  • The ECHO 58-Volt Cordless String Trimmer sets itself apart from most of the other string trimmers by having a power head that allows for other attachments to be added when they become available. This unique brushless motor helps to deliver superior power, run time and durability. ECHO String Trimmers are equipped with a variable speed trigger, high/low speed switch and a 14 in. - 16 in. adjustable cutting swath. The high/low power switch allows you to choose between more aggressive cutting or extended run time. The ECHO Speed-Feed 400 line advancement is nice and refilling is quick and easy. The String Trimmer, battery and charger are all backed by a 90 day money-back guarantee, a 5-year consumer warranty and a 2-year commercial warranty.

    Owned this for about 2 weeks, took it back. Way too heavy for comfort. 5 years later Echo still hasn't updated the insanely heavy batteries from what I can tell.

    Not one mention of how to change the string or how to forward it. Alas.

    20 minutes isn't long. I'd really like my dad to get something like this. Hopefully its lighter than a similar power gas model. Plus there's no fumes. But they get ya with the batteries just like the oil companies do with gas. I really like that the head is detachable. They've got other stuff coming for it for sure. Great video!!!

      Love2boat92 for many, 20 minutes is great. Please remember, I pushed these pretty hard on my property for those times. I have 400 feet of ditch bank to mow each time.

      Love2boat92 If you really want the ECHO, you would have to break it up into multiple cuttings or get a second battery. IMHO, one with a 6 amp hour battery would be the best for you. We have a lot of reviews that walk you through these. also check out our blog for more info on the ones we looked at. www.workshopaddict.com/tools/

      WorkshopAddict Yeah. Good point. A second battery would be very good. I wonder how much gas it takes to go thru 1 fully charged battery? That would be a neat video. I will check out the blog. Thanks!!

      Love2boat92 I can tell you that I can do my yard twice on my Stihl FS130 before I fill the tank with fuel. I only use the Stihl fuel, so I figure about a dollar and a half each time I trim the yard. I am sure they make some models with less power that use less fuel.

    I've had mine for some five (5) years now and I Love mine! Recently cracked the trigger switch so I ordered a replacement. My only issue with mine is that sometimes the line over feeds and I'll have to manually rewind it back in which is a bother, but it'za Beast and if I had to would buy another. thanks for sharing/posting @ WorkshopAddict. I bought the echo trimmer about a month ago and i'am happy with it.I also have echo gas powered equipment, trimmer,hedge trimmer and chainsaw ,but the exhaust was getting to me.I don't like how it cuts out sometimes when the motor gets hot but you deal with it.I used the straight shaft lawn edger attachment with it and powered it no problem.

  • @BrentRivers
    @BrentRivers 9 років тому +1

    I'm using the straight 1/2 hedge trimmer and the bent arm edger in the PAS attachments with no issues. I could see where the heavier torque attachments might cause some issues, but i've had none using any of the attachments i'm using.

    It looks like the power head to tool attachment is identical to other Echo units. I'd bet the Echo edger attachment would fit this head as well.

    I have a gas one that I have used for years. I feel that the gas one overloads at about the same point as the electric. It just fails differently.

    So sorry to give a terrifying bad reputation to these item BUT here is the BUT I bought a new one at home depot and after leaving the battery doing it's thing after 4 hour's it never pass the testing step so the battery never got to get charged out of the box new it came out to be for me defective

  • @opmike343

    Mine has the cutout issues as well, and it does it independent of motor load. Hell, sometimes, if I just give it full throttle without cutting anything, it'll cut out.

      +opmike343 Contact the store you bought it from. Rumor has it they corrected the issue in software.

      Consumer Reports indicates the fix for this is to hit the battery check button at least once after charging. Known issue from Echo for all units built before Feb 2016.

    • @KriegerKrieg
      @KriegerKrieg 7 років тому +2

      Incorrect. There are two arrows that align with the eyelets on the bump head. You cut off `10-12 feet of line and push it straight through the head WITHOUT taking the cap off. It is by far the easiest trimmer head to load on the market now. I mow lawns for a living and laugh when other crews don't know about speedfeed heads, they truly are time savers.

    how do you keep the mice out of those OSB walls?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  9 років тому

      bajapointe I start with keeping the mice under control on the outside by putting steel wool un the corners of the siding so they cannot climb up and access the attic. I also have a product called "tomcats" outside that house a poison to keep the population down outside. On the inside, since this is a stick built structure, I have block up 8" and then 3 (2x6's) on the flat for the stud walls that the OSB is screwed to. They would have to chew through a lot of board to get into the walls. The walls are insulated with blown in insulation, so I would see it on the floor if they do get in.

    I am pretty sure that most to all of the echo trimmers plus this one is already interchangeable with there current attchandment. I remember dealing with them when I was working putting display up it looks like the same design plus I double checked sales site recommend sale items to go with was the attchandments.

      Mike Z It is middle of the road for stock (no upgraded battery). I would assume commercial guys would have multiple units with multiple batteries and a system that charges on the road. You could also drop the line down in size to conserve battery.

    I just assembled a new ECHO 58-Volt Cordless String Trimmer, and put in the charged battery that was tested in my lawn mower,
    and it doesn't work. When I depress both triggers, it does not start. I hear a clicking sound near the battery each time I depress the triggers. Is there something simple that I forgot to do? Or is the ECHO string trimmer junk?

    • @WorkshopAddict

      Take apart the two sections in the middle and see if it will run without the trimmer attached. It sounds like something might me bound up.
