- Slow Pitch Jigging | How To Rig a Slow Pitch Jig | EPIC trip on the Yankee Capt
The guys head back to the Yankee Capt on a mission. They set off to test some new gear including the new slow pitch jigging rod from JohnnyJigs call the Pro Jigger. This was a private charter consisting of some great offshore anglers and was a ton of fun. Enjoy and Jig On!!

I swear the dude at the end with the pompano is the guy that I used to see at the shell gas station every morning. Small world haha
Sailfish on the jig...what an accomplishment. Congratulations, Johnny. That's EPIC. Only on the Yankee Capts...
Thanks Bill...It was definitely awesome for me🤙🤙🤙😁

Nothing cooler than a sail on the Jig. Congrats see Ya at the shop.

Great vid guys. They keep getting better everytime. Those are some great looking snappers and groupers. Congrats on the sailfish Johnny.
Thanks Nick...That sail made the trip for me😁😁🤙🎣
Very Interesting and innovative. myy compliments to your system. awesome stuff here. congrats!
Thanks John...
You guys absolutely killed it. I can’t wait to try this technique up here in the northeast. Great content. Smashed that sub button
Thanks Michael, Chris was just up there catching black fish on the jig.🤙🤙....Johnny
Those triple split rings are great value! Can't wait till next time I make it down to Pompano to the store.
We are here...Come on down
Hell yeah!
Thank Joe🤙
Caught a 27lbs Cuda on the Johnny Jig last weekend. Epic fight on a slow pitch set up! Wish you guys made more videos!
Awesome Jay, We have more videos in the work. 🤙🤙
GREAT!!
Thanks Pete.
What's up Johnny great video. I spoke to you this morning. I can't wait until next year. To fish with you guys. God speed.
Thanks Jersey...Got you on the list🤙🤙🤙
Nice
I have always been told that you do not tie to the split ring. Always to tie to the s0lid ring.
Amazing bro..from indonesia
🤙🤙
I caught the biggest red grouper of my life on the Yankee Capts last week using your 160 gram flatty. I had never slow pitch jigged before, but ended up doing it the entire trip. I wish more people would have been jigging!
Super cool. You just made my day telling me that.😁😁
LOL Johnny is reading Chris' lines.
great video sir slow pitcher here
Thank you..🤙🤙🤙
Your videos are amazing. And very Informative. I am all the way sold on Yankee capt trip definitely doing a 3 day trip. Going to Order gear. Form your wedsite. Any pointers on jiggs reels and rods. I fish and live in ny. So definitely out of my comfort zone.
Hey Damian, Thank you ...My go to set up is the Accurate Valiant 500n matched with The Pro Jigger by Johnnyjigs. I would recommend the power 3 for the Yankee. Jig wise I would select jigs 150-300g range. I prefer reds, golds, and pinks personally. Please feel free to reach out by phone on the number listed on Google.....Johnny
JohnnyJigsTV thank you. I’ll definitely order threw your website. Probably going to grab number one and 2 as well. So I can cover all weight and depth
You mention both the Temple Reef Elevate and Innovate in this video. Looks like you were using the Elevate. Is that correct?
Hi, what test lb are you using for ball bearing swivel and brand?
A ton of fun on this trip! But, hey... where’s the MISTY GROUPER!?
No Video 🤔🤔😫
Really Enjoy the videos. You guys are using the conventional rods. Due to nerve damage in my neck I have limited strength in my left arm and cannot hold onto to the pole which limits me to a spinning type set up. Is there any left hand retrieve conventional reels that you would recommend that would not break the bank.
That is a tricky one🤔 Without breaking the bank is what im not sure about. I do know the Shimano Ocea Jigger 2000 comes in left hand. After that im not sure. All of the economical reels that im aware of only come in right hand. The Ocea Jigger will set you back about $530.00 but you will get every bit of that price tag in the reel.
Thank you BTW..😁 Johnny
Hi ucol cris it cj
Hey CJ...This is Johnny. Chris says hi...Thanks for watching...🤙🤙👊
Another great trip guys! I can't wait for my next trip in Nov. John is it me or did u hit the beard with the just for men? Its Looking pretty dark bro. Lol all fun. I need some watermelon flattys before Nov too any in Stock yet?
😂😂🤣🤣You killing me Lenny. No just for men. It does look dark🤣🤣Flattys come in this week sometime.
@@JohnnyJigsTV I'm off this week so I'd like to drive down and check out the store let me know when they come in. I'll msg Chris on IG with my phone #
Will do
Help !! I got your triple rolled split rings and they're a disaster ! You even say after a while they fall apart and you have to watch that . Well..I went to put the rings on your jig , then the assist hooks and noticed the coiled ring was sperating from the tight coil it originally had. Hadn't put on my swivel leader line yet because I don't like the weakness in the split ring that already spread apart. I bought bunch of beautiful jigs and hooks from you but I'm now having to get better split rings . Please rethink selling those triple split rings.
Hey Jackie, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the split rings. We always welcome input
and are looking to improve. Please give us a call at the shop or send a email with some pictures. We have inspected our current stock of split rings for any gaps or defects to insure we do not have any more issues. Thank you for the input and please call the shop.
Do you always use 2 sets of assist hooks or only when jig is larger? Seems like 2 sets on a 60 gram jig might catch each other?
Hey Greg, On the smaller jigs I only use one set at the top. Also I prefer to tie my own hooks so I can get the lengths so they don't touch.
You guys make some great videos ... it is great during these Covid quarentine times - one suggestion - get some new back ground music please
Thank you and will do. I tried to change up the music every video
What knot do you prefer leader to swivel?
Definitely leader to swivel
try this rig four to eight ounce egg sinker on line then a bead then a trolling skirt up side down backward then tie hook then jig up and down
It works for sure.
@@JohnnyJigsTV red grouper loves it. Because you pull it up it flares out then drops down like a bullet lots of action
Ballyhoo skirts
Why not use a swivel? Wont the line get twisted up?
We do use a swivel and you are 100% correct the line will spin. We prefer a #3 or #4 ball bearing swivel.
What kind of braid for snapper like that?
Hey Corey.. 30# Daiwa J Braid
Thank you, not sure if you have done this yet? But maybe make I vid to suggest what kind of gear for beginners that are looking to get into slow pitch jigging like me. I want to get into it but don't want to break the bank. And I have so many questions but no one to answer them for me.
What this is song?
Hey Fachrul, We puchase instrumental songs from various websites. Also at times we use the free ones from UA-cam. I spend hours searching for cool music.
Nice video, but it would have been better if you placed a detailed or step-by-step process of the components in your description, so young anglers can understand all the component's weight/ strength capacity should be within the same range you target your fish. Depends on the size of the leader line you are using and split rings. They depend on the solid rings and lure size. Too large will cause resistance and movement. They depend on the strength capacity, assist cord used, size of the split ring, and the lure. It depends on strength capacity, cord type, length, and hooks. They depend on the size of the lure and strength capacity. In the end, they don't need to spend money on materials they don't need. Again, nice video.
Mutton metal...lol
😂😂We considered hitting a solo, but didn't wanna show off🤣🤣🤣
What’s up I’m Kev. ✌️😊
Hi Kev...👊
Joni Joni. Yes papa. Eating sugar. No papa. Just singing.
