I've heard somewhere that they can be rebuilt, but it's quite expensive. At least I think I remembered that right. Very nice tribute to Betty White. She was quite a gal.
Enjoyable video!! The story of you meeting Betty White was interesting. I remember meeting William Shatner and shaking his hand about 40 years ago or so. Looking forward to your next episode.
Dear Buzz, I had started watching the videos of yours since the early beginning. Nowadays I am watching your work with a 42 Philco Radio. I had also watched others videos quite ahead of this very one.. My conclusion based in all I've watched is that you are a genius.
Great to see you back Buzz for another year of Mayhem and giggles. Also that radio phonograph looks like a great project. Doesn't look like anyone with two legs has worked on it before only the 4 legged mouse variety who had the speaker cone for lunch. Amazing how with a minimal amount of work how they still operate. Thanks for sharing Buzz.
Great video Buzz, I admit I had my doubts when you powered it up, but as usual you got it going! You may need to add some weight when you replace the crystal cartridge permanently to get the needle weight correct. Wonderful story and photo with the great Golden Girl Betty White. May she rest in peace.
Always great to see a new video from you Buzz. More fun in store when you open the door to a Buzz1151 video. Now there's yer promo lol. Cool radio and a nice farewell blink to Betty.
That old radio/phonograph caught a Buzz! Looks like another captivating series! 🥸 PS: My parents had a larger collection of old Big Band and music from the '40s & '50s on 78's when I was a kid, as a kid I remember I broke a few, they were so fragile. 👀
Great to see a new video , happy new year buzz 🎉, that old song is beautiful , tagged along with the age of the phonograph , and it still working is quite melancholic , thanks , wish you have great 2022
Thanks Buzz ! That was good . I thought you would use your toe nail again to play that record.😂 I was lucky enough to see Bob Hope in 1979 My sides still hurt. That is something I’ll never forget . Truly awaiting your next episode. Thanks so much. Dean

I had the crystal cartridge from my Meissner record/recorder rebuilt by West-tech. Thats expensive but in that case I wanted to keep the piece as original as I could. I like that cartridge you had on hand. I really like your memories. I did not know you once lived in LA. It looks like LA has a lot of homeless encampments these days.
Oh well, that's what Dickel gets for being sneaky. I'm glad you're doing a record player also. I have 78's on that label, and I knew they made electronic items, but never saw one in person.
2:35 Have you ever tried the wintergreen and alcohol treatment for old, cracked hard rubber? I used it many years ago and had success with it. You have to buy wintergreen oil (the green rubbing alcohol will not work) and mix it at the right ratio (I don't recall offhand what it is, but I can get it for you if you want it) with 91% rubbing alcohol and then soak the rubber for a day or two. I've had success with it and other people swear by it. The rubber is soft and pliable and most of all, it does not bleed or sweat the way brake fluid does. You might want to give it a try.

The radio will sound good with a speaker too. Nice job Buzz1151, Jack Webb would have been proud!
Hi Don...I grew up watching Betty on early LA tv shows, then games shows, long before she did Mary Tyler Moore Show. I always liked her as a kid,, she was just like my Mom, a real person.👍👍👍
Nice record player Buzzeroonie. A couple of years ago I saw a guy on Fleabay selling a box of record player needles and I saw a couple that looked useful so I bought the lot for like $40. Anyway, there were a bunch of various 78 rpm types that look like the ones I have seen you use. If you ever need something like this let me know and I will just drop it in a padded envelop and send it to you. Just don't tell Dickel, that little gnome bastard might break in my house to steal all of them so he can leverage a bottle of whiskey.

Hi Dion...There was a 50L6 in the set when I got it, and didn't notice till later, when I put in a 35L6 later...how did you know there was a 50L6 in it?😮
Usually you can use a 50L6 in place of a 35L6 with the only side effect being slower warm up time. It's actually better for the tubes given today's higher line voltages.
@@Buzz1151 Hey, Buzz...when you removed the chassis from the case and flipped it over I saw the tube marking for a moment.
