This song was co-written by Garth and Kent Blazy. It was released in August 1989. BTW, this performance was LIVE and there was no smoke machine and no dancing girls and no flashing lights and he wasn't prancing around all over the stage. All we had was an incredibly talented singer and some equally talented background musicians. That's actually all we needed. We'll leave all that other stuff, plus autotune, for singers who cannot actually sing and have to do all sorts of things to distract us from that fact.
It depends on the venue and the song. He had flashing lights, pyrotechnics, smoke machines, running around the stage. I say had because I don't know if he still does, but he did back in 1997 when I saw him.
@@christhewritingjester3164 hah, I came here to say this as well. There's nothing like watching Garth and the band perform Thunder Rolls, live, with all the smoke and strobes...
Garth has a large catalog of great songs. Keep in mind that his concert performances are the Best! TV show performances are ok, but Garth is a high energy performer.
The love of which he sings is not just body to body, or heart to heart . . . but soul to soul. And THAT is true love. Beautiful. My favorite Garth Brooks song is "Rodeo!"
Thunder Rolls and Friends In Low Places should done live in concert as he adds a 3 verse that is not on studio version. He walked away from touring during his peak after his divorce to raise his 3 daughters. He is touring again. He had a residency in Las Vegas. You wouldn't call him a crooner if you saw him running, jumping across the stage, and flying over the audience. He won so many awards. He has been awarded Entertainer of the Year award so many times that he asked to have his name be removed to give someone else a chance.
Yes he's amazing.there's a reason He's the best selling country artist of all time. I was very fortunate to see him in concert on my 17th birthday.it was the best concert I've ever been to
I've been in love with Garth Brooks for 30 years. His The River and Against The Grain inspired me to change my life. I think you will very much enjoy discovering Garth Brooks.
The River, The Dance, several more. Unanswered prayers is special to me. When it came out I had found out I was pg at 16. My oldest child is my unanswered prayer.
His live performances put the studio recorded versions to shame. This man lights up on stage. He goes from a quiet and humble man to a force of nature. The Dance is another great of his and so is Friends in Low Places.
So many good songs by Garth.. In another's eye's Shameless To make you feel my love The Dance Rodeo The Red Stokes What's she's doing now Unanswered prayers So many more.. please try to do maybe a few a week, would love to see your reaction and thoughts!
When I was 4 years old in 1990, I sang some of this song with Garth Brooks in Walmart in small town Texarkana Arkansas. He was there for an autograph signing
Garth Brooks was at the top. Garth was named Entertainer Of The Year 7 times by the Country Music Association and was named Artist Of The Decade by the ACM (Academy of Country Music) in 1999.
He only made music for that decade which is the crazy part. Sold the same amount of records as Elvis, Michael Jackson, and the Beatles and those guys were around for several decades. He’s the 🐐.
Yes Garth Brooks, and Kent Blazy, wrote it that was a great song wish Garth, would have done more of that kind of music along with what he done. Thanks for the reaction
My very young daughter introduced me to Garth Brooks years ago. My Dad had always forced us to listen to bluegrass and old style C&W music, so I avoided it when I could. I was pleasantly surprised at how good he is and we listened to his albums a lot.
Garth Brooks was my first concert at 15 back in 1997. It still stands out as the best concert experience of my life. It was at an outdoor stadium and there was an actual thunderstorm rolling in when he played The Thunder Rolls. I still get chills when I hear that song as it takes me back to that moment. The rest of the concert was absolutely phenomenal as well. The whole band interaction was extremely entertaining and he put on one hell of a show. I don't know if he could still do some of the physical stunts at his current age, but man... Unanswered Prayers, Bella Wood, Friends in Low Places (with the extra verse), Thunder Rolls (obviously), The Dance and so many more. I listened to him growing up and his songs hit different when you've experienced some life.
Garth is a GOAT and Country Royalty. 👑 You should do more Garth reactions: The Dance and Thunder Rolls are phenomenal, but he doesn't make bad music... period.
My brother and I use to leave each other songs, where we knew they'd be found when we had to go back home. We lived 500 miles apart. Our last visit he was 39. He told me he knew he was going to die soon of another heart attack, his 5th. He wanted me to be ok. Of course I wasn't. He left me this song. I left him Wind beneath my wings. Because he was my hero. He went through a lot. But he never stopped laughing, smiling, singing or caring. I miss him everyday ❤️
This song for me is about my daughter, her Dad died when she was 3, it was just the 2 of us until she was grown, so I wanted to make sure that she knew how much I love her.
Garth Brooks, when I was growing up, was one of the country singers that those around me who disliked country did enjoy. He has a range of styles and influences. There is a semi-documentary music set that he did going into his musical influences and how they came together to make him the writer/artist that he is. It's well worth a watch at some point, but he definitely is worth a deep dive.
Garth is one of my most favorite artists to sing along with. Both because he's got a huge stable of songs with meaning but he also tends to stay in my range.
Garth Brooks is a variable artist in that he was influenced by many different kinds of music, but predominately country music. He did a stage show in Vegas where he described his life growing up and the musical influences he had, and he's sing everything from George Jones and Merle Haggard to Aretha Franklin to James Taylor to Bob Seger and so much more. He'd sing their songs, and then sing his own songs to compare and demonstrate the influences. It would be a shame for people to not know Garth's music, not just because it's great, but since he's got more Diamond albums than the freaking Beatles, everyone should know him as they know them. People should know George Strait too, since he is the reigning King of Country Music, and also an influence on Garth Brooks.
( Kicking And Screaming) is a cappella with some soul and some church. { We Shall Be Free} is another great song and story. Which was Garths greatest ability to write songs that make people think. Life, faith, and all that great stuff about all our lives. Oh {The River} was a karaoke winner for me every time lol😊. Thanks again for the great family content with that 70’s smooth radio voice. I dig it
Garth is a brilliant songwriter and performer with great depths to his work. It hard to categorize Garth. He breaks all the barriers, but he is primarily country. His signature song is FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES.
Garth brooks is the only artist to have nine diamond records in US sales and even outstrips Elvis Presley in American sales with approximately 156 million records sold 8:02
Also, I’ve been a subscriber for Mr. Lloyd reacts for well over a year and you say in the intro to the song you’ve never reacted to Garth brooks before but you have on the other channel 2:03
My absolute favorite singer / songwriter. He sang this as an encore when I saw him last. It was after my husband passed. Beautiful. Also, please make sure you respond to live performances. Many "covers" are out there. 💋💋
Honestly there isn't many of his songs that misses. His little experiment of his being Chris Gaines was really good in my opinion. The cover for Come Together from that album flew under the radar for a lot of people.
Perfect reaction to this amazing song. The incredible love and intensity he conveys is so deeply felt through his music. You felt it exactly the way it was meant. I really enjoy watching you enjoy these songs for the first time. Thanks for sharing with us!
Garth is a country icon, legend and royalty when it comes to country music! My favorite song of his "The Dance"! New sub and thanks for your great reaction! Love from Texas💜🤠🎶
Garth is literally one of the best selling artists, of any genre, of all time. Depending on the source it’s him, Michael Jackson, Elvis, and the Beatles. The others I named made music for decades to sell the same amount of records he did and he was really only making music for 10 years.
Garth always had great concerts. A wonderful storyteller/performer. Here's another one of his live performances "Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places(Live)" great reaction ❤
You almost have to use live performances by Garth Brooks. He doesn't share his studio recordings to UA-cam. The chances are good that a studio take on UA-cam is someone who mimics him. Concert performances are the way to go. He has a huge catalog, his shows sell out in minutes.
Yeah he just recently released his studio work on pandora but his live performances are just as good and some better so it’s not usually an issue. Not many artists are able to recreate the studio sound live but Garth always came through.
Garth was huge, then he retired to raise his kids. He and his first wife got divorced and he ended up marrying country singer Trisha Yearwood. When I saw him, he had Trisha sing some of her hit songs also. His live performances became legendary in the nineties. Still very good. Great songs, great voice, lots of personality. Seems like a humble guy.
Red Strokes, Learning To Live Again, Somewhere Other Than The Night, We Shall Be Free to name a few that rarely make the radio stations. Live versions is a must!!
Love your reaction to these music videos. I watch several youtube channels every day and yours my friend is so much better than others. Thanx for keeping an open mind and enjoying all genres!
There are so many great country artists. You are missing out on some great music. Another great song by Garth is "The Dance". He has so many, lots to choose from
Long-lasting singer and entertainer, who took years off to be there for his daughters then resumed his career. Sales? How about #2 all time! Top-selling artists worldwide as of August 2022, based on certified sales (in million units) is The Beatles @ 183M; Garth Brooks @ 157M; the Elvis Presley @ 139M and the Eagles @ 120M. Of course, Garth is still entertaining, with shows in Vegas and some tours so that 26M sales gap between him and the Beatles could close up some.
Garth is amazing. I have every one of his albums on CD, which is the issue since he refuses to put his music on streaming services and I primarily listen to music on Spotify so I have to go out of my way to listen to his stuff. That being said you need to check out as much as you can find and even some hard ones to find like Belleau Wood. The River, Papa loved mama, and The dance are my favorites lyrically. Also if you're looking for similar country songs from the era check out Brooks and Dunn (neon moon) or Tim McGraw (Don't take the girl)
Well for starters he is the number one selling solo artist of all time across ALL Genres of music, the only Group to sell more records, The Beatles. Garth has 9 diamond albums, that's # 1 all-time, the reason i mention this is because his greatness comes from the entirety of the albums he has released, the entire album(s) is always good not just one or 2 cuts from it.

Honestly, I was never interested in country music until I heard Garth Brooks’ “The Dance”. That song opened up a whole new genre of music for me.
He is an amazing performer with a lot of range...Thunder Rolls, the Dance, Unanswered Prayers, Friends in Low Places, for starters...
Is it weird that every song you listed was from the exact same album?

Baton Rouge, That Summer, Beaches Of Cheyenne
