This video prevented me from making some big and potentially costly mistakes. Getting the door handle off, and doing the handle mechanism swap and re-cabling on a bench is definitely the way to do this job... Many thanks.
Great video - thank you. I watched fully in advance, then bought an extra long torx allen set. Job only took 1.5h and saved me a few quid. Lock working nicely again now - nice one 😀 I'd just add for anyone else planning the job... 07:20 and 8:30-09:30 - I discovered that you don't need to undo the fiddly T25 all the way. It took quite a few turns but the handle cover came OK - just keep trying every couple of turns. I was dreading having to take the screw out completely and never being able to relocate it in the blind hole, but it wasn't necessary - phew! 20:34 - "you know what I'm on about". I totally didn't and it wasn't immediately obvious to me! I was trying to work out why the handle wouldn't go back flush. Eventually I figured it out, and now I know what you were on about. I agree it's tricky to explain though. Essentially the lock mechanism has a moving part which the handle actuates. The moving part is sprung loaded. In it's natural resting position, you can't put the handle back in for reassembly. You have to manually overcome the spring force, and this is why you need to put your hand inside the door, and feel around for it. At least you can see it from the outside of the door and see your fingertips getting closer and pushing. Not super easy - took me a couple of goes - but not impossible either once you've figured out how it needs to go.
Thanks so much for the great video. Thanks to you I have had a go and replaced my passenger side lock, now it’s working again. I have saved a few quid, learned new stuff and have gained a lot of confidence to try and keep my mondeo going myself. Thank you 👍
Thanks for the great video and link to buy the part. My husband successfully replaced the lock over the weekend, just need to work on the wing mirror and the electric window next ... everything seems to be failing on this model all at the same time.
Thanks Chazz for another great video. Just did it myself on the opposite side and the video support was a great help! That last T20 was indeed a bother while dismantling and putting it back. Like you said in the video, I'd recommend a long screwdriver if you can get hold of one for that bit. Cheers!
Nice job chazz just about to do the same but on o/s rear on mine pain in the arse to keep leaning over to unlock rear door cheers chazz great video mate 👍🏻
Hi chazz would this be the very part i need for my car same as yours, my door handle came off in a accident and wont reattach it opens from inside only. Thanks love your videos
Thanks for posting this video, one of my customers has mondeo 2011 ,which has keyless entry system. Do you have any idea about the part no. ? Thanks Car is UK model
Hey Chazz, great video! I'm having a slight problem with my front passenger door not fully unlocking, have to keep unlocking it from the inside. Works sometimes but nearly all the time its sticking but not fully, just enough for it not to open🙄 should I just spray some WD 40 in there or something? Thanks
I have made the mistake of buying a mk4 mondeo my central locking works but the passenger front door wont open from inside it will open from outside any thoughts would be appreciated as you are obviously more experienced than me
First make sure your child lock isn't on, that's located on the edge of the door once open. If not that, then sounds like the door cable has snapped or come loose. Opening the door from the inside uses a cable but from the outside it doesn't so would make sense. Just remove the door card and have a quick look.
Hiya chazz, just wondering is the new part an upgrade or for use in a different model with the harness plug being in a different place? I have the same problem on mine. Cheers for the video.👍👍

Your welcome. 😁
Thanks chazz. Info worked really well. Lock had failed, unable to open door from outside. MOT in 3 weeks, now fixed. Thanks

Must be a common fault, my rear passenger door is the same, but havent got round to doing it yet, great video, now i know what to do 👍
I think it must be mate, just got feed up of reaching over to undo the door from inside. This sorted it
My passenger rear is also not working. Found out when i was working on the front door lock because of rattling
@@trymhammerstrmgisiger1278 you sorted it out now?
@@ChazzCoombes Not my passenger rear, but have fixed the rattling noise from the door lock in the front
@@ChazzCoombes The rattle was extreme when playing music or driving on rougher roads
Great video Bro ive noticed the door cards are a bit like the mk3 to remove glad you sorted it out
Yeah very similer to remove to be honest. Cheers bro

Would this fail and chuck up a child lock malfunction, ford s max 2014 , I heard they use same mechanism?
