Thank you for bringing attention to the dangers of capacitors and this simple solution for safety!!! Just for information... From my research into personal ESD systems (such as the wrist strap type,) they use a 1M Ohm resistor tied to Earth ground. Of course, there is a large discussion about the amount of Ohms and the time it takes to discharge the cap. Everyone has an opinion.
Some multimeters that can measure capacitance will discharge the capacitor before giving the reading. My Fluke 12 does this... display shows DISC then after a few seconds the capacitor reading. So I'm just using my multimeter in capacitor mode to discharge the caps. Maybe you can check that with all of your multimeters and show a video about it to recommend one that does it.
i think there is no capacitor discharging facility in any multimeter. always there is caution that "discharge the capacitor before testing capacitance" you can also check user manual of fluke 12 at page 15, in the top row, there is prepation steps, before measuring capacitor. diSC message will appears when the capacitor voltage are higher than the multimeter's safe limits. i will recommend to discharge the capacitor before testing, it will better for your multimeter's long life xdevs.com/doc/Fluke/FLUKE%2012%20User.pdf
@@HaseebElectronics Fluke 12 does discharge the capacitor. I checked it with power supply capacitors. When working they are charged to over 200V and after touching Fluke 12 probes to check capacitance the display changes to DISC and after a few seconds it shows the capacitance reading. When switching to voltage mode the voltage measured on the capacitor is near zero so that means the multimeter discharged the capacitor. It would be interesting to know if there are other multimeters that discharge capacitors before taking the measurement.
Can we add a led indicator in this? Where main discharge current will flow through the resistence and a small current throuhg the led, flashing it once..
To make an isolation transformer; If I connect an 220v to 110v step down converter and 110v to 220v step up converter bact to back(220-110-110-220), can I have an isolation transformer to use on repairing faulty circuits and using osciloscope at non-isolated circuits?
Very nice. If we add one led with a 100k resistor parallel with a discharge resistor, we can see the discharge power level through led. It's my suggestion. Thanks
Are you sure that was 87 ohm resistor for 400 V ? In capacitor discharge calculater site, for discharge a 400V 100 microfarad capacitor, need a 1800W resistor. In fact, your 5W resistor must explode! How ???
*We can't make it any simpler*
yes. it is just an idea, so any one can modify it at his convenience
Actually you can. Use a car headlight bulb.
12v car bulb..? 😂😂 will burn in a second
@@pu8reLib That shows you know nothing about discharging capacitors through bulbs. It is not like you feed 350Vcc CONTINUOUSLY, genius...

A simple and effective tool that can save your life. Good work
Thank you teacher for the video. Much appreciated 🙏
Thank you sir, always need a simple discharging equipment. 😊
Excellent thanks for sharing this informative video keep sharing❤❤
Great sharing like always, keep it up brother.
Brother Haseeb,
Thank you so much. I have a question. Can we add to it LED to indicate the discharge?
no
LED will damage
Nice , usefull and easy. Thank you.

I was thinking about what if this was possible. Sounds like a good suggestion.
thank you very much sir...
Most welcome
Please which gadget can I find this resistor or can I use any resistor?
Teşekkürler efendim. Sevgi ve selamlar.
87 ohm 5 watt yüksek kapasiteli kondansatorler içinde uygunmu
Sir can you add missing components for cooling fan in chinese power supply
Awesome! Thank you indeed!!!!
Thank a lot 🙏👍
Good work
Thanks for sharing
Great idea, thanks a lot
Some tension release on those wires is needed otherwise it might break
Bravo ser!!!

Thanks sir...
Nice

Va alaikmussalam
If you want to discharge a capacitor, you will need a filament bulb.
Shouldn't do it but when in a rush I just use my pliers and short and hope all is ok. I am a true hack butcher
👍
Thanks sir 🙏
