For a radio ( model 32) made in 1934 it works amazingly well. The chassis was used in several models at the time and apparently one at least had a provision for a phonograph connection ( console model 35? ).This model was built and
designed by Willard Radio Co. Gilfillan bought them out in 1932 because they made "superhet" radios as this one is. Old English really made this cabinet look refreshed. Boy I wished I lived near the museum Seth. Lots of nice spectacular old
    radios up for auction!

Hi thanks for mentioning my comment about the cost of 'Old English' in England. Yes, 20 GBP is about 25 USD.

I use the 6volt heater voltage and rectify, filter it and power a single transistor preamp. I'm sure the purist kind of people would go to the bathroom over that 😆. But it can be easily removed 😆. A transistor 😱

AM and FM must be on opposite sides. Pretty 😍 Mickey Mouse 🐭 job with the masking tape. Electrolytic capacitors will need to be replaced. Your friend, Jeff.

I agree with your process for "restoring" cabinets. I only ever strip the original finish off if it's just too terrible to save. 1) It's easier 2) It looks more original. I don't use Old English, just a coat of the nearest matching restoring oil and then a wax finish to keep the shine there.

Beautiful radio. Volume control not in the audio frequency AF circuit? Might have to put a switch in and inject at first AF amplifier. Gain would be at maximum so clicks and pops could be troublesome. Volume could be controlled at the Bluetooth or input device. Interesting troubles.

Excellent. I have seen you use Old English successfully many times. Some of those chips in the dark base molding can be touched up with a brown marker. I bought a marker and was filler kit on the big A bor 7.99. Works good and I have over $50 invested in Mohawk TU stuff. I did a video about using the 7.99 kit if you want to check it out. It's too easy to not do do this.

It would be interesting to know what some of the older capacitors tested. You wouldn't have to do it on camera. I'm just thinking about entertainment value. Thank you so much for the interesting video.

After changing those electrolytics under the chassis, it looked like that radio got emptied out completely of most of the guts. I see why the collectors re-stuff those in order to keep the nostalgic looks underneath.
One thing that’s got me confused is I thought the three gang tuning capacitors needed an extra tube to amplify that signal thus making the classic AA5 into a six tube radio. I wonder what the difference is with that radio having a three gang tuning capacitor but only the typical five tubes vs a radio having the same three gang tuning capacitor WITH that extra sixth tube? Is one a gimmick?
