- starting at the concept stage from when the ride was mainly behind a domed building, track the development through design and construction to the dedication ceremony. Then take a 1982 multi angle ride, using re -edited Cronkite version video footage interspersed with the aforementioned clips I produced.

Imagine if disney parks had sent in a production crew to film all their rides from the beginning to catalog them so we could always have a high quality pov of every ride ever created.
@MartinsVidsDotNet,
Thank you for posting this video. I rode Spaceship Earth in its' original form when it looked like this back in the Spring ( Easter) of 1983. I wished that I would have thought to take video of it at the time, but back then, I was 4 and a half Years Old.
I miss this, so thank you for giving me a piece of my childhood back.

Awesome! Thanks for posting this. I was a 19-year-old teen on my first vacation with NO parents (LOL) when I first visited EPCOT just after it opened. I remember absolutely levitating over the park and the future it presented. SO exciting.
The ride along actually begins around 6:00 for those interested
Came here for the space scene at the top. Must have been so amazing and eerie
Back when the Disney Company actually had creativity and imagination.
Nothing was as cool as seeing those blue green lightning tubes / plasma tubes getting in to the ride vehicles and starting up that hill with the purple fog and smoke and lightning. I had no idea what was up inside that ball but it was such a great time to be EPCOT. Actually more exciting was rounding the corner on the monorail and seeing Spaceship Earth for the first time in purple and orange. Freaking awesome!
This is excellent! I'm also from the Jeremy-Irons-era, and you've given me my very first glimpse into the ride's earlier incarnations. Can't believe I've never taken the time to look this up myself. Well done, thank you so much!
This is the greatest video ever posted.
You told more and better history of the ride than the ride did of earth.
Vic Perrin’s narration was the best thing about that ride.
The ride has been changed 27 million times. Now when you descend backwards, you have an interactive screen in your ride cart that you play with.
And now that’s outdated as hell
God, I miss this version of the ride (as well as most of the original Future World, for that matter).
This a really cool attraction to ride on when you are in Epcot
Vic Perrin does the narration. He is the same guy who did the intro to "The Outer Limits" (...We will control the horizontal; we will control the vertical...)
They have come a long way with the music
Gotta love the 80's interpretive dance during the opening ceremonies.
John Pawlik THE FUTURE IS HERE
lol
🎵A new tomorrow🎵
🎵Celebrate celebrate imagination🎵
🎵We’ve just begun🎵
I was born in'86, so this was before my time. I only know this ride as it was from like 1991 and beyond haha!
I love EPCOT. I really love the old Jeremy Irons version of SE, but I don't hate the new one. It's just not as good. Disney is fantastic!
I barely remember going to Disney World in the 1980's.
Thanks for this, didn't get to see its original show. As mentioned before it was Larry Dobkin narrating, according to Marty Sklar.
The narrator’s voice is unmistakably that of Vic Perrin, not Dobkin. Marty Sklar’s memory on this was, with all due respect, incorrect.
I thought Leonard Nimoy narrated the earliest version of Spaceship Earth? I wasn’t able to ride it - the day in ‘84 when I visited, lightning had struck the geodesic sphere and had disabled the ride - but I always heard Spock had narrated it.
Mandela effect or just misinformation? Hmmm…
For some reason, my UA-cam stops it at the 10:23 (or so) mark (like the video is over), but I can click to restart it a bit after. This happen to anyone else? Or is it just my computer/UA-cam/Internet being stupid? But thanks for this! My mom, the first time we rode it (OCT 82) thought it was going to be a fast ride! Still laugh at the memory! :)
Would rather have seen the original video footage. Yes, it would be dark and crap, but it would be authentic.
If I could go back to point to live disney worlds history it would be epcots opening.
What's the music at the beginning of the video? Love it!
So even back then rides were constantly stopping. ;)
They should have kept this narration and put in the new music back in 84.
Irons was the 3rd version. Cronkite was the 2nd. The original one was with Larry Dobkin.
I preferred the Walter Cronkite version.
Actually it was Vic Perrin as the original narrator. Larry Dobkin sounds nothing like that.
@@johnhand7072 Same. Of course that was the version I grew up with so I would.
i like the tunnel music very surreal...
Anyone remember Iago & Zazu’s Attraction of the Week? It was a series of funny scripts on some website. I don’t think it was an actual licensed Disney thing.
They did an episode about Spaceship Earth, and Zazu said Walter Cronkite was the original narrator.
Seriously, banana beak, what do you have against Vic?
There are strobe lights in the beginning
@ 3:05 the monorail is going the wrong way.
What is the scene appearing at 14:37? I don't seem to remember that one.
Why'd they take the hair off the guy making paper in Egypt on the ride?
Who was the voice before Walter Cronkite?
Vic Perrin
What happened to the three glass pillars?
I'm pretty sure that at least one of them was sold on ebay.
Mr. Chopsticks they are coming back!
They were in storage I’m sure seeing as they are back up :)
This is fantastic! I wish Disney hadn't changed it; it's terrible now :(
copyright1982 it's not terrible now ...
That's what a ton of nostalgia blinded 30 year olds say. Something from their childhood would close and they would go on a spew on how the new one is horrible and shit like that.
Its alot like Albany
So..This what I saw.
This isnt the original actually
Narration was really preachy!!
You didn't thank Michelle in this one, lol.
I dont think this is from 1982. This is the second version with Irons not Cronkite.
