Carrie, I just want to personally thank you. Almost three years ago, I was in the absolute worst place in my life. My puppy who was just a year and half passed away, my ex fiancé of four year left me by packing up my stuff into a storage unit while I was visiting my family in a different state and most of all I became manic for the first time ever later learning that I had bipolar one and ptsd. I commented on one of your videos in a very dark place mentally and you graciously sent me an email reaching out to me with complete and utter kindness. Since then I look forward to your videos and look up to you like a big sister. You have no idea the impact you make upon a strangers life. Simply adore you and appreciate you! I will never forget the sunshine you brought in my darkest moment.❤️

Seeing the feathered dress, it makes me think of how a lot of times I get so excited that something looks good on me and fits correctly (because that doesn't happen a lot...) that I want to buy it despite the practicality of it. I have gotten better about that but definitely a struggle!
Carrie! I would LOVE to see you get color analysis and style analysis done on camera. I did mine about 6 months ago with House of Colour and it has literally changed my life. Hi Carrie ! The Hollywood flawless filter is actually not a true foundation but closer to an highlighter. And if your skin is on the oily side you should make sure to apply some matifying cream and base before :)
Ditto! Not a foundation. I actually use it on cheekbones, center of forehead and down the nose before applying foundation and I feel like it gives a lip from within glow.
Wow this is the first time I heard this! I hated the Hollywood flawless filter and this is probably why. I felt the same as Carrie that it was separating and made me feel so yuck about my skin when I typically like my skin! I wish I didn’t throw it out so i could’ve tried it just on the areas I want to look highlighted
A few words of advice from an oldie: - don't ever store leather in plastic! It will sweat. Especially patent leather the patent will break down in heat and become sticky. You must store them in cloth bags and let them breathe or else you will get mould. - nearly all shoes need breaking in. Wear them around home for 1/2 an hour, then in a few days an hour, then increase the amount of time. THEN wear them outside for half a day, and when you do that, bring a spare pair of shoes to wear if it gets unbearable. Over time the shoes will adapt and stretch to the shape of your feet without killing your feet and you blaming the shoes. This applies to all shoes. The expectation that shoes must be comfortable to wear an entire day with no damage to your feet is unrealistic, because the shoes are generic, they aren't custom made for your feet and they must stretch and adapt to your feet. - if you are getting blisters on your toes it means there is too much movement in what's called the toe box, the end of the shoe. Wear thick socks or add an innersole. You can add a half inner sole at the front and that should fix it. - re the pale blue dress, I would cut off the gathering flare over the shoulder and it is way too fussy for you. But probably not. - the black and white blouse you are not going to wear this at all. It's too old for you and not stylish. the lace is shiny that is what kills it for me. - there's a phenomenon in skin care that involves the primer/foundation blobbing in reaction to moisturiser. I forget the name of it but it's a chemical reaction, Talk to someone at your pharmacist/drug store about the problem and finding compatible moisturiser for the primers and foundation.
Hi Carrie! With the primers you want to match silicone or water bases. The easiest way is to check the ingredients. The most common form of silicone you'll see is dimethicone, but you might also see cyclomethicone, cetearyl methicone, cyclohexasiloxane, and cyclopentasiloxane. If it ends in -ethicone or -siloxane, you can assume it's silicone based. It should be high up on the ingredients list. Most of those pore smoothing primers are silicone based because silicone is what gives that really smooth silky finish on the skin. I personally don't find primers do anything for me either, but if you match the bases you should avoid the primer actively making the foundation worse - in case you want to experiment with different primer/foundation combos to see if you can make any of those products work for you! I'm not an expert, but I worked in cosmetics retail for about 5 years so I know a good amount about ingredients!
GIRL TAKE THOSE BOOTS TO A SHOE COBBLER!!! I’m telling you!!! I have two pairs of vintage boots i just had a shoe cobbler stretch and it’s been perfect. I have LARGE calves. one pair took a few time to stretch enough, like I went back to try on a few times, but are just nice fitting babies now. ❤❤ I live in SLC, not the most affordable city, and it was like 60$ to stretch the two pairs! Worth it!!
Sketchers are the best. I love my sketchers slip ons and my pink fils. They are the coziest shoes for my small feet. Also the gel insoles in sketchers are the best
This sounds crazy but do consider trying out maternity bras. For years I wore only the 2-3 bras that I could tolerate, then I got some maternity bras from Walmart and they're actually in my daily rotation. It gives me the vibe that, idk, its actually designed for women's comfort and functioning instead of like, the male gaze or something lol.
My advice: sports bras. Not the hard shell ones for running or kick boxing or other high impact activities, but the soft, flexible ones. They're usually called yoga or pilates bras or something similar. They have really cute ones, and they are BREATHABLE. No sweat accumulating anymore in my cups on a hot summer day. Okay, I'm going to need you to box up that brown lacy collar shirt you got at the estate sale and send it to the youtuber Kathleen Illustrated. She'd love that in her life. She needs that in her life. She'll go full on ham with it. Maybe you two could do some collab where she just happens to end up with that by the end.
YES!!!! The toe crease in the New Balances hurt like crazy! I ended up with a little bruise in that exact spot on my big toe lol. I had literally only heardd only positive things about them, I thought it was just me!
I think it’d be super funny if when you did these you edited in the footage from when you bought the items and reacted to what you said when you originally bought them! Like you don’t have to wonder what you were thinking- you have it on tape 😂
Makeup girlie here: regarding primer, I honestly don’t use it and have never noticed it making a difference. I just use sunscreen/moisturizer as my primer and it works just fine! Plus being 30 something I really don’t feel like layers of product do me any favors these days 😆 💙
I also have ADHD and impulse shop so a new rule I set for myself was no online spending. The only exceptions are groceries and medicine. Otherwise, if I really want something, I have to physically go out and get it and that makes me weigh up if it’s worth it. It’s working so far!
Flawless filter is better used under foundation to make it more glowy! I even used it as a highlighter. Sadly it broke me out a lot but I liked it much better used like that!
I love these videos! The one in particular where you talk about Doc Marten's destroying your feet was so eye-opening for me, I got a pair of platform boots and I love the way they look but having to basically wrap my feet in bandaids whenever I wanna wear them (which is like twice a year for obvious reasons lmfao) is so not worth it! You really inspired me to finally make up my mind and sell them
Girl, we all do this 😂😂. Or at least I do too! The Sherpa coat is adorable - would be a good one for travel IF you wear it and you could use it as a blanket on the plane! Marlena (makeup geek) has a great video on how to tell what primer/foundation type you have. CT flawless filter isn’t really a foundation but an enhancer - you can use it under or as a highlighter.
The Hollywood flawless filter isn’t a foundation. It’s a highlight or glowy product that should be used on specific areas of the face, and not all over. (Unless mixed in with your foundation to make it more glowy) but I love using it on a no makeup day just to the top of my cheeks, or adding a bit in to my foundation is super pretty too. It’s really lovely if you use it or targeted areas! i can see why you hated it though thinking it was a foundation and using it as one!! That wouldn’t be good haha
I’ve been on the foundation journey, I get it!! Yes, you need to match the different bases and you have to check the ingredient list for it. It’s the first ingredient listed though that makes it easy. If your skin is dry, water based. First ingredient will be water. If your skin is oily, silicone-based. First ingredient will most likely end in the root “-cone” (dimethicon, trimethicone, etc.) Your primer, foundation, and concealer should all match bases… I’ve found personally my setting options need to match too. Where my skin is dry, if all my ingredients are water and I use a powder to set it cracks. I have to use water based setting spray
No judgement here and can totally relate to “what the hell was I thinking” purchases! It’s hard to part with clothing too, so love the idea of storing when on the fence with certain pieces! ❤
Girl! If you want to wear heels and be comfortable, then you have to try Pashion Convertible Heels! They turn into flats when your feet hurt. I have so many and LOVE them.
The green shoe fooled you. They looked like they should be comfortable but that's the worst when you spend a butt load of money for something that ungodly uncomfortable. I have a couple pairs of heels that I can't wear but I can't bear to declutter them.
i know i would love that selkie dress! i remember when you first tried it on and i went to buy it IMMEDIATELY bc i had been thirsting over Selkie dresses for forever, and i was so devastated when it was sold out on eloquii :(
The black top you showed with the oversized collar reminds of something Kathleen from Kathleen Illustrated would style in one of her videos. I love when you do these videos by the way. I have so many purchase regrets, and it's nice to see I'm not alone ❤
"Where am I wearing this?" is a great question to ask yourself. And saying that there may be an event in the next year or so does not count. I have so many semi-dressy office clothes- I work as a nurse, I wear scrubs everyday 🤷♀!?
Yes. Considering your actual lifestyle is so important. I have quite a few cute summer dresses but they are not really practical for what I'm doing most of the time (housework, dog walking, lounging around,..), so I tend to wear shorts and a T-shirt most often.
You could wear the coat on the plane! lol pro tip wear ur heaviest jeans, boots and jacket is wanting to bring on day of travel is not super uncomfortable. Lol
6:10 Carrie, your New Balance sneakers probably won’t give where you need them to. I have high arches, and run into this problem all the time. That black seam is holding the shoe tightly, right where you and Drew need it to give. Shoes that have extra straps or layers sewn across the top of the arch can be too rigid for certain foot shapes. It’s much better to pass them along, shoes that hurt like that can cause long term damage over time.
I have a pair of Frye ankle boots with no zipper and I love them. I do. BUT if I wear the wrong kind of socks or pants with them, I practically herniate a disc in my back getting them off. Absolutely zero wiggle room. I've been known to wail in misery at work at lunch when I'm trying to put on my sneakers to go for a walk and attract concern. LOL.
I feel like it’s never a bad idea to have a little black dress for who knows what occasion. You could wear it to a wedding, an event, a concert. You look beautiful in it ❤
I have the new balance 550s in white. I thought the same thing! I had bruises on the top of my feet. 😬I eventually just wore them enough and now they are really comfy.😊
My best friend has that same pair of New Balances. Lately she’s been thirsting after the Adidas that everyone has. I have a theory that once you wear the “it” shoe of the year you can become addicted to getting the new “it” shoe every year. For that reason I prefer the shoes that are less popular so I can hopefully wear them for years without feeling they’re outdated
I thinlk the olive green jacket is beautiful and looks great on you! I think you should keep it. The camo is trendy and thse jackets are very difficult to find. I looked for sothing similar and I could not find it.
maybe get rid of things that don’t work and hold on to staples/your absolute fav pieces? (ex: like things that aren’t currently in style but will come back, or things you just haven’t worn for a while but can’t part from)
I’m def in comfort over style mood. I have a lot of skims pieces and love them. I live in skims joggers lol. I find them super comfy and cute at the same time. I wear my Uggs with them and feel a little stylish and totally comfortable. Kim nailed the comfort in her clothes.
The charlotte tilbury flawless filter isn’t a foundation!! They call it a “complexion booster”. I have the elf dupe and it’s really just like a glow product. I put it sparingly under my foundation
The uniqlo jacket is so pretty on you! But yeah, LA/AZ girlie what are you doing buying jackets like that 😂😂😂❤❤❤ since the tags are still on why don’t you try returning or at least trying to get a credit note!
I love these kind of videos because sometimes you are just bombarded with influencers telling you "this is my favorite" or "I use this every day." It is refreshing to see inluencers who also have purchasing regrets.
17:22 what if expensive products are like “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. They’re crap products but no one wants to admit it so the recommend it for the commission, and everyone gets suckered into buying expensive products that don’t work.
someone taught me to dot the flawless filter at high points / spots you want to cover up and blend with skin tint over primer! it turns out SO gorgeous ✨
My worst purchase is still my Dyson air wrap - I just don’t use heat on my hair like idk why I thought I would start. I now use the blow dry attachment to dry my dogs off when it’s freezing rain outside but that’s literally it.
This was literally me until about 2-3 months ago…then I just started playing around with it more and now I love it!! It’s definitely not for everyone though and it’s SO expensive! 🙃
I just - I think in my late twenties I thought I cared and then the day I turned 30 I just stopped. At least it was the 20% off during the Sephora sale
I bought the Revlon One-step Volumizer Dryer. I have thin hair and just could not get it to work. I gave it to my daughter but she doesn't use heat on her hair so I told her to give it to someone that could use it. The only saving grace was that it didn't cost as much as the Dyson.
@@jkschnik6952 these were smart, adult decisions that i didn't make. my mother wouldn't stop raving about how amazing it was after her hotel had them as the hair dryers in the rooms - i was influenced by my mom.
I feel you on the heels. Honestly now that I'm in my mid-thirties, I discovered that I need to buy shoes that are comfortable and my style. Over several years I've built a collection of cute but comfy shows (usually Origins, Earth Origins, Dr. Scholls, Sofft, and Skechers)
I use the Hollywood Flawless Filter either under foundation or just on the areas where I want to glow. I definitely can't and wouldn't use it solely as foundation because I need coverage, lol. Try it where you would put highlight and see if that works!
carrie, I started following ellyce fulmore (adhd personal finance creator) and would recommended her content to everyone who deals with impulse purchases due to adhd great video as usual
I love these videos. I am guilty of buying things that are so expensive and don’t work or I never end up wearing them. So I’m with you about being more intentional in 2024.
Hey Carrie, OMG being influenced is so easy, I totally understand. It wasn’t until I became to live a more simple life style that I stopped buying sh*t 😆 and this doesn’t mean that I don’t want to buy things. It just means that I double think and I don’t buy impulsively. But, I love seeing UA-camrs that buy things 😅. Although I have a channel to live with less.
Re: the people telling you to donate less. I don't think giving things away (especially to people you know will use it) is an issue! I think, if anything, you could look into buying more intentionally and really researching purchases to ensure the colour, style, details, warmth work for you and not just a trend - a lot of he issues you have with these items are because they never suited your lifestyle or preferred palette. Still give things away you don't want but also buy things you actually love and can use 💕
I have oily, not smooth skin and honestly my favorite combo is my Dollar Tree serum primer and Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator. It's kind of like a BB cream consistency/ coverage. But with the serum primer it honestly stays put all day, no creases or anything ! And it's enough coverage but still looks natural.
I had the same problem with my nb 550s and i fixed it by bending it with my hands and using the back of a pen to guide a different bending pattern so it didnt dig in. Its really hard to explain but i hope this helps. I also had problems with the tounge moving and digging in so i sewed in in place on one side which fixed it
I think the weather thing in correlation to what we buy is so important. I mainly love warmer clothes but i live in south US its too hotttt. whats crazy is most of my summery clothes are too heavy too.
When I was first watching YT a few years ago I bought errything Jeffree Star recommended 😬 I can’t think of any of it that worked for me & instead of trying to return & get my money back I just passed it on to friends who like that sort of thing 🤑
The Hollywood flawless filter is not a foundation it’s like a mix in with your foundation to make your face look more glowy and dewy. When I use it I dot some all over my face and then dot my foundation on my face and then use a beauty blender to blend the two together and u get a nice finish on ur foundation that looks very natural
I loved this so much! I'm exactly the same way, and same as you, it's often the shoes that get me in trouble. Beautiful, expensive and trendy - and oh so very painful to wear! I've given away many pairs of shoes worn once or twice and then I said never again. That estate sale top - I cracked up! Yes, it's pretty, and I'd do the same thing. Think it's so cute and outside my box, then I get it home, and think, "exactly what was I thinking!!!". Great video - more like this one please. It made me laugh out loud! 🤣
after years of buying things I didn't wear I started to make questions for myself based on the reasons I hadn't worn things. Like do I have somewhere so wear this? do i usually wear things like this or is it probably gonna be too outside the box? am i okay with this being uncomfortable? how often and i gonna really want to reach for this? does this go well with a lot of the things i already have? all those types of questions have helped me a lot in not buying things that realistically are probably not gonna work.
Hollywood flawless filter isn't really a foundation. It's meant to be a luminous primer/highlighter. I have only been able to use it as a highlighter! It isn't anything you're doing wrong.
Carrie!! Have you tried taking your fry boots to a good ass cobbler? I’ve seen girls with wide calfs do it to vintage boots to stretch them out! And it has worked wonders! So you can try at least 💕
sneakerhead girlie here 👋 the nb 550s are essentially the same as the nike dunks - in terms of mass produced & saturated shoe using the lowest quality plastic-y leather for a lower price point. it doesn't help that the 550s are extremely narrow and lots of issues with heel slippage which may cause the discomfort! I def stay away from the 550s unless they are a collab w/ more premium materials (like ALD, rich paul etc)

I buy the Amazon old lady bras and I'm 29 lol. I am not sweating trying on a bra in a dressing room lol
Oh, my... the cocktail dresses in my past that have briefly visited my closet on the way to a donation bag.
I'd like to turn that collar into a stand-up collar circa Victorian period.
Yes comfortable shoes! I only wear super comfortable wide toe shoes after having 2 toenail surgeries and I'll never go back
Genius
I turn 45 in March and I’ve started a massive declutter! I’ve had a lot of aha moments about my spending habits!
It’s working so far!
when you pulled out the estate sale top I actually laughed out loud ☠️ (I relate)
You are not alone we all get influenced by certain images to make us look better or feel better I have closet and make up mistakes
Carrie. FYI target return period for clothes is 1 year.
"neurospicy brain" is amazing
The olive green jacket looks really great on you!
Flawless filter is better used under foundation to make it more glowy! I even used it as a highlighter. Sadly it broke me out a lot but I liked it much better used like that!
You are cracking me up in this video 😂 glad I’m not the only one who is quite the impulse purchaser..
That wouldn’t be good haha
your hair, makeup, headband remind me so much of Jennifer Lawrence in her hot ones interview. You look GORG!!
First ingredient will most likely end in the root “-cone” (dimethicon, trimethicone, etc.)
Your primer, foundation, and concealer should all match bases… I’ve found personally my setting options need to match too. Where my skin is dry, if all my ingredients are water and I use a powder to set it cracks. I have to use water based setting spray
Because Frye boots are unlined leather, they can be stretched by a cobbler! Some Frye boots come with a wider calf option too.
I have a couple pairs of heels that I can't wear but I can't bear to declutter them.
you may have noticed already but i love your decor so was looking around and the poster behind your globe has come off the wall at the top!
Thank you!! It was my old vision board from last year that I forgot was back there 😂❤️
i know i would love that selkie dress! i remember when you first tried it on and i went to buy it IMMEDIATELY bc i had been thirsting over Selkie dresses for forever, and i was so devastated when it was sold out on eloquii :(
The black top you showed with the oversized collar reminds of something Kathleen from Kathleen Illustrated would style in one of her videos.
Happy to hear I'm not the only one who is tricked into buying a special brush for extensions! I Used it once and hated it so much!
LOL.
Genuinely appreciate these!
These are my favorite videos you do!!! So happy you posted another!
The blouse with the big collar would be so cute with straight leg jeans mules or loafers with a big organza scrunchie!!
the headband looks SOOO good on you!!! such a look i love it sm!
Try wearing little bandaids for the green heels on all the spots where it hurts. I know it’s a lot of work but it might help
I know you were worried about the length of the video but I'm watching this on a road trip so thank youuuu.
My best friend has that same pair of New Balances. Lately she’s been thirsting after the Adidas that everyone has. I have a theory that once you wear the “it” shoe of the year you can become addicted to getting the new “it” shoe every year. For that reason I prefer the shoes that are less popular so I can hopefully wear them for years without feeling they’re outdated
i just love you!! i’m sure makeup artists tell you this ALL the time but I am DYINGGGG to get my hands on your face 😍😍😍
I thinlk the olive green jacket is beautiful and looks great on you! I think you should keep it. The camo is trendy and thse jackets are very difficult to find. I looked for sothing similar and I could not find it.
Those New Balances hurt my pinky toes so so bad, but I don’t have the heart to give them up!
maybe get rid of things that don’t work and hold on to staples/your absolute fav pieces?
Girly you will need to drop a link for that headband cause I refuse to buy one that doesn’t look exactly like yours. It’s so cute!!! 🩷
Girl i dont know what you doing but your look is serving. The makeup the hair is a vibe
I've made so many purchases over the years I regret too. It's actually so important to buy things that fit your lifestyle and work day to day.
someone taught me to dot the flawless filter at high points / spots you want to cover up and blend with skin tint over primer! it turns out SO gorgeous ✨
That little black dress looks so good on you tho 😭 just wear it one time with a blazer and tights or something before you donate it lol
The way I ran to watch this video. I love these kinds of videos :3
I use the Hollywood Flawless Filter either under foundation or just on the areas where I want to glow. I definitely can't and wouldn't use it solely as foundation because I need coverage, lol. Try it where you would put highlight and see if that works!
carrie, I started following ellyce fulmore (adhd personal finance creator) and would recommended her content to everyone who deals with impulse purchases due to adhd
great video as usual
Your prob with the new balance is my problem with the dunks. The toe box is weird on the feets. I get you, I know your literal pain.
I agree. Thoughtful and intentional buying is the way to go. And passing stuff on that doesn't work.
The olive jacket is so cute on you Carrie!
This is why you try on shoes before you buy them. I would not spend 150 on shoes and not even know how they fit
the ruffle collar top reminds me of a thrifted dress I wore to 80s day during my high school spirit week. I served but yeah I never wore it again!
Those are good questions to ask oneself. 👍
Hollywood flawless filter isn't really a foundation. It's meant to be a luminous primer/highlighter. I have only been able to use it as a highlighter! It isn't anything you're doing wrong.
I never get tired of these de-influencing videos. Love them!
Don’t buy for looks, buy for the lifestyle. I’m always thinking of this.
