Now it makes sense! I was watching you quilt, and I kept thinking, "where are the pins?" I'm reading your book. What a blessing your father-in-law was!! Super story. Thanks so much for these videos.
I love this batting. When doing the edges of the sandwich I use parchment paper between my iron and the batting. It doesn't stick to the batting and my iron stays nice and clean. Great video - thanks.
Fantastic!! As you said Angela I also started with a baby quilt not so long ago. My dear friend introduced me to quilting in December 2017/18. Now I plan to buy my first machine to make things easier for me. I love your quilts and I am learning a lot from watching Quilting at Midnight!! xx
I love my spray baste but I think I'm gonna try heat basting! Once I get my mojo back lol !! hence my watching your program to get me going again. I absolutely love you and you have always seem to get me going thank you doll!! muah ! sonja
I have about 20 quilt tops that need to be a finished quilt. you make it look so easy to machine quilt, so I am going to try. Will let you know if it works out or if I go crazy first-- thank you for giving me guts to try.
You have such a knack for inspiring, challenging and empowering us to try something new with just the right amount of enabling us to be accepting of our efforts of leas than perfect knowing they will still be perfect! Thanks! Love your videos!!!
I have so many unfinished quilts because the sandwiching was cumbersome for me and I got loads of very noticeable folds even though I taped my backing to the floor. I think I'll try the fusible batting instead of pinning. Can't wait to try it. Thank you so much.
I love this one. I am a total newbie and have wondered how you make sure you have everything "secure" before you start the quilting portion of the program! So thank you thank you thank you!!!
FUSABLE BATTING! WHAT! We are overseas military and I can never order basting spray online (shipping restrictions) which is always a bummer but you’ve opened a new door, thank you!!!!!
Thanks so much for posting this, Angela! The quilt sandwich has been the step I’ve been struggling with the most. The on the floor and pin method is totally not for me. Going to have to try fusible next time!
Sarah Majesie that's what I do too. The worst part is some how not one room in my house has a dang floor big enough for my quilts lol. 🤷🤦 I can't wait to find this batting!!!
What if your batting isn't wide enough for your quilt? do you sew it together before ironing it, or just place the two pieces next to each other? I've NEVER made a quilt, but your enthusiasm about quilting and humor really sparked joy and I'm ready to go for it
I would love for you to do a video about making/putting together the quilt backs and matching the pattern fabrics, or aligning the pattern with the main long seam down the middle of the back so you can hardly tell. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Breezy Barkley this might not be what you’re looking for, but I like to match right sides together and sew both edges before cutting off the salvage, so you end up with a big, long tube. (I make sure and measure 1/2 “ further in from the salvage as my sewing line, then trim all but 1/2” when finished.) Now take that tube and match the seams together, and press. You are basically making a cutting line down the middle of one of the pieces. Cut on pressed line, and you have a centered 45” piece with two 22.5” on either side. I feel it looks better than one seam down the middle of the back. It’s a bit more work, but really looks great.
BIG fan of Hobbs Batting and I love the idea of fusible. Hate the spray and pins-ouch. BUT mine from Amazon a Hobbs Heirloom didn’t work. What gives? Yes I used a hot Rowena iron. Sigh
Angela, do you ever quilt with a domestic sewing machine? I can't speak for anyone else but, I am very new to this quilting (or trying) my own. Questions: #1: When starting to quilt do you have to start in the middle all the time. #2: I use 90% of the time a Quilt Panel and then built out from that point. #3: I am NOT comfortable at free motion so I usually do straight lines and being to hate them. #4: I haven't been able to find stencils that are larger so I don't have to move my stencils every 3-5 inches and I haven't ever done just blocks. It would be wonderful if you would consider doing a quilt using a panel from beginning to end for us real NOVICE quilters. Thanks so much and you are a HOOT!!!!
ANNE TRENARY I realize you posted this months ago, but you neeeeeed to go to Angela’s channel! She has tons of videos showing how to quilt on a domestic machine. And she’s so fun and encouraging! 😁
This looks great for a domestic machine setup.... Would you ever use this method for the longarm? I ask because I was thinking about the quilt along challenge where if I made the quilt, I'd have to keep it set up for several weeks to do your quilt along in real time, and I might get fidgety about that!
What kind of table is that? My only big table is one of those six foot folding heavy plastic types. Guessing yours is wooden and I should not use mine. I also can't get on the floor and get up again.
ok where do i buy double sided fusible batting? is all fusible batting double sided i need 70x 90. craftsy is sold out are they going to get more in? joannas or hobby lobby thanks guys
Question: Craftsy has this in twin or Queen- Queen being 90x108. Im making a quilt thats 99x99. If I cut it and rearrange, will it work? Does this have enough stretch to make it work? Thank you Angela you are a quilting goddess!
You would probably want to zigzag the pieces together before fusing. Remember you need extra around the edges, so you'd want to make the batting and backing at least 103 x 103. Even if you cut it really close, the 90 x 108 won't be enough. You might have a nonfusible batting scrap you could add on, and just use spray to adhere that part.
Love your vids, you are my go-to girl! Sad story. I was horrified to find my clean rug (grey speckles) had been infested w white hairs by the maint man's dog while I was out. The backing is black! I sprayed and adhered batting and quilt top , then turned it over to check for wrinkles. Omg, what a mess! I tried to clean it up w a hand vac. Didnt help much. Obviously I cant quilt it w the hair on it. This is my first bed quilt and it is for me, being a FL girl stuck in the cold north for the winter. After I get done crying and y'all get done laughing, can someone help me?
GC Durnin I know this is a year too late, but Walmart sells Evercare home Giant extreme stick lint roller near the ironing board section. I have many of these all over the house, plus the refills. These are great for lint, threads, pet hair, removing paper piecing bits and lots else. I hope you figured out what to do!
H C Thanks, also. I thought maybe our universe had collided with another universe while I was sleeping last night, and the only fallout was this situation. :)
I moved in a 1920 home that had never been renovated, still had a giant quilting table in the basement. I love it!
So jealous!!! I love old homes
That was lucky!!

Just call it ruching! LoL! 😂 Enjoy your quilting videos. They are informative and light hearted!
I love love love this quilt top.

Hello! I'm russian qwilter-beginner, and... thank you a lot! You're the best!))
Thanks you so much for posting this i am watching your show and try to make some quilt . I love it !
I used this batting this week on my very first Quilt and I love it. Thanks for the demo!
OMG thank you for introducing me to fusible batting!!! Plus you are SO CUTE & FUN!!!

I have been waiting fo ever for someone to show me how to do this. Thank you!! I finally understand how to do it.

What quilt top pattern is this. I love it and the colours
That's made it so much easier, thanks Angela 😀

I need to see you make another quilt on Midnight quilt show. Please.
Thank you for making another quilt. Love you. You rock.
Thank you!! i've always wondered how your basting is so impeccable!
Thank you, Angela!! This answers my questions! As I've been watching your videos, I've wondered how you kept all the layers together.
Jackie
Finally, I will use the iron on batting from now on...looked easy...thanks!!!

Do you use fusible batting long-arming on frame?
Love, love, love your style! Thank you for this video! Really helps build confidence to just do it :)
Do you still recommend fusible batting?
More Midnight quilting! Oh yea!
BIG fan of Hobbs Batting and I love the idea of fusible. Hate the spray and pins-ouch. BUT mine from Amazon a Hobbs Heirloom didn’t work. What gives? Yes I used a hot Rowena iron. Sigh
What a great tip. Did not know about this product.
I love the idea of fusible. Hate the spray and pins. BUT mine from Amazon Hobbs heirloom didn’t work. What gives?
After using the fusable batting, how does it hold up when you are machine quilting?
Thanks so much for this. I struggle with the basting process
Great idea. I've been using spray baste 505 and I don't like spraying it in the house.
AWESOME! And thanks for the "Song Dejour" in my head today!

Angela, the website links you refer to are not available. Any suggestions? Ty.
thank you Angela for the great video!
I'm always learning something new, and new, and new ...... :-)
What is your table top made of?
I am looking for a basting method that holds up during the machine quilting process.

Can you use this with Minky?
Beginner here:
Do you baste, quilt and bind last or baste, bind and then quilt?
Baste quilt bind
Grease proof paper helps you to keep your iron clean when you go close to the edges.
can i handquilt using fusible batting? or will it be too stiff to stitch through?
how do you use fusible batting with the long arm? or do you?
Please do a tutorial on basting a quilt on the wall. Something without the spray basting.
What kind of table is that? My only big table is one of those six foot folding heavy plastic types. Guessing yours is wooden and I should not use mine. I also can't get on the floor and get up again.
👍. xoxo from sunny 🌞, but chilly Arizona, 60/39f today.
Basting with this tip , can it be done with any form of batting
Hi Angela. Did you sew three pieces of fusible batting together for this quilt?
You can buy the fusible batting at Hobby Lobby. Sometimes JoAnn's has it. Just need to look.
ok where do i buy
double sided fusible batting? is all fusible batting double sided
i need 70x 90. craftsy is sold out are they going to get more in?
joannas or hobby lobby thanks guys
Carla Walker I bought it through amazon
Any tips if I don’t have big table? Floor isn’t working very well

Have used this Fusible batting but found it made the quilt “very stiff” ... ok for wall hangings I guess
Have you tried the homemade basting spray?
where do you get the fusible batting?
My table melted and I now have a warped table. could you show how to hang it on the wall and spray baste afterall? lol
Do you worry about your needle gumming up when using this fusible batting when quilting?
Mary Avelis I have used Hobbs fusible on 2 small quilts and didn’t have any issues with needle getting gummed up. Basting was easy.👍
SCHMETZ just came out with a new anti-gumming needle if you fear the adhesive buildup.
Love this! Just exactly what I was looking for! Thanks.
thank you so much
I want a blue shirt like what you’re wearing
If I need to get close to the edge and keep my iron safe or a piece of fabric safe I will use scrap material that I can peel away and toss later.

Why am I getting this notif when there are comments here from 2 and 3 months ago? It shows it was uploaded today... What's up with YT these days?
SmittenKitten she might have reposted this video....she already made a tutorial about this “four square” quilt...🤔
The video used to be unlisted and today it's been officially and publicly "uploaded".
Andy Chen Thanks... I feel like an idiot for not putting that together.
H C Thanks, also. I thought maybe our universe had collided with another universe while I was sleeping last night, and the only fallout was this situation. :)
Where are the links for more basting tips?
Did you click on the "Read More" link?
Hey Angela how can I see the pattern for this quilt
I didn't even know there was such a thing as fusable batting. 😣
Me either!!!
Ive never heard of basting a quilt
Yo I made my first quilt!
❤️
