Without this channel, I'd have no idea about any of these cool little games. I'll pick this up this weekend.
It already is a hit in my opinion on Quest and I bought it for Quest. So I really hoped for a PSVR2 release and now it is here. Great! I prefer playing it on PSVR2 so I am very happy to hear it got a 10/10.

I'd suggest it anyway. It's a perfect game to just jump in and play for 15-30 minutes but you will end up making for 2 hours or more

Get past the art style guys, the game is crystal clear and soo immersive!! I never thought a cute pixelated slime would make me cower..

I agree the game is great. It deserves 9of10 and a 10of10 if it had a DLC i would buy it in a second that upgraded the dungeon environments to modern realistic Skyrim dungeon graphics levels. please AD-Dev team add a graphics DLC to the sony store we can BUY, I love your game and concept - just make it modern with a DLC so you can fund your next sequel or DLC. You could even sub contract out the job to artists incase you dont have artist skill or time and that way you can keep working on the technicals. Please do it your game is GREAT & deserves it.

Great review. You covered it all. This game was made with love and has been polished over the last 2 years. I can”t stop playing. Beat the Beast 5x so far. Love the crossbow and sense of adventure. The thing on your wrist is called Marcus and he rocks. Drink the Beast Bile people even though it says you shouldn’t.

Oh damn! Thanks for giving 3D dot game heroes some love! This game is so much underrated! A brilliant hommage to the very first Zelda game on NES and probably my favorite PS3 game with Demon's Souls (both developped by From Software). I'm not really into roguelites and didn't get hooked by Cosmodread, but this review piqued my curiosity for sure! Thanks! 👏
Played this game in pre release, and it’s 100% worth it if you grew up playing snes or any old systems 😂
Considering how much fun I've been having playing Ghost Signal, after Your recommendation, this will definitely have to be another I buy. ... Mind you, nearly every one of the dozen or so VR games I've bought, I did only after watching your reviews. Keep up the great work!

The game isn't released and has been around for years. It would be done except the dev decided to pander to the MP crowd and has added many years onto development time.

And I'm glad you gave it a 10 out of 10 because, although it might seem too hard for anything to stand up to Resident Evil 4, this game certainly does.
I hate when I see these games that everyone is in love with but I think I’ll play it for an hour and never pick it up again. Been that way with pretty much all the rogue lites I’ve bought so far. And the art style isn’t my thing either.
Completely agree. I'm tired of the hype and crap games. I only need 5-10 good games at any one time, really.

Agree with every word. Pretty much as close to the perfect VR rogue lite as it's possible to get.
Playing Teardown on PS plus last month opened my eyes to the potential of this art style. I knew this game would be a gem and I'm glad you concur 👌

I played Help Wanted 2 and got the Princess Quest ending which had the exact same style as this game, I absolutely loved the style of it and started to think if there are any actual psvr2 games with this style. I'm glad I found this game, definitely going to get it real soon

It became my favorite of my 26 VR2 games I bought.
And once you think you've seen all, the game keeps surprising you with new things, options, missions...
As long as FF or Death Stranding don't becomes VR, it might stay the game I liked the most...

Looks like the perfect example of NES Zelda in VR. And your description of the music is spot-on!
It sounds like crossplay with other headsets is coming too. Should really help with the mutliplayer base!

I loved playing this game on my quest and it’s even better on the PSVR2. I am so glad you’ve received as much enjoyment as I have gotten from it
Especially for that price it's hard to not try this one out.
This is almost like a vr adaptation of the Ian Livingstone / Steve Jackson Fighting Fantasy gamebooks of the 1980's. I'm unsure if they have been released in the States. I remember that Eidos released an adaptation of one of the books, Deathtrap Dungeon on the ps1

This game is amazing! One of my favorites.
I've been following this for a while now, and hearing how much fun your having with the haptics and modes, yep it's sold me, I'll be getting this ASAP, Resident Evil 7 was my favourite psvr1 game and moss 1 n 2 (with the mouse) and Ancient Dungeons VR is going to be my favourite psvr2 game, I just know it, Horizon Forbidden mountain just didn't do it for me at all, this game 110% will, hay I don't suppose you remember a psvr1 game called Thesis? Thaddeus? I don't know what its called but it was running away from a Minotaur creature in a labyrinthine maze but it had like this cool classic resident evil camera like angles with this semi behind the shoulders character, it wasn't 1st person but 3rd, and you could attack these weirdo spider like enemies, it was definitely an experimental game but I truly don't know any other VR game that experimented with this camera perspective but i would love to see more like it, I'm still crossing my fingers for an Astrobot 2 game, it was definitely Sony's Mario game but that game was sweet as, can you imagine if we got a Lawnmower man type VR game? That movie did not age well, but as a kid I loved the idea of feeling free inside VR, yeah the Nostolgia runs deep in my veins, thankyou heaps on your run down of this game, I can't wait to live inside the Ancient Dungeons world in VR, I didn't mint Resi 4 in VR but that sniper rifle made me feel really ill and hurt my eyes heaps bad, around $20-$30 is the perfect price for Ancient Dungeons as well, hope we see a sequel or more content in the future, I'd also would heaps love to see another Wipeout game on the Psvr2 too, gosh that'll be sweet, take care till the next vid

I played the first few hours of Colossal Cave. It's kind of a mess and (even worse) pretty boring. Not a fan so far but I'm not giving up on it! :D

You're dead right, this is SO fun. Glad you said there's reason to keep playing beyond finishing it cos I was a bit worried it might feel over too soon.
Is there a sort of "real ending" to strive towards like in ghost signal?
Hey, we still have lots of content updates planned. So while at the moment there is no real ending to the game except getting platinum (which take a lot of time I guarantee you), we will have a true ending in the future
@@AncientDungeon I am so happy that the game has a platinum trophy. Some developers just don't get how important that is for quite a lot of players. An important reason for me to replay it on PSVR2. And again: Gratulations for making such a great polished game.

Thank you to the Devs of this for making a near-perfect game and especially for utilizing the PS5 and PSVR2 to their full potential. This game is actually gorgeous in the headset! Gameplay over graphics yea I get it, but honestly this game has the graphics too. The skeleton animations are way lifelike and subtly terrifying because of it. The sense of presence and immersion is very real here. Fantastic game and Spot-on Review Bryan!!

Two weapons and MANY upgrades and power Orbs.
Further more the progression system pushes you to beat over and over the game to get more and more rewards and weapons upgrade.
The KnifeThrowingSystem is ONE OF THE MOST SATISFYING ever played in a game!!!

The only thing that really bugs me is how the skeletons move. If they had animated them to shuffle instead of jog, it would have been better.
This is a great game, I have it on Quest 3.
Is there smooth turning? Looks kinda like click turning in the video.
My smooth turning speed is up really high so sometimes when I flick the analog stick it looks like click turning
I also validate that the turning is quite smooth.
Love this game. A multiplayer mode would be awesome!

Man you just never know what is actually going to grab you these days do you? With a title like "Ancient Dungeon" you might think you are getting into "Horror Adventure" territory, but nah we are actually getting into Steal-Your-Attention-From-RE4 territory. That is absolutely fucking insane. Your review is pretty convincing too. It just looks like a really fun game and I think if you have nostalgia for the original Zelda, that will give it that extra bit of oomph for some people. I'll definitely pick this up when I get a PSVR2.

i agree with you. this game could be one of the best games on VR like Skyrim if the Dev added a graphics patch DLC we could buy. I would buy a DLC in a second. The game is really that good. If you like dungeon crawlers like classic Wizardry then Ancient Dungeon is a must buy.

Lol 😂 idk that it’s give you the same thrills RE4 would give you but it will definitely make your butthole pucker up during fights when you are deep in the dungeon trying not to die and start over 😂 especially when dealing with multiple quick enemies

As someone who never played VR, I have a question to the VR veterans: don't graphics like this ruin the immersion? I thought what's great about VR is the feeling of really being in there, do you still get that feeling with pixely looking games like this?
Yes you do, it is like being inside the game. In this case a 16 bit game but it really feels like you are there. If something comes at your head in VR you will dodge out of reflex. Pixelated or not you will dodge because it really feels something is coming at your face.
As someone who has played a lot of VR the answer to your first question is simple: No. Immersion is about so much more than just an artstyle. It's about sound, haptics, and graphical fidelity as well. As long as a few of these things are firing on all cylinders then you'll feel totally immersed. VR games are (and should be) just as diverse as flatscreen games - and I think Ancient Dungeon proves that! :D

It's probably my favorite game to play on PSVR2. But other 10/10s are Village, RE4, GT7, etc

difficulty curve is too steep. it needs an easy mode.
Souls like approach. After a few deaths you’ll get better or adjust your play style to be more careful till u can handle more. Worth it tho I promise u.
