  • Having good air conditioning has become an expectation for most drivers. As technicians, we have to be well aquatinted with functionality and service of these systems. In this video, we discuss using a recovery machine to evacuate the refrigerant from the system, check the mass of what was removed, put the system into a vacuum and review some leak checking methods. We also review charging the system with the proper level of refrigerant. This video does not go into to great detail on operation the leak detector or other detection methods but rather focuses on an overview of the process.

This is the best tutorial I have found on this machine. Thanks

To all of you watching this, one important place to also check when looking for leaks in the system is the evaporator core. This is where UV dye is basically worthless unless you have a gross leak in it. The best method I have found is by using a high quality electronic sniffer such as the one in the video. Simply place the wand into the passenger side air duct and with the fan on low. Simple but works.

Great video! Thank you for taking the time to explain how to use this machine. Do you know the size of the calibration weight(I can't find mine) and if you can use the recycled Freon to recharge? Thank you in advance.

Adam how do you use the oil injection?

If you check for vacuum, when system is charged - it is positive pressure, so you can get a leak under positive pressure - not negative. How to test it for positive pressure leak?

How do you inject the dye in the system

I would like to know how to inject oil with the machine and how to equalize the hoses
    You didn’t show those steps
You said you didn’t add oil because nothing came out
Can you make a video explaining how to add oil and equalize the hoses

How to u get the machine out of high pressure lock out mode ?

Good question, I would have to consult the manual. Most machines have an air purge function to help reduce high pressure in the storage tank. This is often a slow process.

curious do you ever use a micron gauge on vacum test and do you check super heat and sub cooling

    • @AdamsAnalysis
      @AdamsAnalysis  8 місяців тому

Most automotive AC equipment only reads to in/Hg on the vacuum side of things. It is also interesting that most automotive technicians do not run calculations for super heat or sub cooling.

Hi does the machine put new refrigerant in or recycle what came out? thank you

It recovers it through a drier and then goes into a recovery tank. A vacuum is pulled on the system to remover moisture(air). Then the refrigerant is pulled back into the system.

I would have to review the manual. I'll consider it for a video about machine maintenance.

It's weird to see one of these that isn't covered in oil and uv dye and generally beat to shit

You should have told us to check the oil container before you showed us how to recover.
