Keeley and Rebecca’s friendship is one of the best female friendships on TV. I really expected that Keeley will follow the dumb model trope and i’m sooo glad i was wrong. Their friendship was so unexpected but i’m so happy it’s there. Keeley also acts as a moral compass for her as well i think

Yes! I also love that the only conflict in their friendship is the paparazzi incident and Keeley wanting Rebecca to hold herself accountable for it. But there's no love triangle or rivalry or conflict between their very different personalities. They both complement each other's strengths and weaknesses and see the best in each other, which makes it that much more effective when Keeley is the one to confront Rebecca, and that much more satisfying when we see that they're still friends after that.

I love it when TV shows me fraudsters promoting unqualified women into positions of power and them becoming friends, it’s so lovely. If Keeley’s her moral compass why hasn’t she gone to the authorities about Rebecca’s crimes, why is she choosing to benefit from them? She has all the moral compass of Carrie Johnson.
My favourite line was when Roy storms out in about ep 3. Ted turns to Beard & says “if you think he’s mad now, wait til we win him over”. It was at that point you realise Ted knows exactly what he is doing. And it pays off - in the next episode Roy is reading A Wrinkle in Time to his niece when the penny drops. He realises why Ted gave him that book, and what Ted wanted him to learn. And he totally loses his shit.
and then later in the season roy says something like "its so hard to love you sometimes." and stomps away angrily and ted looks at coach beard and hes like "you heard it, right?" and coarch beard is like "he loves youuu!". he HATES how much he loves ted and its hilarious and endearing.

I think he borrowed that from "The Princess Bride", but it worked so well and the entire scene was so brilliant that it hadn't even occurred to me until just now.

Yes!!! It's a comedy where no one is just the butt of the joke, where every character gets a chance to be their best! It made me so happy. It's been a while since I just enjoyed something so much.
Also, if you _are_ into futbol, there's a bunch of cool references that the show makes to the sport and its history, which I found super nice!
Not a comedy but, surprisingly, Cobra Kai excels at that same thing of not making anyone the "butt of the joke", as it were. With one obvious exception, appearing in later seasons, the show does not have any cliche antagonist. All of the drama and conflict occurs, while everyone is trying to do their best, but misunderstandings and misconceptions keep creating and perpetuation conflicts. It becomes a wonderful analogy for "religious wars", ideological conflicts, and the negative influences of "group-think", in a way I never expected from a rehashing of Karate Kid. Much like Ted Lasso, it has a ton of heart and insight which never beats the viewer over the head with it.
It is a show I never would have bothered to watch, if people who's opinion on narrative quality I respect, had not told me it absolutely was worth watching. Yet I got utterly addicted to that show in a way I have not been by anything (other than possibly Ted Lasso) in the last twenty years.

Rebecca helping Ted out of his panic attack was one of the most unexpected and compelling scenes of the show so far. Them bonding over both going through a divorce was a such a great character point for both.
Easily my favourite moment in the show, and one of the best television moments ever. It provides such fantastic storytelling for both, and growth for both characters, without devolving into the 'will they/won't they' nonsense.
Ted Lasso seems at first to be a cornfest about how kindness is contagious. But it's really about how difficult it often is to be a good person. How we can so easily become the worst versions of ourselves and how much work it is to stay kind and caring in an often unkind, uncaring world.
And how keeping that kindness is absolutely worth it no matter how difficult it is

I really hope the Nate storyline in Season 3 goes into this idea. I really want to see Nate become super-evil then have a redemption arc.

I will never stop talking about the beauty in Jamie’s arc over the two seasons. The way his relationship with Roy but more importantly with himself is astounding

One of the most special parts about this show is the fact that the conflict is resolved so easily, but no less meaningfully. It's so unique, yet completely on-brand, and absolutely captivating
Yes! The typical sitcom sort of conflict where youre screaming at the TV to just have the characters TALK ABOUT THE ISSUE isnt there. Things are confronted, but just like in real life, doesnt mean theyre solved. Relationships are hard enough without adding unnecessary ambiguity and this show does a great job with that.

Plus he also had a lot of guilt over his part in Ruperts affair, i wish they would have touched more on that.

One of the brilliant things about Ted Lasso is that there really isn’t an antagonist, and every character is humanized. The closest thing it gets to a true villan is Rupert (whose actions drive the plot, but he is only in, like, two episodes), and thats about it.
Maybe Rupert gets fleshed out more in season 2
Well, scrubs was that way too! And it's one of my all time favorite shows.
Nearly all the characters were likeable, and it's the hardships of day to day life that was the main drive for the plot, not "an antagonist", and I prefer that tbf since it makes the show a better watch.
That show had heart too, and I'm so glad this show does that, instead of just being a comedy with barely likeable characters.
@@samf.s8786 you know, I never considered that! Scrubs may not always be an optimistic show, but it's never antagonistic. Even Kelso, who gets built up to be this evil old man who hates everyone and is super fake is actually revealed to have a soft side. He often doesn't enjoy having to kick people out of the hospital bc they can't afford it (even tho Cox will let you believe that). Then when he retires, he becomes even gentler, and his relationship w Ted becomes more of a camaraderie than a dude afraid of his boss. Love that!

@@thesportscourt Yes, Bill Lawrence! While I don't think we can give him all the credit for the show being so good, his involvement clearly shines through when thinking about how much alike Ted Lasso is to Scrubs!

Ted Lasso: I guess I'll just ignore these 20 Emmy nominations then.
People watching don't care about awards. We either like the show or we don't. It winning (or not winning) awards doesn't affect that. Awards are only good for the publicity, which make people curious about what they might be missing.
What I particularly love about Rebecca’s story is how clearly her husband’s controlling behavior and emotional abuse isolated her, and her healing through S1 comes from her no longer being isolated - Higgins was too weak and complicit to be her real ally at first, but Rebecca gets Ted, and through Ted gets Keeley’s love and friendship and (to a lesser extent) the AFC Richmond team’s respect. She reconnects with her best friend Sassy and god-daughter Nora. Thanks to all of that she heals enough to accept Higgins’s support, and stand strong on her own. It’s gorgeous.
(spoiler warning) This comedy series about Americans not getting British sports starring Jason Sudeikis had two of the most intense, gut-punch, bawl-worthy scenes that I've watched since probably BoJack Horseman. The scene where Ted Lasso has a panic attack outside the club and the scene where he signs the divorce papers and then sleeps with Rebecca's friend destroy me every time. I have NEVER seen a panic attack so perfectly captured in my life, and the music that plays in the second scene...just wow. Brilliant, brilliant show.
Also the "Divorce is hard" scene between Ted and Rebecca. Beautiful.

The soundtrack and music choices for the show are so good. Major additions to the emotion of each scene. The music as they read Trent crimms article. Loved it.

I kinda disagree with this. To me it’s a cool character but with all of the amazing characters in the show he is unquestionably at the bottom. Maybe it’s just cus he doesn’t have much to do or much of an arc but I like every other major character over him.
@@aja3longhorn375 the beard is both the ghost in the machine, and the ground that keeps Ted on track. I see where you are coming from but I think he is meant to be mysterious and have no arc. If Roy Kent can be CGI, the beard is super natural haha.

Ted's response to Rebecca making the "my father" joke had me roped in hard. Just the level of nuance there. I believe thats in the 1st ten minutes.

Ted Lasso has positive male and female friendships, actually well-written redemption arcs (think Zuko from ATLA - nobody just magically becomes a good person in this show), plots surrounding mental health and trauma - Ted's relationship with Dr. Fieldstone is especially great. This show has made me cry for the best reasons ugh.
Oh man, I really love how everyone ends up loving him but not just because he's so nice and goofy and the main character but because he actually earns their respect and love.
Ted lasso is Schitts Creek good. Its just good writing, its not trying to give us a complete 180 from one episode to the next, its just trying to give us multilayered people, not characters. The marriage between Ted and his wife is so well written, not just because of the reasons that you listed but because you can infer so much about their relationship. Ted and his wife feel like they weren't just married, they were best friends. They still love each other and have a child together but they want what's best for each other. Usually divorce's are always portrayed as messy but this was refreshing. Hannah Waddingham (who was also featured on the short lived series Krypton) is a goddess!! Her friendship with Keely is just beautiful and so well written.
In my opinion it’s better. It hits more to home since my father! is a former player from Chelsea but i have been raised in America all my life. It’s just a show of that hits too close to home because my father is very similar to Roy Kent. I watch this show with my dad and he see’s himself as Roy. It’s great to have this connection with my father with this show.
@@brendanmayhew6280 I don't have any sporting connection, but I agree that Schitt's Creek's magic doesn't hit everyone the same! I had to slog through the first ...two? seasons? before I started to care about anyone at all except maybe Stevie, and even at the end I just enjoyed it without quite understanding the full out love.
Ted Lasso was much quicker to pull me in, and I'm way more invested in everyone! I think the difference was that for a long, long, long time in Schitt's, the characters were down and out and no one cared all that much about anyone else except in the most cursory way--so I had a hard time caring about them either. Ted Lasso, you can feel people are INVESTED in things, in people, in ideas and goals.
I"m glad there's different programing out for people to sample!

I've tried watching episodes of Schitts that have come on TV and have been blown away by how much I disliked the show. Many characters seemed poorly acted, and too unrealistic for the tone of the show, but I understand that watching out of order, random episodes that I definitely didnt give it a fair shot. Maybe I should try it again.
Meryl Simmons, that is an extremely bold statement. I have seen Schitt's Creek 3 times now and love, love it. Because of SC clips I watch on UA-cam, it lead me to Ted Lasso clips which lead me to watching Ted Lasso. I am thankful for this.

The thing I loved about Ted Lasso was the dialogue. You know how sometimes you'll watch a show and everything that the characters are saying is just explaining the plot? The characters on Ted Lasso could just be talking about relatable nonsense that has nothing to do with the story and it just tells us so much about who they are as people.
I LOVE that there is a much deeper reason to teds overwhelming positivity.

@@jatinchanchlani8982 It's in season 2 - which is just as crazy, just as funny and just as heartwarming as season 1. Highly recommend. I don't want to give too much away if you haven't seen it, but the reason for Ted's constant positivity is really fleshed out in some of the best scenes of the show, in my opinion.
When she went in and told Ted everything she did and he accepted her apology. I cried. I cried both time I watched it. It's one of the best things I've ever seen on a TV Show.
To me this is an incredible example of subverting audience expectations! This was a confrontation that had been built to since episode one and I was so expecting for an episode or so of uncomfortable separation/ tension after it. Having Ted so quickly forgive Rebecca was an emotion sucker punch that feels earned, makes sense for the characters, and surprises audiences. So many moments that subvert audience expectations do so by having something terrible happen ( not to say I don’t love some of these moments) but having the twist be positive ( especially for ted lasso) is genius in my opinion.
@@lwitte8857my favorite part is if you watch Teds face, you can see the anger at first, but because its Ted and we've already seen his lifes philosophy you can actively see the anger fade away as he listens and recognizes that Rebeccas actions are purely out of her own pain and not because shes a bad person. In just a couple seconds of facial reactions you can see Ted go from anger to recognition to forgiveness, long before Rebecca finishes her apology.
I cried when it was revealed that Ted was making the biscuits from scratch. Here's Rebecca, a scorned woman who is willing to hurt someone even though she's also going to hurt someone who doesn't deserve it. And then there's Ted, who is genuinely trying to be nice and taking time out of his day to make someone something from scratch. I got so emotional watching that.
The way my mom loves Ted Lasso and when I told her you were making this video she was actually excited for a youtube video for the first time in her life.
My brother absolutely loves Ted Lasso! When I saw this video I told him immediately and not only has he already watch it but he has also seen the Emily in Paris video :)

SPOILER - - - I like that for several episodes, only Ted and the audience knew where those biscuits came from despite Rebecca's efforts to uncover the source. It's a great vehicle to include the audience in the story to some extent.
The anxiety scene was damn accurate it made me cry.
Not a commonly known fact: Ted Lasso has the same production studio and some of the same writing talent behind it that made Scrubs. Not sure if you've ever seen Scrubs but it's definitely worth checking out if you liked Ted Lasso.

That panic attack sticks with me for some reason. I think it hit a lot of us emotionally.
Looking at the season 2 trailer, I hope that Sam Obisanya and Dani Rojas get more fleshed out as characters. Honestly, Ted Lasso is such a binge worthy show. My dad and I watched about 6 episodes one night because of how good the pacing of the show is. Can't wait for season 2!!

Thankfully, yes!!! They have said that the secondary characters, Sam and Dani for example, are going to get more screen time and be more developed. We did see this in episode 1 of season 2.
They have been and it’s great. Especially Sam. (SPOILER ALERT) Its just unfortunate the scene where Sam goes against the sponsor would never happen in real life due to a multitude of reasons. In the show it’s not seen as that much of a big deal (yet) but the repercussions of such an action would be enormous so if they explore those possibilities I would be more than happy. Dani Rojas is still a bit 2D but with such a character it’s very easy to give him a lot of background and detail later on so I still have a lot of hope for him.

I don’t know why it took me so long to watch this show. I loved the skits he did for NBC years ago. It’s such a great show and the dart scene is so memorable. Glad you are covering it.

Ted Lasso is a masterpiece I’m fully invested in every character and Ted is such a captivating character. Can’t wait for all the future seasons
My favorite aspect of the show that I didn’t see coming was when they threw the audience off when they made Jamie seem like an ok guy in his very first scene and Roy seem like the jerk but it turned out to be the other way around.
If it wasn’t for this video, I never would have watched the show. I cannot possibly thank you enough for the immense amount of joy I have gotten out of binge-watching the first season of this absolutely fantastic show.

Let's be honest, we would all want to watch your episode-by-episode breakdown of this show, where you talk about your thoughts and feelings about what's going on. This show had me crying multiple times and I honestly want so much more, from this show and from others like it. It was a surprise for me, it came out of nowhere, I was just recommended by a friend without any preamble and I went for it.
Now only is every single character well written, they're written with a lot of depth and a whole lot of character evolution. Every person Ted meets is not just equal, they're all equally *important* to him, he cares, deeply, about everyone. And we need more Ted Lassos in this world.
I second this! And the new season comes out in a month so it's relevant.
I am almost done watching Season 3 and I am so attached to this show, I already know I'll be heartbroken when I get to the end of it. Ted Lasso achieved the impossible: made me wanna play football

When I first heard of Ted Lasso I made a snap judgement that a show with such a asinine premise would not be worth my time, I believe I was in good company.
But towards the end of the first run, I stumbled upon more than a few intriguing reviews and decided to be curious. Well, I was reeled in, hook, line and sinker. From what I’ve read, mine is a rather common story.
I’ve watched a fair share of TV drama and comedy over my 62 years and I’ve enjoyed most of it as well crafted entertainment but with an appropriate detachment, it’s just fiction after all.
It’s a truly rare event when I have concerns about the fate of fictitious characters to the extent of feeling trepidation before each new installment. And that’s nothing compared to the elation I experience when good things happen to them and the sadness when they’re down. But I’m comforted in knowing I’m not alone in being sad.
I’ve loved every episode and had my share of goose bumps, lump in the throat and many tears.
A certain amount of suspension of disbelief was required but that’s ok.
It is possible that the present circumstances have made me more receptive to such a show, I don’t know. Regardless, I’m grateful for it’s existence.
Nonetheless, I can’t help but try to understand why Ted Lasso has had such a unusual impact on myself as well as on many others.
My take is that, while Seinfeld was the show about nothing, Ted Lasso is the show about everything. More to the point, it’s about life.
AFC Richmond, the stadiums, the games are just background, the canvas on which the lives of the characters unfold. There is no plot, the team wll be ok. It’s about the multiple stories that crisscross one another and that we observe and get captivated and enthralled by. Lives very much like ours. Of course most of us don’t have the material comfort of those individuals but, except for Rebecca, their position is precarious. So they, as we, must navigate life without a clear roadmap. In the last episode Ted said it so well, life is about making choices. We do our best, we try, we stumble, we make mistakes, we learn, we take the good, we accept the bad, we correct, we fix, we make amends, we keep going and, hopefully, we become the better versions of ourselves. Onward, Forward.
This show is not plot driven but it is message driven. It seeks to show the way but is not about the destination it’s about the journey. Each generation as an impact on the next and it’s a responsability to be taken with earnestness. Dereliction of duty can have long lasting effect.
But there’s, most of all, a message of hope. Wounds can be healed, what is stuck can be freed,the lost can find the right path with a little help from our friends. It’s about how loving, caring, trusting can clear the path forward. It’s about honesty with others but mostly with ourselves. It’s about the courage to show ourselves, warts and all, without a mask of fierceness, of meekness or of happyness. It’s about the value of friendship and the strenght of solidarity.
This unrelenting optimism, at once Ted’s stenght and weekness, is the reason the show is comedy and not drama. Ultimately, everything is funny and for the same reason that there are few fates worst than being sad and alone the best laughs are the ones shared with the most.
I look forward to the rest of the journey.
To the creators of the show and to the extremely talented cast and crew I can only say,
job well done and thank you.

The scene where Rebecca comforts Ted during his panic attack was soooooo emotionally epic.
I’ve been genuinely trying to get everyone I know to watch this show because it’s absolutely brilliant and it makes me so mad so many people don’t know about it. I started watching it with my mom after an award’s show where Jason won and we had zero expectations and thus were completely unprepared by how much we loved it. We binged it in like two days and then convinced my dad to watch it and he also binged it in like two days. It’s unbelievably good and I can’t wait for season 2!
It felt so wholesome that I was really worried something would happen to ruin the show after the first episode or so. I thought, wait no I love this show... what's going to happen?! I didn't want to get my hopes up too much. I almost don't want to get too excited until I'm in front of the TV about to watch season 2, haha. Ted is such a wonderful character!! ☺🥺🤗 I wanted to tell everyone about this show, too! I hate that I'm so used to liking a show and then feeling like its hanging by a lifeline to just get canceled! 💔
during a very rough period with my mother, she offered to watch the first season with me. I was skeptical, she was afraid, but i decided to go along with it.
We both fell into childish giggles as we wrote down our favorite lines in a shared notebook, analyzing them and how some of the characters issues related to our own lives, and our current relationship with each other.
It was such a simple thing, but to enjoy a show with such wide themes and intense, (personally) relatable conflict, felt like a breath of a fresh air
the show in no way cleared the problems i am having with my mother, but it sort of settled the bursting volcano, just to let eachother indulge in the simple pleasure of such an extraordinarily brilliant show. to bask in its witty one liners and unique takes on life long struggles.
When my brother got me into the show, he said it best:

I saw the NBC skits a few years ago about Ted Lasso - the obnoxious fish-out-of-water American Football coach who tries to coach the beautiful game....
Mildly amusing, but forgettable.

About Trent Krimm, looking back I think he sniffed out that there was something extremely wrong about Ted’s hire but he can’t put it together (he can’t figure out it’s a sabotage hire) so he’s snooping around wondering what the “ANGLE” of the hire is.
Ted’s kindness is able to disarm him into writing what he truly thinks and truly believes about what he’s seen over the day.
I think the biggest disadvantage of apple+ is that there's people who don't use apple at all (obvious, but a big disadvantage for the company). No one in my family has any apple device, so there's no way we'll get apple+. But ya don't need a specific software to get netflix.

@@sashy7360 The only reason I got to watch it at all was because of my Dad. Unlike everyone else in my family prefers he iPads over Samsung tablets and got one for his birthday. Thanks to the free trial with an apple product deal we were able to sign up without having to pay for the subscription. And with that I got to enjoy this wonderful show (which I knew i would since Bill Lawrence the main writer also created and wrote Scrubs and Clone High two of my favorites.) But man! Do I hope it eventually pulls a Kobra Kai and it eventually gets brought to Netflix. I want more people to see this wonderful gem of a show!
Additionally to fire devices there is an Apple TV+ app for newer smart TVs. Also, there is one for the PS5 (maybe also XBox?) that I personally use.

Finally, I was waiting for a good youtuber to make a video on Ted Lasso, I love this show so much.
Ted Lasso manages to tell its stories with such depth and care, it reminds me almost of Mr.Robot or Breaking Bad in that sense. What makes it so unique, for me, is that it brings this deep, rich, dynamic, realistic, relatable series of story arcs to a comedy/drama format - something I've seen approached by other comedies, but never done with the finesse Ted Lasso has been able to achieve. In fact, my only real concern with the series is that it might be a long time before another comedy like this comes around.

I didn’t expecting this show being so good, I rewatched it 2 times almost back to back, then I watched the 3rd time when I had relapse episode of depression. It’s just so wholesome and Jason Sudeikis really surprised me!
I feel like no show will ever be diverse enough, someone is also going to complain it's not diverse enough. This show does a great job at it. Brett Goldstein is jewish, Nick Mohammed is muslim, Toheeb Jimoh is Nigerian, Cristo Fernandez is from Guadalajara, etc. They have a very diverse cast. Not to mention this was made only during the first season story lines were still getting developed the second season a lot the players more of a voice and let their characters develop more :))

This show questions masculinity SO WELL. It's beautiful.
Nah, not at all. Roy’s still a man’s man for instance. You don’t feel anyone’s weak even when vulnerable.
It just asks them to be the better version of themselves. What they were wasn’t toxic masculinity, a term I despise…it’s fake masculinity. It’s phony. It’s covering up deep seeded issues.
Real masculinity IS taking charge when you need to take charge, but it is also knowing when you need help. It’s being a man’s man for the right woman, but being a teammate in the family with the wife, and not just the leader and “what I say goes”.
To me, a strong man and a strong women equate to an unstoppable team, and one that builds a better masculinity
I agree that masculinity is a core topic of Ted Lasso. The show does not simply question it, though. It offers solutions. It's all about putting your masculinity to work for a greater good, on a daily basis. About positivity in the face of adversity. About putting your community's interests higher than your own. About the strength in vulnerability. About the difference between giving up and letting go. Between curiosity and judgement (and yeah, these can be surprisingly easy to confuse). Between real masculinity, and the misrepresentation of it that recent generations have grown up with.

Rebecca is the exact opposite -- she's an aging trophy wife, who learns to stand up to adversity, take responsibility, and help others carry their weight (so basically masculinity).
@@todorsamardzhiev144 standing up to adversity isn’t a masculine trait by any standards, it’s just a human trait. If anything, Rebecca’s early season 1 ruthlessness no matter anyone else’s feelings might be considered “masculine”, though obviously the need to get revenge on her husband is a very big “woman scorned” stereotype. I really don’t see her arc as being mirrored in Roy’s in any way, they (and Jamie, too) just similarly learn to recognise their own faults and be more considerate of others. Or rather *allow* themselves to be more considerate of others, and show it.

Ted’s masculinity is the most interesting, he has real issues showing “weakness” (like going to therapy) but he channels it in positivity.
Nate is an interesting case too, he really overcompensates for his insecurity by asserting dominance over those he can. I wonder where his character will go, out of all the portrayals of masculinity in the show his is the only one that might be considered toxic.
As a "person of color" I don't really care about that stuff in the slightest. Me being a Latino woman doesn't stop me from identifying with an Asian 86 year old man if we have similar personalities and issues.
This show is a fucking masterpiece, simple as that. Diversity of characters and plotlines, that's what matters.
while i agree with you, on the other hand i do enjoy when one of the main characters is female, it makes me more attached to the story, as i'm a woman. On the other other hand if I were to write a book there would be no way I would include any person of color, unless it was fantasy book, as there are almost none in my environment (eastern europe) and if I did, it would be insincere, only for the sake of pandering because i don't really know the problems. At least this is what i think currently.

It would be hard for me to write book from a perspective of someone from Kazahstan/USA/North Korea, as I don't really know how it is to live in these places. And I think knowledge and experience is important to write about something honestly.

There are some theories and indications that women are generally better at empathy than men (this part is proven) because they had to look for role models that differed from them, because even now the vast majority of main characters are still male. In other words, marginalized groups have to be better at identifying with those that don't share their superficial traits, but the problem is bigger than that:
a) Not everyone has such an easy time as you. Kids certainly don't intrinsically and - as explained above - have to learn it.
b) Even so it's still easier to have a role model that's closer to you.
c) It's also not just about the person identifying with someone but the other way round. A white cishet man can watch an awful lot of movies without ever rooting for anyone who isn't a white cishet man. Get him to feel with someone other than that and he realizes that "those people" do exist in real life with real struggles, just like him.
At least that's my perspective as a white cishet man who feels like he benefitted from diverse heroes.
PS: I'm also a teacher and I can tell you that many teenage boys are completely oblivious about gender inequality and do not see girls as full human beings. They would read stories about boys who finesse (i.e. lie) their way into a girl's heart and fully accept that telling the truth would be stupid, because of the bottom line. No consideration that the other character who isn't in the point of view also has a skin in the game.
Binged the whole show after this and it was incredible. The scene in season 2 with Jamie and his dad and Roy had me in tears for so many reasons it was such a beautiful end for Jamie's arc and his relationship with Roy. God I can't wait for season 3
I thoroughly enjoyed Ted Lasso, especially having gone into it with no expectations whatsoever. I rewatched it with my roommate the other day, whose comment upon seeing the full football team for the first time, simply was: "Finally, a TV team that looks like a REAL football team!", meaning the diversity of the players. So here's to Season 2 (and 3) and to hopefully seeing a lot more fun storylines for the likes of Sam, Nate, Dani and mooooore :)

I started watching Ted Lasso because Bill Lawrence (the creator of Scrubs) is the showrunner, and it did not dissapoint! It's so real and refreshing compared to other shows, it's shocking.

If you don't really like it after episode 1, keep going! It might take a few but it is worth it. The more I watched, the more all of the characters appealed to me in different ways. Some were annoying but they were still well rounded and fleshed out. You'll like it!! 👍
If you were surprised by the shows heart, you should have looked at the showrunner. Bill Lawrence was the mind behind Scrubs and Cougertown. Both are shows that pack that emotional punch while having goofy humor to offset the heavy that can be touched.

By the time this show is said and done I really think I could call it one of my favorites of all time. Season 2 is already progressing amazingly, and I really hope however long the show goes on it'll keep up the quality it's managed to reach. I love this show, everybody watch it please.

I binged the entire season (series?) and sheer with all of the things you said! It balances the aspects of comedy and drama in a way that, like Bill Lawerence’s Scrubs, does so impressively.
The choice of music is a nice layer and the characters are engaging. Also, the way they turned the “Practice” rant by Allen Iverson into the show was brilliant. Top notch writing and acting and production across the board.
Always been a fan of Jason Sudeikis since the millers but That Tv Show was Something else, Didn't really expect it to be THIS Good. Awesome Storytelling.

I'm only about halfway through and disappointed that I haven't heard anything about the absolute genius of Bill Lawrence and his involvement, which absolutely makes this show incredible.
Here's the thing about Ted Lasso: It tells you it's a sports comedy but it has nothing to do with sports. Ted Lasso could be managing literally anything from a Box Factory to a Police Precinct. All that's relevant is that he's a fish out of water, he's an underdog that nobody wants to like, and he's hard-packed with heart. The characters could have any job, the relevant thing is that they all have problems, typically in the workplace and the solutions are unexplored and Ted is willing to explore them. Simple! What makes Ted Lasso better than any underdog boss comedy is that some shit doesn't work, no matter how clever it is or how much Ted Lasso loves everyone and when they lose you feel that in your gut and that's phenomenal.
The observation that Ted doesn't let the anger of disappointment of others affect him undermines the fact that Ted isn't immune to criticism or anger. He is exposed like no character ever on television. He's in a precarious position, he doesn't have the confidence he's forced to project as he fakes-it-till-he-makes-it. He has these brief moments in the show where he lets that weariness and pain show and it just guts you to watch this poor guy who's constantly beat on who struggles to smile through it.
A couple minutes in and Mr. Ninja made the show sound so good I went to binge it... I’ve now come back to finish this video because he was right it’s amazing

I love so many things about this show!
One of the most beloved ones is that it shows a healthy way of resolving conflicts. That’s so goddamn refreshing! There are countless examples on tv of how not to do and they are normally driving the plot. That thing always pisses me off: when instead of just talking to each other or being immediately honest people start making assumptions/lying and end up being in trouble. So, you would say that viewers shall learn from their mistakes, but instead it just becomes „normal way“. I was really missing a representation of a healthy relationship, that has conflicts, but where people deal with them in a respectful and honest manner. Roy and Keeley relationship is the perfect example!

I am IN LOVE with how you talk about the characters, I recently watched season 2 (one of the rare shows which has a season 2 thats not completely horrible) and I think it was a great idea to put one of the side characters closer to the front, going back and watching the old episodes again really shows how the character was always ‘troubled’ in some way but, due to his position, was unable to let that come to fruition and work out his issues
Yessssss I love Ted Lasso! As a woman, it really stood out to me how the show is careful not to villify women for a joke or for drama. You mentioned how Michelle isn't villified simply because she wants a divorce, which I love, but also I realized that in the Diamond Dogs scenes I was braced for someone to be like "I don't know man, women are crazy, who understands them anyway" etc, and then it... never happened? A bunch of men were standing around talking about their troubles with women and a woman was never the butt of a joke?? The jokes were about other things? That's wild to me. I didn't even realize how commonplace it is until the joke never came and I realized I'd been subconsciously expecting it. I don't think I would have even noticed if they had gone with a "women are crazy" joke, but I definitely noticed when they *didn't.*
And on the other side of that coin, I love that men were standing around talking about feelings, and the feelings were never the butt of a joke. How often do we get to see men crying over a kids' movie, having a panic attack, being vulnerable in front of each other, etc, and NOT have a writer try and get a laugh out of it because "hurr durr men with feelings are funny"? The Iron Giant scene was hilarious because Ted called it and it was therefore funny (and relatable) to see it play out as he predicted, not because of the emotions themselves.
It's so refreshing, I'm so happy, GOD I hope season 2 is good.
I agree completely. I've heard a lot of people comment that Ted turns Rebecca around. But what I love is that Sassy and Keely are who really help Rebecca grow. Rebecca's face when Keely tells her that she must tell Ted about the videos, and Rebecca asks what good would it do now, and Keely says, "It would change how I feel about you." What a powerful moment between two women, something we rarely see in media!
Yes, good points, well made but it is the sheer unpredictability of so many women that I have met in my 68 years in London that is so bewildering. lol Current perfect example. I have had an open relationship with a very attractive 45-year-old Woman for 27 years and have seen her 1,000 times now, approximately. Up to 6 weeks ago,I was seeing her a great deal and did help her out, as she requested and she repaid me with gratitude. Since then I have seen her once in 6 or 7 weeks and 2 weeks ago, she rang to see me and then disappeared. Last week she texted to say that she would ring "in 20 minutes" and she never responds to my twice-weekly Wssaps. Complete 180 Degree turn from seeing me regularly and all going well to ghosting and ignoring me without me doing anything other than helping her when she needed some help. That is why I don't understand them and I could give you a lifetime of other examples as a single guy.
