One of the deepest, heart-moving, truthful ballads ever written. Many have been there and that’s exactly why this song was a smash hit. This song confirms what an old Texas Country singing buddy of mine said…”Music is the language of the soul”.
One time I was transporting a guy to prison and I was listening to a CD with this song on it. After the song finished the guy asked me to play it again and I did. It really touched him.
I come from a dark trauma filled family. I had to leave my home and most of my family...parents included. I bought a one way ticket to Florida and left with one suitcase. That was in 2014. I am married with a son now. Never looked back. Grieving the living is so much harder than grieving the dead. In order to forgive my parents and myself I had to let go. I pray for everyones healing. Breaking generational curses are hard and they are not for the weak. If you haven been chosen for that role....OWN IT!
I know your pain. I got married at 19yrs thought I was in love and needed to get out of my parents house and quickly!! They were taking over my life and my babies care too. They were telling me how to do this and that and how bad a mom was going to be if I didn't listen to them. So getting married sounded great plus I thought I loved the guy. We lasted 10yrs.
Great song,it really speaks to the trials and tribulations of life and one's struggle to be a better person and live the best life you can.It has special meaning to me,as a recovering addict with 10 years of sobriety behind me this song reminds me that I can't change my past but I can live every day to the fullest and look forward to the future!
This song was written by my buddy I went to school with. It is so meaningful to me as I lived this story. I would not be hear today if I didn't decide to move on. Love that my favorite youtubers did this video.
I know their first three albums by heart lol. They came about when I was a young kid. My dad is a great country singer so Ive heard it all! Such a great song!
I still remember the first time I heard praying for day and have been a fan of these guys ever since. This might be there best song but the made a ton of great songs. I hate they broke up. Hopefully they will get back together someday. loved this reaction
Shawn & Mel, thank you so much for reacting to this very special song. There's a phrase that I've learned over the last five years or so that says, "Don't let your past dictate your future." I've learned that as we grow older, we become wiser. We learn from our mistakes, but we also learn from bad things that have been done to us personally. I've learned to never regret those things that have happened to me. I've done my best to learn from those mistakes that I've made and what others have done to me. I wasn't sure if y'all had heard of Rascal Flatts or not, but they are a wonderful country group. Hopefully will get to expose y'all to more of their songs. Love you both! LadyGator1983🐊🐊🐊 Shawn & Mel - Y'all will love this song. I look forward to seeing y'all's reaction! Carrie Underwood & Vince Gill (Live) How Great Thou Art ua-cam.com/video/IJ12Fd0AlAw/v-deo.html
I am friends with David Vincent Williams who wrote the song. It’s a true story however with a very happy ending. One of the best guys I know! Thank you so much for your reaction on this song. I will definitely show him your reaction. Thank you guys!
I am a big country music fan. This song has been my theme song since the day it came out. It's deep but beautiful. "I'm moving on." God bless you all.🕊💜
This song was extremely important to me during a rough few years in my late 20’s years ago. I’ve loved Rascal Flatts since then. So many powerful beautiful songs they have!! My Wish, Stand, etc.. 💕👍🏼
Every time I am having hard times in my life, I pull up this song and sing as loud as I can. It is so powerful and moving. Thank you for reacting to this one. ❤️ You guys are awesome and look forward to more reactions
Hi Shawn and Mel so glad to have you back, hope all is well. What an amazing song, thank you for sharing. The line of the song that really impressed me was when he said he had to move on from people he loved because they would not let him change. We have a good friend going through the same situation right now. He wants to change some of his habits that have held him in a depressed state of mind for some time,. He has made friends along the way that were on his same negative path. They were drawn together because of the same problems. They don't want to lose him and are trying to hold him down. He is getting better and wants to test his wings but they make him feel that he is still too weak to fly. You are right Mel, this is a very relatable song and a lesson we all must learn in one way or another. I hope you have a wonderful day, :)
One of my favorites! Lost my sister 17 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think of her, but one song above all others fills me with a flood of memories "I Believe" by Diamond Rio another country group. If you want to FEEL a powerful song that's the one.
I LOVED this reaction! 🥺 Mel's beautiful words of encouragement and Shawn's strength in his word of motivation was icing on the cake to a song I've heard a thousand times. I love this song and appreciate you giving it even more power. Thank you both! ❤️
Such a great song that I think we can all identify with. We’ve all found ourselves in a place, either by our on doing or someone else’s, that we knew we had to walk away from in order to grow. I used to listen to this song on repeat, it always stirs the feels when I hear it. Thanks for reacting to it.
If you don't have a partner and family/friends who supports you then the best thing is to move on because if you aren't going to fight for you no one else will.
Great to see you two again! Great song... it hits home too deep. Sometimes, I want to pick up and leave. This town I live in is so full of ghosts. Everywhere I turn, I run into someone who drops my ex-wife's name...or I see one of the people she cheated on me with....or, I see a youth football field, baseball diamond, wrestling tournament...and it just tears me apart inside... remembering my better, happier life with a wife I adored and coaching my kids. Admittingly, I was lost without her, struggled to find myself. Sometimes, I don't know if I have yet and its been 14 years. I want to leave but, my kids...my grandkids... they are here. But I completely understand this song... get away from the ghosts, get away from everyone reminding you of yesterday. Go O's.
This is basically the song of my life ... first time I heard it was when I saw them in concert while living in Fort Lauderdale where they were the opening act for Jo Dee Messina. This was the last song in their set and from the first note, I looked over to my friends with tears in my eyes and said, "this group is going to explode and be huge!" My friends laughed at me wondering how I could be so emotional over a song I was hearing for the first time. With lyrics "I've loved like I should, but lived like I shouldn't; I had to lose everything to find out. Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road." That has been my 51 plus years I've lived on this Earth. From losing my appendix at the age of 7 & needing emergency surgery, having my spleen rupture on January 8th, 2000, needing emergency surgery & according to my medical records, being pronounced dead for nearly 20 minutes but coming back to life. To sadly discovering drugs for the first time in my early 30s & winding up becoming HIV+ on March 22nd, 2003. Losing the one woman who truly loved me - my mother - exactly 2 weeks before my 40th birthday on June 12th, 2011. Having my gall bladder rupture on August 1st, 2016 & needing emergency surgery to being diagnosed with cancer on April 30th, 2019 (and finding out just a couple of hours later that my father, with whom I had been estranged from the last 15 years of his life, had died on July 30th, 2018 and no one informed me of his passing) ... to reaffirming my faith (I was raised Roman Catholic & decided I needed that back in my life) and re-connecting with my younger half brother (he's about 18 years younger than me), going through what is called extreme therapy (where you go back through all the major emotional moments of your life, but not as you, but as everyone else that was involved and you basically see it through their eyes to understand why they said and/or did what they said and/or did & seeing everything in more than just what I thought I had seen and heard, allowing me to admit to my mistakes and atone for them), to finally after 36 years & 27 auditions having my life long dream of appearing on "Wheel Of Fortune" (Disney Secret Santa where Vanna White hosted because we taped the very next day after Pat Sajak was rushed to the hospital - Friday, November 8th, 2019 & winning $61,311 in cash & a cruise) to solving my final puzzle, "An Epic Journey" and realizing it was a sign from up above that even though 2020 was a horrible year for all of us, it was the best year of my life as first, I was properly diagnosed as being autistic & I discovered how amazing my father truly was and finally getting the answer I had been looking for nearly 49 years of my life - I never thought my father loved me - I discovered not only did he love me but back in 2003, he made a huge sacrifice so that I would live. Being told 2 years ago, when my cancer entered stage 4 that I only had a 2% chance of seeing my 50th birthday (I turned 50 on June 26th, 2021 & I am still here by the grace of God). "Finally content with a pass I regret ... I find you find strength in moments of weakness." Every time I hear this song, I cry because I have not always said and/or done the right thing, but in the past few years, I've finally embraced the path that I believe He has wanted me to take.
i hope everyone facing pain can find hope! i was raised by grandparents who made sure i was told every day i was not wanted in their home, after being left behind by my mom at age 2 and then my father at age 15. grew up living in friends homes. i moved on from that heart ache and have never looked back.
PEOPLE WHO REMIND YOU OF YOUR PAST WHEN YOUR TRYING TO GROW AND DO BETTER….SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO START FRESH SOMEWHERE WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO KNOW YOU NOW WHO AND WHERE YOU ARE…
This speaks to me in regards to faith. Hell wants to keep your mind trapped and locked down behind walls so you feel alone, no hope, no success, no friends, no love, and for sure no life. Then the other part of the song reminds me of the Lord above saying, child its time to pick up where you are and we are moving on from this place you are in. Cast down that fear that brings all these things to your mind and I will set you free. 🙌🙌
My mom was an alcoholic. She left town finally (after losing custody of me) and finally got sober. I spent 7 years with her from 18-24, when she died of cancer. Anyway....this song is literally her and her journey. It hurts. I miss her.
Great reaction to a great song & a great group! Check them on: •Changed (if y’all haven’t heard- you MUST! Live is good😇) •Bless the Broken Road (my son walked me down the aisle to this when we renewed our vows) •Stand (so so encouraging/uplifting!) Stay safe & love much💖
After I left my alcoholic husband I thought he'd get sober and come for me, but that never happened. He drank himself to death and I'm so angry that I'm still here and he's not. It's not fair. He was much more beautiful than me and I don't want to be here without him.

Broken road , what hurts the most by rascal flatts
This song came at a painfully pivotal moment in my life...I was able to draw comfort from this...😎
Me too, J H... me too. !!! 👍
I still have trouble listening to this song without crying
It came at a time where I actually moved away from home. JH, it became my comfort as well. Well said.

I actually moved to Florida in 2018 and realized... Tennessee was my home. Should have never have left.
I’m sitting here with tears rolling down my face. Feel like he was singing about me.

Some of the most insightful lyrics even put down on paper, each heartfelt words resonates with the listener.
