      you are right
first i took size code (length and width)
      then datasheet
      then thickness
then circuit comparision for finding capacitor voltage (because too many voltage values are available in same thickness)
      at final stage i found 16V 10uF,
      16V 22uF,
      and 16 V 47uF,
if the capacitor is damaged then we can select any one of these 3 and testing the ripples at output stage for best fit component

well, he did narrow it down to 3 values. If you have a 2nd capacitor the same size on the board you could measure it. If no schematics are available you may just go with the largest value of that size and it could work. If still not lucky then try the smallest size. usually largest size will work because voltage is higher just the bigger ones cost ore and might not fit. I usually salvage something same size or bigger and just try it. I fixed a macbook the other day and just fitter a random cap, larger than the apple capacitor. It worked..

      @PDZsolt 2 місяці тому +5

@@izzzzzz6normally if its light colour( white)the value is rated as pF, if its light brown it could be nF if its dark brown its uF(sometimes nF but bigger values)
Thats what we noticed in the manufacturing company
However some people saying its more about the material they have used, but whenever i have done the programs this theory was always worked for me.

He did show how to find the data sheets for these surface mounted capacitors. I had no idea how to do that before. He narrowed down the possibilities, and then seemed to confirm the hypothesis.

Thank you for sharing the decode method.I didn't know it, great. The SMD codes are always a pain. Several times I had semiconductors with codes I couldn't find in SMD code books or the Internet. In this cases a repair was not possible. Resistors have 2 code schemas too. Very sad. 😢😢

yes the SMD codes are a biggest headache, actually it is step to make thinks non-repaireable. that is the reason most of the SMD parts are coded with some unknown marking and the codes are not revealed anywhere

Hi, thank you for sharing this video. As you showed us, there are many capacitor ratings for the same capacitor dimensions. Here you were able to measure one good capacitor, but if that capacitor may be in short (reason for us to be checking for its value in most cases), it would be very hard to say for sure which capacitor should we be replacing... Could you please explain to us how can we proceed in case of a failed capacitor? Thank you very much. Greetings.

Well defined video. The value would be anyones guess if you had a burnt cap, but if you do some math on the circuit in question, you can arrive at the value, like he did when he identified the chip on the board.Even though the datasheet showed pin 4 useda 10, it was actually a 22. Likely a timing/speed change in operation, or ripple supression as he answered in his post

As MLCC production techniques have improved considerably over the years you would also need to cross reference the approximate date of production of the circuit board with the datasheets you are using.
In general though, desolder such a capacitor and measure it's capacitance as you showed. Then infer a suitable voltage rating based on other components in circuit. Then your good to go.
There are other parameters that can be important. Dialectic strength for example. Although this is indicated by the color of the MLCC capacitor.

I think it would be much faster to use a good LCR-meter and measure the capacity. You can guess the voltage rating from the application or like you did with checking parallel components. Its not a problem when the voltage rating is a bit higher, but it shouldn't be less than the original.

Interesting only with Samsung capacitors because other manufacturers have other codes. I think in Aliexpress only 1210 and 22uF and 16V you could find it. But the problem is they are usually burned or shorted. And it is also difficult (for amateurs) with datasheet of the IC because the model circuit is not the same or you dont find the datasheet marked on the IC

    Dear Haseeb,
Thank you for your videos. I want to run a 1.5 volt wall clock with a 3.7 volt 18650 lithium battery. How do I do this? Please make a video or a short.
