Going into the K-State game last year I was one of the Cook nay sayers. Since that game though I have been one of his staunchest supporters. I’m extremely happy he put me and others in our place. Go #12!
Game was a perfect opening Ind player stats mean nothing in a game like that it’s all about getting a dominant team win. The drone show was very good. MIZ
The offense looked sharp until the 2nd, then picked it backed up in the 2nd half with back-ups. Running backs are looking clean, let's see if that translates into the conference games. Pyne looked pretty legit out there. The receiving core is strong with nice depth. Mizzou defense looked great under Batoon, but of course it's against an FCS school. I'm hoping the starters and 2nd stringers keep improving, we'll need them healthy. I can see a 10-2 or 11-1 season brewing.
Did anyone else find it kind of telling that before the team ran on the field drink was saying "we have the most competitive depth we have ever had" and the university took that and put it on the intro video... basically telling everyone that walks into the stadium that we know we are good this year.
I've studied most of the stats from our SEC opponents this year after one game. Mizzou is 5th in total number of yards on the ground. And 6th in yards per carry. And that's not the worst of it. If you subtract Lacy's yards, our average yards per carry goes down significantly. I think it would be a huge mistake to red shirt Lacy this year... Our run game is going to need all the help you can get. It also concerns me that over 50% of our points came in less than one quarter, and 7 of those points was because of a pick 6. It took a little more than 3/4 for Mizzou to put up another 23 points against a very very inferior opponent. Our number ones only scored another 7 points in the second half. How, why, when, where, and whom against you score, makes all the difference in the world.
I think the “in one game” means a lot. One game against an opponent that you’re favored 99% to 1% doesn’t really show a lot from a team. Let’s compare the stats after we’ve played A&M or auburn. Then we can criticize.
The strength of the schedule got harder! Vanderbilt... not a gimmie game. A&M took a top 10 team down to the wire. That pre season narrative of "not a tough schedule" needs to go away
It is “funny” to hear how Mizzou has an easy schedule, then you look at Norte Dame’s schedule with Texas A&M being their biggest test, just makes you shake your head.
I agree with the Kewan Lacy kudos, he looked very good. I also really liked Noel and Carroll. Carroll is a real battering ram and Noel has a good shimmy and burst. Running game is in good shape.
I would disagree with your take on Brady Cook throwing the deep ball well last year. I think the receivers did a great job of adjusting to Brady's mediocre deep ball. Rarely did he hit someone in stride. As I said in the previous video the deep balls he missed against Murray State looked worse after seeing your end zone view of the plays. I mean, I hope that as the season goes on he'll get in a little more sync but I was expecting to see improvement right from the first game and I don't think I saw much of that from Brady.
they took care of business the way a top 10-15 team ought to do. So on that point, they did great. Games like this haven't always been so great for Missouri especially at the beginning of the season. You should be impressed because Mizzou football very very rarely opens a season or plays a low-level opponent with such dominance. They are opening this season with the fight we would expect for such a team. Other reasons to be impressed is the defense looked good and that was a total concern; the running game looked great; the big stars all got action and made plays; the backups got a lot of work and played well; no devastating injuries. Since we aren't Alabama, we need to celebrate anything that adds momentum. Maybe if we were Alabama and have a handful of national championships we could be lukewarm about the game. But we are not blue blood...so this opening game seemed to be like the program has leveled up. Just last season we squeaked out some narrow wins against lesser opponents. So, one final reason to be impressed: when is the last shut out Mizzou won? When is the last time Mizzou opened the season with a shut out?
You are claiming that you don’t believe Brady Cook isn’t beyond reproach while basically telling anyone with an opinion other than Cook is a top QB are wrong and aren’t welcome to share that opinion on your channel. Mixed messages my friend. No I do not believe Cook is a top QB. He makes me nervous throwing off his back foot floating passes like he does. I think that’s fair. Even with those faults he can get the job done but I also believe these offensive weapons can carry a decent QB. And even though he’s not a top passer I think he’s an explosive athlete on the ground and can make up for those deficiencies on the ground. He’s still the best guy for the job on the roster. Anyway I still like the channel but comments like those are a bit off putting.
No, there is specially one person who is calling Cook "NAIA Brady". It's dumb and it's insulting to a great Tiger. Like I said, have all the opinions you want, but when people say that kind of stuff, I will call them out on their stupidity. That's a lot different than saying you're worried Brady sails a few too many balls.
I dont get how Brady is still getting hate. He sailed a few passes, iys week 1. Kinda have to knock if the rust of not playing a true game in like 8 months. To whoever keeps calling Brady "NAIA Brady" needs to just leave. There are things that need to be cleaned up a bit that's football.
I can understand people hating on Cook, last year, but once the season progressed, he proved that he’s a solid starting quarterback. He will be fine
The drone show was cool. I thought they might have an image of you up there.
Ha! Next year.
Cook is a top 4 QB in the SEC (talent wise), and on top of that probably one of the easiest people to cheer for. We're lucky to have him as our QB
@@MizzouShane I agree top 15 for sure maybe even sneaking into 10-8 spot depending on the day

This team looks great, we are going to the Buffalo game next weekend and then the BC game! Let’s continue the great defense and explosive offense! MIZ

Thanks for the show John! MIZ!!!
You bet!
Big fan of Locked on Mizzou!
Thanks!

Notre Dame has never been as good as advertised
Virginia tech and notre dame were overrated granted vandy won but VT was way over ranked
Vandy will always and forever be a trap game for Mizzou. I don’t remember the last time I wasn’t a little nervous in game at some point.
@@stormageddon248 eh last year was pretty easy ik not same team but still vandy

Not a quality enough opponent to really learn anything. I look forward to week 3 and 4 to really see where we are at as a team

I wasn't impressed or disappointed. It was a dominant performance, especially defensively. There wasn't enough there either way.
