As another fellow Okie (from Oklahoma) Garth does it all…you want a party.. Back When The Old Stuff was New Fever Ain’t Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up And many more… Garth can do it all…and has the most high energy show you’ll ever see. He actually took himself out of the running for Entertainer of the Year because he’d won it so many times in a row.
He’s a country artist who’s musical style runs the gamut…ballads, party, self impowerment…he does it all. My personal favorite is “The Red Strokes”, but I also love “Standing Outside the Fire” “Papa Loved Mama”, “Ain’t Going Down Till the Sun Comes Up” and Unanswered Prayers”. He ruled the country charts from the 90’s and the early 2000’s…a true powerhouse. :)
Dude ruled all of the charts. He's the highest selling solo artist of all time, out of any genre. He sold more records than Elvis, and is only behind the beatles in terms of overall records sold. He's just insane!.
@@justaguy328 in todays certified sales yes, but no one is even close to what Elvis has actually sold. They are still checking Elvis past record sales for more certifications and he still selling strong today. But Garth have done amazing with the few albums he has released and in short time, but not so great with latest albums... But can't compare them two, different times and different genre. Elvis was a megastar worldwide and did not even toured overseas. Garth, well, he is the biggest Country music star, but even in the states people doesn't know his music. I am a huge Garth Brooks fan, but Elvis was and still is bigger than Garth Brooks.
Garth, to me, is the artist that painted the scene for the 90's country performers, and then the others followed. He's got his part in all types of country music and the way they sounded the way they did. To me, he's one of the absolutely all time greatest influences, not to mention one heck of a great artist and funny guy.
Don’t spend any more of your time trying to pigeonhole Garth Brooks into a category! He does it all! From tender soulful songs, and tearjerking songs to songs that make you laugh so hard the tears roll down your face! He’s one of the biggest and brightest country singer stars that has ever graced this earth. His voice is simply amazing. I wish I could contribute, but I have hit rough times myself. If you want to hear a really beautiful Garth Brooks song, react to “unanswered prayers.” Thanks for what you do, I thoroughly enjoy you!
Garth Brooks is a lively Entertainer he can be rowdy or sentimental. He was named Artist of the Decade for the 1990’s by the American Music Awards. Try listening to these songs - Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) … The Dance … Unanswered Prayers … Rodeo … The River … Papa Loved Mama … We Shall Be Free … Learning to Live Again … Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Till the Sun Comes Up) … Callin’ Baton Rouge … To Make You Feel My Love. That’s just a handful of 1990’s without mentioning his hits of the past 20 years.
Love Garth- there’s a great 3rd verse he didn’t sing - it’s too bawdy for this venue. Check out some live concert performances he’s crazy good. I saw him in Vegas a few years back - it’s was an amazing show.
Ehhh, the' third verse' is fun, but it's essentially the same as he's already shown himself to the door and more just an alternate line. Hey I didn't mean to cause a big scene Just wait 'til I've finished this glass Then sweet little lady I'll head back to the bar And you can kiss my ass!
You want to have an entire bar singing in unison, play this song on the jukebox. Never fails! lol. Honestly Garth is in a league all his own. He's the highest selling solo artist of all time, out of all genres. He sold 12 million more records than even Elvis Presley. He's only second to the Beatles in overall records sold. A once in a century talent.
if you have ever seen the End Credits to FREQUENCY with Jim Caviezel & Dennis Quaid you can hear another great Balad from Garth Brooks called when you come back to me again really great song!
Garth once said that "The Dance" is the song he'd LIKE to be remembered for, but this is the song he knows he WILL be remembered for, and that's ok, too.
Okie, a slang term givin to people from Oklahoma during the great depression and dust bowl during the 20s, the okies were trying to get in cali for migrant picker work
Garth Brooks is an Absolute Legend!! Garth is whatever he wants to be at any given time. He can do it all!! He is his own category. He's The Biggest Entertainer in the History of the World!!
I understand what you're asking but Garth, like the majority of artists in any genre, makes happy, sad, fun, emotional, party songs etc. I cannot think of too many artists who don't do it all.
He’s opened up his new bar in Nashville called, “ Friends In Low Places”. He’s welcoming EVERYONE to his place- and honors Pride Month. ❤ Garth has sung every type of song. He is the top selling country artist of all time.
Garth can do it all!! I've loved him since I was 10 years old. Of course at that age things don't hit like they do when you grow up, lol, but I still loved the music. As I got older(43yrs old now) I now love the lyrics as much (sometimes more) than the music. *The Change *Cold As You *Party Gras (the Marti Gras song) *Against the Grain *Ain't Going Down til the Sun Comes Up *The Storm And soooooo many more
I like “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)”, “Unanswered Prayers”, and “Callin’ Baton Rouge”. You should listen to this one again with the 3rd verse you get at the live show.
So that's when he was early in his career. This is probably his biggest hit. Now, at a concert, when the first few notes are played, the crowd goes crazy. Look for Justin Timberlake doing this live with a surprise guest on UA-cam.
@MrLBoyd Music, You, sir, need to watch this song again for two reasons: it is WAY better when he sings it in concert to 50,000 fans who sing along, and only then does he sing the 3 verse. He is known for writing and then removing the less "radio friendly" parts of his songs. "Friends in Low Places" and "The Thunder Rolls" are two that fall into that category. Keep up the great work!
I'm not a country music person, but he is country. The beginning where the woman says "OK" short for Oklahoma, the state he's from. THANK YOU FOR TALENT MRLBOYD!!!
He does both very well. And puts on the best live concerts EVER!!! Just epic. If you do the thunder rolls. For sure do a live version. It has the extra verse the radio wouldn’t play
0:48 Okie = someone from Oklahoma ❤ Also, you HAVE to hear his live version with “that mysterious third verse that goes on the end of this song.” The best version, in my opinion, is the Garth Brooks live in New York for that third verse. TBH the best version is hearing him live ❤ He has always been quite the entertainer.
What kind of artist is GB? Yes. He is all this *gestured to everything you said* . “Friends in Low Places “ is probably his most famous song outside the country fandom: talking about a man coming to the wedding of his Ex, saying his hellos , not make a feared scene, and going straight to the venues bar, his “oasis” at such a high end party, as he is just a down to earth guy, who doesn’t want to live the high class life of Ivory Towers, to drink, after a few drinks he leaves , probably to go find a proper bar to drink blues away...it’s still his ex that’s moved on. When you’re blue, you've got friends in fellow low class bar patrons that just want to drink their troubles away . The Thunder Rolls is also super worth hearing: tackles an almost taboo subject at the time, and while more lesser known n niche , “Ireland”is powerful. You won’t be disappointed with anything he sings, but finding his songs , with him actually singing to react to is difficult, he is so popular and his brand(?) is so protected, that most of his songs get taken down from places like YT. Seems pretty counterproductive.
Garth Brooks is pretty much whatever he wants to be. He’s got a huge range. Another great song of his is called “Rodeo” which has basically become the unofficial anthem for the sport since the day it came out.
Fellow Okie means they are from Oklahoma! Garth was really young here, his voice has mellowed too! Yeah, I'm an Okie too with a momma from Queens! This is what we call a drinking song!
The 3rd verse makes the song so much better , Garth is know for jumping around the stage , jump on a rope/ ladder above the crowd, smashing guitars, having confetti cannons shoot confetti into the crowd mess with the drummer .
Yes! The dancing- you missed out! Friends in low places as opposed to high places- yep, a relaxed fun time everybody welcome. I will take that anyday over champaigne type places.
When you hear the Actual recording of this song the Drummer got a phone Call that his wife was giving birth to their child and you can hear him yelling PUSH MARIE! 😊
If you'd like to look into more from Garth I'd suggest one of these: The Fun Route: Longneck Bottle The Emotional Route: Unanswered Prayers The Inspirational Route: We Shall Be Free
Sometimes you got to go against the grain. I’m being shameless about it, but sometime, you’ve also got to check out “Against the Grain” and “Shameless.”
He has a secret verse that he only plays live. Check him out live at Notre Dame stadium! Ain’t Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up and Calling Baton Rouge!
An Okie is a native of Oklahoma, so by Reba saying Garth is "A fellow Okie" she means he's from Oklahoma same as her. She is from Chokie, outside of McAlister and he is from Yukon.
Third verse is basically the same as the second. But after I didn’t mean to cause a big scene, he sings, just wait til I finish this glass. Sweet little lady I’ll head back to the bar. And you can kiss my…
You didn't get to hear the third verse to the song, which really shows his sense of humor. A couple of my favorite songs ny Garth are Rodeo and The River.
This one won’t have the third verse! An Okie is someone who is from Oklahoma. I am a proud Okie! Garth has a way with the audience. His concerts are an adventure. He gets more enjoyment hearing the fans sing his music. I got to see Garth when he was still fairly small in Stoolwater Oklahoma. Then again after he exploded in 98 in Tulsa Oklahoma where he’s from. You need to find a live version of this one that does the third verse.
Havent checked Guiness lately but he is All Time history of world #1 or at worst top selling records. That dude can sing anything....and ive seen everyonr in concert from Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd Pink AcDC David Allan COE Hank Junior Toby Keith....THIS man puts on best concert ive ever seen only rival is my 20 Tool concerts
Garth Brooks is a All around good guy unless provoked , visit his song the Angry American , here he’s patriotic for 9/11 - he’s an honor student of all things Country related !! He’s Married to another country artist Ms Trisha Yearwood … ❤
As another fellow Okie (from Oklahoma) Garth does it all…you want a party..

Yes! Fellow okie, I grew up in a neighboring city.
Fellow Okie means their both from Oklahoma. My favorite just before Papa Loved Mama.
Green Country. Bartlesville.
He’s a country artist who’s musical style runs the gamut…ballads, party, self impowerment…he does it all. Okie means he is from Oklahoma. In fact, he played football at Oklahoma State. He was the placekicker.
I’ve never described someone’s voice as handsome, but MrLBoyd’s voice is handsome.
Garth Brooks is a lively Entertainer he can be rowdy or sentimental. He was named Artist of the Decade for the 1990’s by the American Music Awards. Hey I didn't mean to cause a big scene
Just wait 'til I've finished this glass

Do a live concert where he does the 3rd vs.. the audience participates and loves the fun,

Garth can make you laugh, cry, remember, and get up and dance and party.
I understand what you're asking but Garth, like the majority of artists in any genre, makes happy, sad, fun, emotional, party songs etc. I cannot think of too many artists who don't do it all.
Saw Garth many years ago. Best concert ever! You need to find the 3rd verse to this song. He can't be pigeoned holed. Everything he does is gold!
He’s opened up his new bar in Nashville called, “ Friends In Low Places”. He’s welcoming EVERYONE to his place- and honors Pride Month. ❤
Garth has sung every type of song. He is the top selling country artist of all time.

*Party Gras (the Marti Gras song)
*Against the Grain
*Ain't Going Down til the Sun Comes Up
*The Storm
And soooooo many more
Garth can sing all different styles of music. He has a vast discography. But, above all, he is a storyteller. All of his songs tell a story.
Without doubt, one of the best FU's in music history! Always loved it.
Good reaction.
I like “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)”, “Unanswered Prayers”, and “Callin’ Baton Rouge”. You should listen to this one again with the 3rd verse you get at the live show.
That dance at the end is line dancing. Very popular still
So that's when he was early in his career. This is probably his biggest hit. Now, at a concert, when the first few notes are played, the crowd goes crazy. Look for Justin Timberlake doing this live with a surprise guest on UA-cam.
So many great memories of sitting in the edge of a honky tonk stage belting out this song to anyone and everyone!
You gotta check out the live version of " Ain't going down till the sun comes up" its awesome! Garth flying across the stadium ✌️
@MrLBoyd Music, You, sir, need to watch this song again for two reasons: it is WAY better when he sings it in concert to 50,000 fans who sing along, and only then does he sing the 3 verse. Find the version with the 3rd verse, well worth the search “Thunder Rolls” “To Make You Feel My Love” are both great songs of his
Garth is Garth.....and I'm here for it! My entire room was covered with Garth posters back in the 90's. The man still has it!
I'm not a country music person, but he is country. The beginning where the woman says "OK" short for Oklahoma, the state he's from. THANK YOU FOR TALENT MRLBOYD!!!

Love u brother. Keep doing what you’re doing and we’ll keep tuning in! Luv from Oklahoma!!!
I'm from OKC and the bar Garth talks about The Oasis was an actual bar in Oklahoma City and I've been there
You should hear a stadium full of people sing this with him❤
By far 2 best songs he does are That summer and The Dance
This was his first hit and his first time at the CMAs. All uphill from this moment.
Garth Brooks was the biggest enigma. Was he country, pop or rock? All put together ranks him #2 in sales behind the Beatles in history.
There's a last verse that he sings in concert. This is a great song
Garth Brooks is pretty much whatever he wants to be. He’s got a huge range. Another great song of his is called “Rodeo” which has basically become the unofficial anthem for the sport since the day it came out.
Standing outside the fire and the river are both great songs
This was a monster hit when it hit the airways. I’m not into country but I can loop this song all day. And well, I been to many an “Oasis” type bar.
Extremely versatile!
There is not one place that he " belongs". Lol Amazing artist!
Standing Outside the Fire is one of the best.
If you want a ballad The Dance or The River are the songs to listen to
Lol SPEAKING of songs the crowd can sing along with loudly
Okie.. from Oklahoma.... 3 amazing ones without even thinking about it... Reba, Garth and Blake
Garth got to Nashville and worked hard to be the GOAT. The industry told him no one has ever done that and Garth said "Hold My Beer"
You have missed out if you haven't line danced in a country bar. This song was a favorite in country bars.
Fellow Okie means they are from Oklahoma! Garth was really young here, his voice has mellowed too! Yeah, I'm an Okie too with a momma from Queens! This is what we call a drinking song!

Many regard this as the best country song of all time

The Fun Route: Longneck Bottle
The Emotional Route: Unanswered Prayers
The Inspirational Route: We Shall Be Free
Sometimes you got to go against the grain. I’m being shameless about it, but sometime, you’ve also got to check out “Against the Grain” and “Shameless.”
Garth Brooks - Thunder Rolls from the Double Live album
Ain't going down til the sun comes up!!!
“Thunder Rolls”
He has a secret verse that he only plays live. Check him out live at Notre Dame stadium! Ain’t Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up and Calling Baton Rouge!
Both he and Reba are from Oklahoma hence the fellow Okie comment. You should check out "The Thunder Rolls". Another great GB song.
I love his song Rodeo.
An Okie is a native of Oklahoma, so by Reba saying Garth is "A fellow Okie" she means he's from Oklahoma same as her. She is from Chokie, outside of McAlister and he is from Yukon.
Garth Brooks is pure country
another fav from my youth, i also suggest boot scoot and boogie lol 1st song i ever learned to sing without the track behind me haha
In his biography he states that if you really want to know who Garth brooks is friends in low places is Garth brooks
You should react to him singing "Rodeo.". It s a classic, and one of my favorites!
Rodeo another upbeat song like this one. Is amazing!
A fun song 😊
Okie is slang for a person from Oklahoma. They are both from Oklahoma, making them "fellow Okie's."
You should do the extended version that has the third verse that he only does live in concert
Us Okies love our country music
Living legend
Should have been a theme song for the show "Cheers".
Talk about in your face! Showing up to your ex-wife's wedding! And the concert-only third verse caps it off perfectly.
Third verse is basically the same as the second. But after I didn’t mean to cause a big scene, he sings, just wait til I finish this glass. Sweet little lady I’ll head back to the bar. And you can kiss my…
Omg , it's an award show where the dancers are professional and the steps were choreographed. Singers don't always sing same style/genre.
According to Garth himself if you listen closely to a specific spot in the studio recording you can here someone crack open a beer.
If you're looking for another good Garth Brooks song, my favorite song of his is Burning Both Ends of The Night.
Everything by Garth is great, but one his best known songs is The Dance.
I highly suggest you finding the other version of this song with the extra verse!
You didn't get to hear the third verse to the song, which really shows his sense of humor. A couple of my favorite songs ny Garth are Rodeo and The River.
this really be viewed from the NYC central park concert.
The “oasis” is a bar in Oklahoma
Thank god for the south
This one won’t have the third verse! An Okie is someone who is from Oklahoma. I am a proud Okie! Garth has a way with the audience. His concerts are an adventure. He gets more enjoyment hearing the fans sing his music. I got to see Garth when he was still fairly small in Stoolwater Oklahoma. Then again after he exploded in 98 in Tulsa Oklahoma where he’s from. You need to find a live version of this one that does the third verse.
He's the kind of artist who sells 128 million albums--second only to the Beatles. You can't Pigeon hole an artist like him!
I recommend “The Thunder Rolls.”
Fellow Okie!! Oklahoman!!
Garth Brooks is a All around good guy unless provoked , visit his song the Angry American , here he’s patriotic for 9/11 - he’s an honor student of all things Country related !! He’s Married to another country artist Ms Trisha Yearwood … ❤
You should've listened to this song live in a concert!! MUCH BETTER
Fellow okie means that he is also from Oklahoma like Reba is.
I'm an Okie, just means we are from Oklahoma.
Beaches of Cheyenne- garth brooks
Bro. I’m from Canada and I even know what a fellow Okie means…. They’re from Oklahoma 🤦🏻♂️
If you are interested in up beat Garth take a listen to Ain't going down 'till the sun comes up. He has a wide range of music
Calling Baton Rouge Garth Brooks live at lsu
There is a lovely horror movie based parody of this one. Leatherface - Friends with No Faces.
from Oklahoma - is an Okie
