Hannah, thank you for this perspective. In the last 3 years, my town has been destroyed by a tornado and I've had two brain tumors removed. The surgeries/tumors left me with seizures and mobility issues. I started POD/Etsy as something I COULD do--even working on designs in the hospital. Right now, as views are low during the calm before the storm that is Q4, and I'm listing and listing, I've felt the "hard". But as you spoke, I realized Etsy isn't hard. Those other things are. Life is hard. My business has been my alter ego and, many times, my escape from the hard. Keep moving forward!
You are so strong! You can do this, hopefully in life, you’ve already experienced the most difficult thing you’ll ever have to on this planet. I am wishing you the best and sending all my love.
I didn't realize how refreshing it would be to hear someone say that this is actually really hard. I've been at it for 9 months, spending 100s of hours, and I'm still not a "successful" shop. I'm going to keep working my butt off until it is successful, and it's going to keep being hard, and that's to be expected.
This is exactly why I have so much respect for you, Hannah. You not only don't BS people and put up video titles with all of the usual click bait, you effuse a wealth of knowledge and are so very intelligent about how you go about promoting and managing your business. THAT in my opinion is what makes you a credible teacher on the subject, and heads and tails above those with the opposite approach.
Wow thank you so much for this thoughtful comment, I was feeling down about my work the other day, still with imposter syndrome, thank you so much this made me want to cry
I didn’t mean to make you want to cry lol, but I’m glad you found it encouraging. One of the reasons your honesty and integrity resonate so strongly with me is that I’ve been around the block a few times, and that journey never fails to prove that there are few businesses where working harder and smarter isn’t a requirement for success. A picture you paint in living color. And as old as I am I still take something of value away from every video.
That's why I love your channel so much, Hannah, and all of what you do. Always saying things as they truly are, that's the best help we can get as a community. Sending love your way!
This is probably the first time I’ve ever commented on a UA-cam video but I just had to acknowledge that you genuinely seem like you’re trying to help people/entrepreneurs rather than being a money hungry shark like other Etsy “gurus” out there. Thank you and I’m so glad I found your channel, I feel inspired again
From your list above, my personal favs are free shipping and personalizing everything out the gate. I see the other things you listed on POD shop offerings so will be doing those as well. As usual, value bombs here. Much appreciated!
No one else talks about Etsy pushing toward a store that could easily be recognizable as a brand. I am just getting started, and I have millions of ideas swirling in my brain, but I keep coming back to one, and I think it will really be great, for a store. I am so glad that I found your channel. New sub. Plus, you talk in a natural way, I can not watch some of those videos, where they talk like a robot (and it is them speaking, not an AI) or use “upspeak,” it’s so annoying, so thank you. I think a lot of the other channels, also, give false hope to people.
You are right! she's one of the very few that say honestly it is hard.. she even said in one of her video that it's not all roses for her ...I respect and Trust her for that... as a newbie I stopped feeling like I was doing something wrong over 600 listings and nothing to write home about, can get you questioning:)
Its all apart of the journey and in the beginning the winning is just learning and learning how to fall, the falls only get easier! Thank you so much for the comment and tuning in :]
i finally was ready to go when the product i wanted to sell went out of stock. then i made mockups for that product while i was waiting for restock. then the print provider that i was planning to use and made the mockups for was discontinued by printify. now i'm having to psyche myself up start over when part of me just wants to quit. seems i'm getting nowhere with this due to events beyond my control. nevertheless i can't sit around and so nothing so i will pick myself up after a few days of sulking and try again. PS i'm a senior.
Hello customs sounds good but for $29.99 a month plus 29 or so cents per sale is kind of on the high side especially for newbies who are trying to make it in this business... I guess this is why those big shops keep getting bigger because that price to them is peanuts.. I guess that was his target market:(
mmm i mean you could still offer it without hello custom in the beginning like he said it will take 5 min but if your budget is tight just start off manually doing it
I’ve had my Etsy shop for more than 6 months with 100 products and I have not seller anything. Ughh! It’s starting to be my waste of time. I’m putting in more than 6 hours a day and some nights I’m not sleeping because after my 12 hour shift of my daily work I’m up researching and listing on Etsy. 😢
So printify is charging its' customers to learn how to use their platform that they ultimately profit (quite nicely) from their users? Shouldn't their course be free to encourage new users to try pod?

Hi Hannah, you are not alone. I’ve been trying for 2 years. I’m still not there. I’m still trying

Oh, that’s crazy. I never looked into it. Not sure if there are other programs out there, but that is ridiculous.

If you are new to design and building brands it could take a full year, there are many many variables that could be causing this
Have you added a digital product component to your most successful store?
I do not sell digital downloads or print on demand I sell physical goods thank you for watching
So printify is charging its' customers to learn how to use their platform that they ultimately profit (quite nicely) from their users? Shouldn't their course be free to encourage new users to try pod?
I mean selling info products these days is a real business now
