1992 Spaceship Earth Walter Cronkite Version With Enhanced Audio Remix Epcot Music Retro Epcot Extinct Vintage Disney Dark Ride Disney Music Tomorrow's Child
I know right? I would look every year when i went, and i would always try to see him make it 3 times down the road, but he could only ever make it twice by the time your ride car went passed. I always hoped to get stuck there so i could watch it loop more than twice. lol
I've had that silly song stuck in my head for 25 years wondering if the memory was accurate or some distorted version of itself. Turns out it was accurate. Thanks for helping me clear that up.
Great memories. I have been going since it started, and enjoy each of the updates. Jeremy Irons and Judi Dench are both good, but this is the version that I remember with most affection, and I'm English! Cronkite just seemed to be right at a time when the technology was new and astounding. I was more upset about losing Horizons, that really was a classic.
Now THIS was Spaceship Earth the way it SHOULD BE now. This was educational, and classic. The new version???? The new version simply falls flat as it forgets about education and tries to dumb-down the program and simply entertain.
I have been to Epcot seven times in my life. Here is the breakdown with my age at the time and what version I saw: 8 and 9- Lawrence Dobkin 14, 15, and 16- Walter Cronkite 21- Jeremy Irons 31- Judi Dench I can see why This version is my absolute favorite! Three times at an age where I would have a full memory of it. Jeremy Irons softened the blow of change just a little because I already liked him but I was really disappointed with the Judy Dench version with the touchscreens at the end. Nothing can beat this music and the voice!
Vic Perrin narrated the original 1982-86 version, not Dobkin (who did the original 1971-1993 Hall Of Presidents at WDW). Martin Sklar's recollection is incorrect on that point.
For all of us who remember and love EPCOT Center (not Epcot Park) Disney has announced a major overhaul of the entire park. No details have been announced yet but it is supposed to be true to the original theme of the park. Here's hoping.
I only know the Judi Dench version (Dad wouldn’t let us go to Epcot until 2010; he probably thought it would bore us), but THIS VERSION MAKES ME CRY INSIDE.
I agree Michael and Tony...Good points on both posts. This was the best version for me also. But updates have to be made. On another note...Can't believe they replaced the bakery on Mail street with a Starbucks! I'm thinking what is next, McDonalds :(
So SAD I USED TO GO ON THIS WITH MY MOM. SHE WAS SO AMAZED HOW BEST OF EVERY THING WAS THERE IT WAS LIKE ME SAYEN MOM THANKS FOR ALL GREAT YEARS. HERES TREAT BEST FOR YOU I MISS HER AND RIDE BOTH ARE GONE. THIS VERSION
zfoxfire It IS gone. They removed it in 2007. But the good news is that people have uploaded tons of good old videos of Spaceship Earth where they still had the animated chariot.
I know that I am 10 years late to respond to this comment, but yes, they removed it in the Dame Judi Dench narration (the current version of the ride) I remember the first time that I saw it when I rode the 1994 to 2007 version of Spaceship Earth (the one where Jeremy Irons narrated the ride) and I loved it. From what I've heard, the projector is apparently broken and I highly doubt that Disney will repair it or replace it even though they have brought back some features from the pre-Siemens era of Spaceship Earth recently.
All I can hear when I hear Walter Cronkite's voice is "The Museum of Natural History!" from We're Back! That, and this, bring back all of the 90's nostalgia from my early childhood. Love it.
We lived in Orlando for many, many years and have been to the Disney parks over a hundred times, moving away in 2003. On a recent visit, we returned visit EPCOT and found that Disney Corp. had really white-trashed it up, with cheesy carnival type attractions. They aso ruined clasic rides, like this one, replacing iconic Walter Cronkite with some nasal whiny-sounding bitch. Never again....
Um....that "nasal whiny sounding bitch" is Dame Judi Dench. Classic British actress that has more accolades than you have brain cells. Learn some respect.
"Dame" Judi Densch is a mediocre actress, not even in the same ballpark as Walter Cronkite, the most respected newcaster of all time. I'm sure I have twice the IQ of you, "Gingerella." Don't stereotype me as a dumb musclehead. Now head to CVS for some Tampax and Midol, which you quite obviosly need.
How I miss the old Epcot Center from the 80’s!!! 😢
The best version. Nothing replaces this....turning below that "ball" of a sky of stars with that theme....nothing can match.
Kimmiesmidge There is no view of the earth from space. Otherwise, yes. Walter Cronkite was amazing.
I play "Tomorrow's Child" on my phone every time I get to that part of the ride.
This is one of my most vivid childhood memories. So glad that this exists. The song at the end makes me feel like im 5. Amazing.
so bummed that the Roman part is now missing the chariot in the background. :(
I know right? I would look every year when i went, and i would always try to see him make it 3 times down the road, but he could only ever make it twice by the time your ride car went passed. I always hoped to get stuck there so i could watch it loop more than twice. lol
I thought that was just young me creating a memory that didn't exist! I miss it too now
I still can’t help but look for it and wonder if I just imagined it
I appreciate, these memories, amen, I like you, Walter Cronkite great man, good work
I am so happy this exists!

me too! i was looking for the name of that Tomorrow's Child song since 1992! and now i know and can hear it one more time!
This is the version I remember....Guess I'm old...

I Agree totally !

Is anyone going to ever wake that Monk up? Lol
Aaron Reece Haha....He's been sleeping for 30+ years now...
He’s out cold
@@katiedame6489 Over Almost 40 now! Guy should be fired :)'
In 2018, I ride Spaceship Earth while listening to the Walter Cronkite narration on my headphones. It almost fits well still!
Citizen of Corona lol I should try that! Good idea.
That is so awesome!
Just came across this.Thank you.I forget how this has changed over the years.
The only version that matters.RIP Epcot.

I guess that plan failed.
This version takes me right back to being a kid.
That was awesome. Thanks for uploading this.
I only know the Judi Dench version (Dad wouldn’t let us go to Epcot until 2010; he probably thought it would bore us), but THIS VERSION MAKES ME CRY INSIDE.
I found this via Gary's recommendation on WDW Kingdomcast on FB.... Great video!

@ 3:30 I loved the animated chariot. I guess that's gone from the new version.

I wish I was on Spaceship Earth in 1992.
Oh wow, the nostalgia that hit me when I heard Tomorrow’s Child with those silhouettes running across the screens ❤
I am a spaceship Earth fan and awesome vid! Cool?
So prescient except who knew those huge predicted advances would lead us to Facebook.
Thanks Lee!

im torn between cronkite and irons...
Cronkite, for sure.
Awesome! No wonder it's amazing!
9:27 what are those supposed to be? Pink nebulas?
was there an earth in the planitarium scene.
ElectricUmbrella I remember there was. Anyone else want to back that up?

They replaced Walter Cronkite long before 2003, with Jeremy Irons

Tony Maxim But you ARE a dumb fucking musclehead. Down some more horse estrogen and weep silently while you pump your iron, bro.
"The future" ruined this ride.
