So I spent about 2 hours very early on out HD hunting and found 2 incredible things: 1 there is a new alternate for steel pipe, made of iron ingots! You can make motors, with the steel rotor recipe and iron wire, out of only iron. 2 if you find 50 plastic in the world, you can unlock HSC’s and subsequently get the geothermal generators! I have skipped coal power entirely. Blue crater has 3 PURE geysers. Perfect for a Grass Feilds start.
@@elilewis8212 They added more geothermal vents in the map and reduced the cost, it's possible to unlock and reliably craft them at phase 2 since you can loot drop pods for circuit boards. You should really use the Wet Concrete recipe, once you unlock Refineries at lvl 5. Ratio for Limestone to concrete is 3 to 2, while the regular concrete recipe is 3 to 1, meaning the Wet concrete is twice more efficient input/output-wise at the cost of more power.

There is a cave in one of the sand biomes (I can't remember which one) where there are four quartz nodes and one SAM node. I've been a fan of and using wet concrete, Pure iron ingot, and encased beams since i first started (around 3? Just after they added pumps). Yeah anything that increases output with water is worth it imho.. Just set up at the lake with 4 coals in northern forest doing pure iron, solid steel, wet concrete, and encased beams last night. Was thinking of changing to molded and left space in my layout. Also did a dilluted fuel/plastic plant at the north shores oil fields.

The funniest thing in the VERY first hard drive you scanned. It shows up in the footage for a moment. You actually had the Steel Rotor recipe pop up XD
If you hover over the nodes scanned on the map it shows the purity level. Temp however is either a capstone to the node or it is a just small thing that has the resource near the main nodes.
FYI, there is a normal SAM node in the pit under the arch. Got bugs and poison gas to deal with, but afterwards you can easily lift the SAM up out of the pit to use for your alien tech goodies. Since the best additional (the Dimensional Depot) can be used as so as you unlock Steel, thought someone would want to know.
I was watching kibitiz video in the background while playing satisfactory and ironically enough the first early hard-drive you can get is the one recipe he was looking for the whole time
Yeah, I didn't bother with the Molded Steel recipes until I had refineries and the Wet Concrete recipe. Just grabbed the Iron Pipes recipe since I had tons of iron and the Solid Steel recipe because it's just plain better.
I found one of those mythical jetpack hogs and was zippin around on solid biofuel since before I built the space elevator. cant wait for my old hoverpack
@@XAORESS I think what they're tryna say (and I agree) is that it's likely not a cosmetic at all. I'm pretty certain that was just a regular xeno zapper, ie the thing you spawn into the world with and only ever really need one of, but can nonetheless craft extras of in the equipment workshop
i started watching the video and decided "i should scan some" bc ive been hoarding them. the first one had the steel rotor recipe and i about died from laughter xD
I know it requires the bane of all Satisfactory player's existence, but the wet concrete recipe is actually amazing, as it makes the 3:1 ratio, a 3:2 ratio, doubling efficiency. It does require unlocking the refinery, but it doesn't require any fuel, and you can unlock the recipe before then because you've unlocked concrete, one of the parts of the recipe. This then allows you to save so much coal and iron in the 'molded' recipes, therefore turning a previously useless material into one that could be vital in the early to mid game in that it makes everything soo much easier!
Kibs! Don't forget to hold on to the blueprints you're not wanting in the mam. It takes them out of the pool so you get better odds of getting the ones you want. I fell into the same habit 😂
I found out that if you exit the drop pod when you open it you can skip the animation for the drop pod opening, makes for getting in and out quickly very easy.
I got lucky on my very 1st and 2nd HD. First I got Cast Screws then I got Bolted Iron Plates. I can make Screws out the wazoo(450/m from 1 Pure Iron node with only a Mk1 Miner). Those two together cut out the need for Iron Rod.
I’m on phase 3, and haven’t used a single overclocker yet because I was you can use the Somersloops to double your output when crafting them. But you can’t unlock that till Phase 2 has been finished.
I love the alt recipes but once you done a play through it's really tedious trying to get the recipe you want. I'd be cool if they gave points that you can cash in for some recipes or something akin to that.
If you keep a set of recipes in your hard drive library then they won’t appear in subsequent drives, so you could use that to thin out the pool over time
The fact you rolled the steel screws would have saved you a bunch of pain early. Been using it in my new 1.0 save and didnt run into any issues, its actually still running though I could have replaced it ages ago I've actually expanded on it since getting trains cause my local steel production is just working great to keep my rotors going.
I'd imagine if you could get iron wire and iron pipes you could just feed in a bunch of iron and not overcomplicate things! I been going a bit back and forth with lots of handcrafting so a lot of places I'm lagging behind, but I'm considering exploring for more crashed ships so I can get exactly those recipes or better ones like cast screws!
The Kibitz factory is chugging along to make a Satisfactory video every 1.5 days, wonder if there's an alternate recipe to make the ratios more efficient? 😏
You missed a XenoZapper by the helmet, they're good Awesome fodder (I missed it too, I'll have to go back for it myself, there's also a pair of blade runners in that cave).
I just rushed coal, set up basic factories I plan on ripping out anyway, then spent three hours hard drive hunting. Only ones I’m missing are encased pipe and the alternate heavy modular frame. Would’ve sworn HMF were unlocked in parts assembly 2.
I am curious as to what the new max theoretical power production is. Maybe you'll try to do it? Ficsite Fuel Rods will definitely make it a better outcome already.
I can't even imagine doing hard drives without save scumming. Making a save after research is done allows you to rescan, reload the save, and keep doing that until you find a recipe you want.

Just set up at the lake with 4 coals in northern forest doing pure iron, solid steel, wet concrete, and encased beams last night. Was thinking of changing to molded and left space in my layout. Also did a dilluted fuel/plastic plant at the north shores oil fields.
Kibs, it took me 18 hard drives before I got solid steel ingots. I almost cried. They added so many new alts that unlock in the early tiers.
get the satisfactory vids going!! I love playing my new game along side you.
funny thing, i was sitting here eating breakfast watching this while my last 100 versatile frames were being made, right when you finished yours mine wa comeplete!
I only have like 20 hours playing Satisfactory. Love your factories in the video! They look nice and compact. I have a hard time steering the truck so I don't use it. I'm not very good at using A and D to steer. I wish it was easier like in Astroneer!
For the same reason, I don't like Horses in V Rising. 🙁
The funniest thing in the VERY first hard drive you scanned. It shows up in the footage for a moment. You actually had the Steel Rotor recipe pop up XD
Driving past Mercer Spheres while looking for HDDs is a crime! :O
4:56 Thanks Kibz, helps a lot.
If you hover over the nodes scanned on the map it shows the purity level. Temp however is either a capstone to the node or it is a just small thing that has the resource near the main nodes.
Perfect timing! HD hunting is next on my to-do list!
I do love how the wet concrete matches the molded beam recipe.
11:58 if you open the map after having pinged for a resource and hover you cursor over it, it tells you the purity of the node
Stay sane and enjoy ourself Kibz ❤ I'm here no matter how long things take 😁
Just finished watching the video, great video as always!
I quite like screws. Nice to see them speeding about :)
I was watching kibitiz video in the background while playing satisfactory and ironically enough the first early hard-drive you can get is the one recipe he was looking for the whole time
Rerolling past encased pipe, madness!!
Definitely going to look for those molded steel recipes!
First minute, you're the best Kibz!! 🔥🔥🔥
I just got the wire and steel pipe recipe, glad it's as good as I assumed
Kibz, you can check purity at the map directly, dont need to scoot down there if you dont want to
Yeah, I didn't bother with the Molded Steel recipes until I had refineries and the Wet Concrete recipe. Just grabbed the Iron Pipes recipe since I had tons of iron and the Solid Steel recipe because it's just plain better.
I found one of those mythical jetpack hogs and was zippin around on solid biofuel since before I built the space elevator. cant wait for my old hoverpack
3:39 KIBITZ! YOU MISSED THE COSMETIC FOR THE TOOL !
Go back and look, it just says "pick up Xeno Zapper"
@@tytytys19 HE DIDN'T
@@XAORESS I think what they're tryna say (and I agree) is that it's likely not a cosmetic at all. I'm pretty certain that was just a regular xeno zapper, ie the thing you spawn into the world with and only ever really need one of, but can nonetheless craft extras of in the equipment workshop
@@something-from-elsewhere it's not a foolish theory that just like the helmets, there are other xeno zappers scattered across the map
@@XAORESS When did I say foolish? I said it was "unlikely". And helmets aren't ordinary items, xeno zappers are. That's a pretty big difference
space elevator animation is a really really nice addition
i started watching the video and decided "i should scan some" bc ive been hoarding them. the first one had the steel rotor recipe and i about died from laughter xD
I got steel rotor on my first as well! Them got solid steel on my second
My favorite part about hard drive hunts is when you find stuff like turbo motors and can sink them for a ton of AWESOME points.
I really like the new Hard Drive system, where I can basically store all of the choices of recipes until I am sure I want to get.
You can also use that to keep unwanted recipes out of the pool! Just leave them unclaimed in the library
Oh, you're in for a treat. The alien tech is gamechanging!
Kibs! Don't forget to hold on to the blueprints you're not wanting in the mam. It takes them out of the pool so you get better odds of getting the ones you want. I fell into the same habit 😂
8:14 - I swore he would sing U2 - I'm still haven't found what i'm looking foooor 🎶🎶
If you crouch and go near the flies spawn thingy (12:10) . It won't detect you.
I started anew as well, but clearly I do not have the same time nor the speed that Kibitz has!
There is a Sam oar node under the big arch. Get that thing producing!
Fun little added titbit. When you do a "ding"scan", you can hover over the node that shows up on the map, it shows the purity.
I’m on phase 3, and haven’t used a single overclocker yet because I was you can use the Somersloops to double your output when crafting them. But you can’t unlock that till Phase 2 has been finished.
You can hover over the icon on your map after scanning and it will tell you what purity the node is
I love the alt recipes but once you done a play through it's really tedious trying to get the recipe you want. I'd be cool if they gave points that you can cash in for some recipes or something akin to that.
If you keep a set of recipes in your hard drive library then they won’t appear in subsequent drives, so you could use that to thin out the pool over time
me favorite series on youtube! just wanted to let u know.
The fact you rolled the steel screws would have saved you a bunch of pain early. Been using it in my new 1.0 save and didnt run into any issues, its actually still running though I could have replaced it ages ago I've actually expanded on it since getting trains cause my local steel production is just working great to keep my rotors going.
you've done more in 2 episode than what i can do in 50 hours into a world (i'm noob)
While scanning for nodes you can see the purity on the map if you hover over it. No need to walk to them to check for it yourself.
Kibs is back in SF! BEAMS!🎉
The rescan is random each time, so you can hoard a bunch and save scum the recipes you need. Yes, I also went insane, but for solid steel ingots.
..... the quick search is also a calculator? well, i guess you really do learn something new every day
The Kibitz factory is chugging along to make a Satisfactory video every 1.5 days, wonder if there's an alternate recipe to make the ratios more efficient?
Ficsite Fuel Rods will definitely make it a better outcome already.
in the cave where you found the helmet you will find the drop pod above the cave. if you look up you see a hole thats where all the stuff fell trough.
I can't even imagine doing hard drives without save scumming. Making a save after research is done allows you to rescan, reload the save, and keep doing that until you find a recipe you want.
