspect for ants and termites. And it becomes far more difficult to stop them once they find your house.
Hi Sasha, I love your house and vibe. Can I ask how much land that you have and the approximate town or location? I’m very interested, as I may be looking to relocate from USA in 2024/2025! Thanks ❤
Was thinking the same thing when I saw the concrete footings. Should be continuous. Was also thinking that he could have opted for materials to prevent termites. Well said.
@@NSAKEY I will definitely consider horizontal beams on my next one. As for termite resistant materials, all the wood I used was pine treated by a company that makes a special process and treatment for this area specifically for the weather and insects down here.

Hi Sasha! I’m loving this build. Great job and congratulations!!! Any chance you would share the plans for this build? Say someone would like to build something similar ?
Very inspiring, thank you for sharing with us all! I Have been looking at land in Chirripo with the dream to build something very similar. I love what you have achieved and the way you have gone about it is exactly my vision also. Enjoy the home and Congratulations, respect!
Congratulations on the beautiful cabin. Your hard work was totally worth it. Hope u post the video of the other construction. In the meantime, enjoy your views & mornings from your amazing deck.
I know you mentioned you purchased 7 parcels. Are you okay letting us know what those 7 parcels cost? Also, what part of Costa Rica is this in? Is it a high tourist location like Tamarindo?
I appreciate you sharing, and I find this to be inspirational. I can see that the location is comparable to mine in Kuching, Sarawak. No matter how much it costs to build the entire Cabit from the ground up, including the cost of the land... Because different places have different costs, it will vary in every way. Thank you once more for sharing this video, though. Bravo! 👍👍💯
Loved this video. Thanks for the transparency. Inspiring! But I have on question: I did not hear you speak to plumbing.... I saw a sink and a toilet (I'm assuming some sort of shower too). I assume there must be a septic system? Maybe rain collection and filtering? What did that end up costing? Or are you living without water / wastewater disposal?
I really thought you were going to say way more for all of this. It’s very nice. People out here in USA are no where near even half way done for builds similar to yours and they are already $200k in 😂 yet don’t even have in interior built. They just keep wasting money. So sad. Watching builds like yours is very inspiring. I thought about building there in Costa Rica but not really knowing anyone I figured it would be hard to get it all going. Your build gives me hope. Are you native? How did you go about obtains the land? If you don’t mind talking about it? Again thanks for sharing.
great project. very interested in the build video and would love to see the walkthrough of it finished. all of the quick views shown in this video makes me want to see more!!!
I thought the same thing. Similar ones from Home Depot are at least $8k. Pretty much all his costs seemed crazy low, so maybe it's just that much cheaper in Costa Rica.
My wife and I have thought about doing the same thing. But we're worried about local infrastructure. In regards to the house and materials. I've heard that building something in Thailand done the way they would do. It won't last for more than ten fifteen years. But if it's done like the solid way with concrete and rebar like it would be done here, then it last very long time....
@@BestDadBod There is a group of expat in Thailand that created a FB group that discusses building. The footing and columns have rebars in them. The house is structurely sound. We just need to stop thinking like a Farang in Thailand. Wife tells me that all the time. Despite being born there, I grew up in the states.
@@umpire94I have no doubt that the house is structurally sound. I was referring to thai construction in general. And i've seen many videos on it as well. Peace to you.
In my country you don't need a permit to build house like that (up to 40m2). You just send project to local authoritys. However it has to be out of city/town lines and not taller than 5.5 meters. But...cool house. Love it. Just finished my 40m2 house.

The cost makes sense. When I was there cost was high on most things, especially anything imported. I am more curious about time. If you had a race with a snail and someone on "tico" time the snail would win! LOL. How long did all this take?
Cool design with nice finishes. But that might not work in Guanacaste with the strong winds we have in the dry season. I believe the house would move just enough to blow out some of those windows.
Great job, I'm probably building near Drake soon. This video gave me a lot with information that will definitely help. Are the windows there for air conditioning? The houses in my area just have screens. I love the sound of the Toucans in the distance at the beginning. Thank you very much for taking the time to post and inform.
