Two very helpful beginner tips to add: Those flies are annoying? You can crouch and sneak up to the hatcher and even hit it without it releasing the flies as long as you keep crouching. Zipline is not fast enough? It can boost using the sprint key. Also it can take you uphill even if cable is not powered, so just put a power pole on the ground, one on a steep cliff and you have an easy way to scale cliffs early on.
You don't even need to crouch up to the nest. The wasps will only hatch IF within its range AND the Crouch key is NOT pressed, so you can slide-jump to launch yourself towards a Hatcher, press the Crouch key again in midair and keep it held down... and they won't hatch, even if you faceplant the Hatcher. It makes clearing them much quicker.
Tip regarding the pump placement and head lift: if you place a second pump further up a pipe, hold CTRL and the pump will snap at the perfect spot where the previous pump's head lift ends but there's still water. Repeat as needed.
@@DrawingXaos Yuuup the indicator and thus the snap seems to be off by 2 metres for the mk1 pump and 5 for the mk2 by our guesstimate, we did send a report on this. So it snaps ABOVE the recommended max lift point.

All vehicles but the factory cart requires fuel and they all have inventory slots (the cart has 1). Inside the living quarters of the hub you can look at the closet to customize your character. You can play a game on the computer, and you can flush a single item down the toilet. Don't worry about the cameras in there ;) Headlift works in reverse too, if you have a water source above all your machines, the head from that point will be what the entire pipe network uses to calculate with. Think "City Water Tower", water works the same way in the real world. You can now use somersloops in the machines to double output at the cost of exponential power requirements. It's useful to use this for converting slugs to power thingies, leaves and wood to biomass(2x), then to solid biomass(4x) for your early power needs, some production lines will benefit from this like for your project assembly parts. Also use it for converting your creature parts to alien protein(2x) to alien dna capsule(4x) then putting them in the grinder for 4 times the points. I was never a toggle sprint person, but after exploring for 10 hours, I decided to switch anyways, never going back for this game other games I'll still have my hold to sprint tho
I like the middle ground setting in some games. Toggle sprint, but it turns off when you stop moving forward. It saves the wrist, and your stamina. Grounded has this setting and it's nice. I keep this one toggled because the only time I want to go slow is when building or climbing.
Right click on the customizer options - thank you! I knew there had to be a way to do that. 26:58 make sure your pen has a foundation for a floor (not dirt/grass) so the doggo doesn’t despawn when you wander too far away.
Mycelia: also found in the southern forest or the blue crater (coral pipes or stony twig-like looking things, maybe even more in other biomes), so it's not _only_ funghi found in caves. I wish I knew that earlier (in my first session on Update 7 I never unlocked all the Mycelia stuff in the MAM, because I couldn't find any. For my 1.0 session I looked in the wiki where to find it, because the game doesn't _really_ tell you…)
Another thing to add about the colors, is that you can save specific colors if you hit the "edit" button on the swatches. As someone who uses color theory to help make factories look good, this is a major time saver when constantly changing the colors of the custom swatch, which I wish they gave us more of.
I think they changed the loottable for the doggos. I have around 20 for over 100 hours now and they never brought nuclear waste as a present. Can be a very rare drop now, but even when, its not as frequent as in early access.
8:50 - Manifolds can start up just as quickly if you're just not lazy. Carry some material to fill all the machines' input hoppers and the tap belts will fill up quickly enough.
@@DrawingXaos If you don't have it available, then the load balancer version isn't going to be able to keep the machines running 100% anyway, so who cares?
I found that water didnt behave as you suggested with slopes. I dont know if I was just tired but I spent a while setting up coal and had 4 water pipes running up a slope to look fancy. All started with pumps at the usual intervals but for some reason water would not flow. I deleted one pipe and ran it vertically up instead, same number of pumps (spread as the hologram markers suggest) and it worked as expected. It seemed like the game has a hard time calculating slope height properly, possibly its because my slope was made in many parts ? (i..e the slope was very long). (this was all built in the corner of the dune desert near the water in the top right if you wanted to test it).
if you snapped it to the blue thing on a slope, it is possible that it was just shy of where it needed to be. where as vertically it might have been perfect. fluids are not perfect and always end up being a pain even if you know what your doing.
With the doggos you are lucky most the time. Sometimes even getting stuff you wont see till like tier 7 or 8. "One" of the ones i found @ the Great Lake is somewhat "Special" As in he Keeps bringing me Stuff that is detrimental to my existence, such as Plutonium waste, Gas and Nuke Nobleliscs
I've found with manifolds that if i just run the highest tier belt I have all the way to the end machine but everything before that gets a tier of belt fitting for the input requirements, the belt stays full the whole time because I've given it no other option. 4 machines in a row? The belt running thru the splitter is the highest tier thru 3 splitters and to the last machine, machines 1-3 get just what they need. Because brute force is always an option.
yeah but if you are producing something like 15 stators per min and you got 3 assemblers and you manifold it, dont matter how fast your belt is, will still take forever.
I wish there was a way to select the hotbar with a key, like in other games that have multiple hotbars they use ctrl + num,. but that won't work in SF, so, idk, just use alt or something that I don't have to scroll through the menus I can just press "Alt+1, 1 and I know I am going to build the 1st thing in the first hotbar, then I map "Alt+3, 3 to be pipes and all of the 3 hotbar will be things that I have needed while building pipes. This is the most efficient way to select a building.
Good tips, Except your sushi belt splitter will not work properly, "off" belt may NOT be slower than the main belt, if the main belt is 120 and 5 identical items are right after each other, and the "off" belt is 60, only 3 of the 5 will exit correctly, the 2 will not get off cos the off belt can only do 60 and its coming in at 120. You advise the main belt to be faster than the off belts. Keep main and off belts the same speed, then it will always work perfectly.
