The way your hubby looks at you makes me so happy for you. But this is only my 3rd or 4th video of yours I've watched and I already adore you--- so no wonder he gives you that look. Fan girl right here.
Last year I peeled and cored 2 bushels of apples, and if the peels weren't damaged, I put them, with the cores, into my big electric roaster, put water under the roaster pan, and filled the roaster pan about 1/3 to 1/2 full with water. I turned it on low, and let it cook overnight. I drained the peels and cores, and took the liquid that was left, and turned it into apple jelly. It was delicious! I did the same thing with pears. Both the apples and pears i got off of trees we planted when we first built our house. Last year is the first year, in 25 years we've lived here, that we got such an abundance of pears! We never sprayed either of our apple or pear trees, so I trusted they were "clean" enough, to use the peels to make jelly.
That sounds delicious! I have a big bucket of pears sitting on my counter, maybe I will give that a try. Thank you for sharing how you processed them. -Cara
14:52 You are so clever to use apples in that way with that soup recipe. I will be adding it to my recipe book to give it a try this fall. Looks like the perfect comfort soup. I am impressed with all you did in one day. Busy lady.
I love peppermint tea. I get mine from the yard. Here in East Tennessee, wild peppermint is plentiful plus I have a patch I bought at a garden center years ago. In my shade garden I have some lemon balm my hubby loves. It will dry up fever blisters, shingles and any other form of herpes. I've had shingles twice and I was amazed how it reduced the pain and dried the blisters.
That's a very long day in the kitchen, I love how you are making from memory that's a lot of knowledge. The apple and butternut soup was a surprise. Your kitchen playlist is increasing which is good because I can keep coming back to this for reference.

You should save your peels to make Apple Cider Vinegar. Just put peels in a quart jar, add 1Thsp. sugar, add water to fill, and cover with a towel or piece of fabric and leave set on counter for 3-4 wks to ferment. Strain and seal.
Apple pancakes just sound so good!! Also, really impressed you are able to do many recipes at one time, the sign of a great baker.😀 The apple and butternut squash looked delicious.
Perfect timing of this video! We have 50 apple trees and we’ve been picking apples nonstop for the last three days trying to get everything picked before our first really hard frost. Excited to try some of these!

Thank you for including savory recipes and not just sweet! I enjoyed seeing the variation of with the apples! Those scones look so good! Do you prefer the drop biscuit technique you were talking about or one of the other ways? Is there a different in taste?
The drop biscuit technique gives the edges a little bit more a crispy exterior because there is more surface area exposed to the air. If you bake the dough in one big mound they are a little bit softer, but you do have to bake them a little bit longer. I hope that helps answer your question. -Cara
@@bluebirdhomestead Thank you for the througho explanation, that makes sense about baking them longer. Have you ever used a convection oven? What is the cook time for that. We just got one and I am not sure how it works.
@@justintime8314 Yes I have. We have a convection oven. It basically uses a fan inside the oven to circulate the heat evenly.
