Gary is just knocking it out of the park with the uploads 🙌🙌
Been crazy busy so just trying to get them out when i can!
We have both a Polaris 850 XCR and a 650 VR1, for trail riding the 650 is awesome and better on gas and oil, for faster riding the 850 is defintely faster no doubt. We ordered a 2024 650 XCR for next season so it will be very interesting to see how they stack up. The overall package of the XCR is still my favourite sled that Polaris builds.
Thank you for the comment - i know you love the XCR!
gorgeous sled
It’s a great colour and decal pkg!
I can attest Mikena is a great rider. Good meeting her and the crew from Wisconsin. Good review Gary!
Thanks buddy!
Thanks Renegade X. Fun fact I ride with about women half of the season 🤷🏼♂️ These girls know how to ride… unfortunately the “maitnence” on their sleds still all falls on me 😂 There are days I feel like a dealer
can’t wait to line em all up next season. I ride with Mikena almost every weekend in Northern WI. She can definately ride, has zero issues keeping up 😂 I’m excited to line up the 850 and 650 polaris next season in a drag
Snowchecked a 24 wish they still had this black and red. Looks great!
its stunning on the snow
I'm a Doo rider but I must say if I were to buy new, this would be my sled of choice, especially with that 650.Have heard great things!
I ride my buddies poo 850 this year and I was a big fan, the brake feels better, more feel, hard to explain. Makes more cool noises too
You'd be disappointed with ride quality vs a xrs , the shocks need to be revalved or just changed to a better brand. Sadly the Walkers are garbage
Sorry Gary, the 600r etec is not walking away from that 650Patriot😅
didnt say it would - i think the 600r would get it off the line but the gap would slam shut fast
@MUDBRATS // SNOWBRATS it's a very underrated engine. I've heard many people say after they've ridden one, they have trouble believing it's a 600 class engine.
@@mudbrats Its more linear because of the clutching. The doo hits a little harder which makes it harder to go slow. However, its more of a feel thing than it is that is is actually going slower. Just doesn't have the initial jerk because the clutching is smoother.
@@gobigparts its linear but a short line. No way it would come near an 850etec - ill prove it next season
@@mudbrats Oh I was talking more like a 600 etec which it should have no problem with.
600’s are great in the trails, only time I notice the difference is on the lake but I maybe do 2-3 rides where we cross water..big fan of the woodrunner trails north of Mont Laurier , lots of twisty but wide 👍🏻
beauty area to ride! ❤️
ya McKenna was killing it 👍
🤘
Hey now the woman I ride with can RIDE. 😎 Wisco and his hot sled angels 🤣
Polaris has the switch gear down pat imo, especially with the smart warmers.
thats one thing i think the gen5 tried to mimick and missed, and the smart warmers on Polaris are totally genius!
love the retro name......
🤘
Nice video !
Thankyou!
How did you think the Polaris maytrx stacked up against the gen 5? I know you’re a ski doo guy but would you ever buy one if not what is it about the doo you prefer?
I do like the Ergos of the Polaris. But it’s Hard to compare the 2 as smart shocks are a different apple to the stiff race shocks on the XCR. The seat is better for me on the skidoo as well. I think the xcr is a great sled, and everyone has different wants and needs. That 650 RIPS! would I ever buy one? personally I think the etec is smoother performer (the sound, less smoke, etc) than a Polaris - that would be the big hurdle to get over for me. Interesting to see the dynamic suspension released for 2025, can’t wait to try that! I need to get more seat time on a Polaris to make an accurate call.
Right in. I agree with you. The ergos are what intrigues me so much. It just fits so well. But is that worth giving up the build quality and etec of the doo is the question. @@mudbrats
@@Sdm07120 I didn’t want to mention fit and finish as I didn’t want to came across as a doo snob 😂…. But ya the skidoo is much better fit and finish on the build quality and linQ is just such a good system. The etec is so much better on many levels. If you already love skidoo, I think it would be a tough jump over to the dark side. The seat and suspension on the screen is so hard. Unless it’s a perfectly groomed trail you would want better seat and softer shocks. Some of the whooped out garage we rode this year, I wouldn’t want to do at my age without smart shox. But maybe dynamic is better? It does do all 4 shocks, not 3 like skidoo. I wouldn’t make the jump without spending way more time on the seat of Polaris. You really need to try one and see what’s right for you. Brands are getting so competitive right now.
Yeah, well said. I played this game with atv’s. I had a can am loved it but sold it to down size and put a little money back in my pocket. I tried a Honda and then a Polaris and ended up coming back to can am for a lot of the same reasons you prefer the ski doo over the others ironically. That leads me to believe I’d likely be happier with the ski doo especially as time goes on. I’d likely go mxz xrs 137 black and yellow big gauge standard shocks 1.5 ice ripper. May add 96 studs up the middle too. Dealers knocking 1000 of msrp adding 2 more years of warranty so 5 total giving 200 gift card and a spare key. @@mudbrats
SnowTrax T.V raced the 600R and 650 4 times. The 650 won every time. Easy to find on UA-cam.
i seen it…. that didnt seem like a good comparison. Not comparable tracks and rolling starts. The 650 is way better mid to top no doubt, so im not surprise it won their challenge. I felt the 600r pulls way harder on the bottom. And a few other guys there agreed.
@@mudbratsGood assessment. I agree 👍🏻
Those 650s are nipping at the heels of the 850s
i wouldnt go that far, the 850etec would gap this 650 bad - but it would be on the back door of a stock 800etec i am sure….
@MUDBRATS // SNOWBRATS you should do a test sometime,I think you'd be surprised. That gap wouldn't be as big as most would think.
I ride with this girl and we will test next season and I’ll send Gary the video… if I’m not 5-7 sleds ahead I’ll be disappointed not saying the 650 is slow but with an extra 200 cc it’s hard to make up that difference
The 650 poo will keep up with the 850 poo until about 80-85mph and then the 850 will start walking away.
@@jmassart8503 exactly. No friggin way it could be close. The 650 has nothing off line line and there isn’t enough power there to claw back. Sorry 650 fans, I am not buying it. There’s no replacement for displacement. If a 650 is keeping up to your 850 up to 80mph, you better get into the shop right away and put the second spark plug in.
I’ve been asking for years why the ‘other’ brands are still using a key instead of a FOB. Even asked on your UA-cam podcast, can’t get a straight answer.
ya kinda odd when the automotive world is even going keyless
Was this a 128 or 136?
i am positive this is a 128 skid judging by the space behind the seat. Maybe a viewer can chime in
Nice sled but you can't beat the E Tec 600 r or R motion. I've had my Blizzard up to 97mph and still more there.
I think this Polaris is a lot faster on the top than the 600 etec.
@@mudbrats What was the top end speed? I was considering that sled over the ski doo back in 2020. Would of been the 600 XCR.
@@MBTUE we never ran it top speed - but its doesnt flatten out like the 600etec. I think the 600 polaris would be a dog compared to the etec but this 650 feels like and 800 once u get it rolling
sounds like a 4 barrel lol. brought back memories.
Braa-aaaaaaaap
Do you guys always ride in the middle of the trail for hours and then meet sleds at 40 plus mph.I have been riding 45 years and that is some poor trail manners right there
the aspect lens on the action cam makes the trail look narrower thsn it is. You can see as we pass by oncoming sleds we dont have to swerve over to avoid a headon. if we were actually driving in oncoming lanes you would definitely see the actions to swerve out of the way. I am as right as i can be on the trail. We alsouse comms
and you can hear the lead sled
call out to warn of oncoming sleds, number of sleds or any other hazards on the trail. i appreciate your concern and totally see how the video looks like a single lane trail
