As beginner and novice drivers (anyone slower than within challenging esports level) we should be doing hours of practice without tc to learn proper throttle, brake, and steering inputs while maintaining control. Use tc in races but use zero tc to build skill and improve. Skipping this process will mean faster races at first in lower level but you won't learn the limits of the vehicle and your skill the same because tc will always keep a limit on the inputs. Same for ASM amd counter steer assist. Yes they will keep a vehicle more consistent but you need to figure out where you are losing traction and why and fix those issues then use tc to be more consistent not as a crutch to skip that learning process. Yes gt3 gt4 cars use tc irl but they are driven by professional drivers with complete understanding of managing balance of the vehicle and proper racing techniques. Their tc system is also high tech programmed specifically not a more generic one you see in gt7. IMO when racing everyone should attempt to improve their base driving skill with zero assists before getting used to tc all the time. Tldr: Tc is a tool to help with consistency especially when tire or weather conditions change but using it at every step of development is a crutch in your journey as a driver will hamper growth and progression.
good comment, yes i would maybe be more consistent faster over a longer duration with tc but i would learn as much about the car im driving, with assist all cars would be more similar wich again defeats the purpose of testing cars until you find your driving style but hell what do i know 🤣
TC on GT7 to me only works when you're racing and tire wear is going to happen, raise it up the more your tires degrade, other than that its always off on regular races
What’s annoying is you have to throttle *differently* with it on 1 versus 0. If you try to apply just the perfect amounts of throttle as if you were set to 0, you end up slower. So you have to abuse the throttle harder with it set to 1 than you normally would.
I wish it would not reset the value each time I restart a track while I try to find the perfect setting. Changing it in assist settings is stupidly disabled, you need to exit the track. Change TCS and start it again... why?
Learning to drive without TC will make you consistent. Using TC will consistently make you rely on something other than yourself to be fast. TC covers up inability.
I've been using TC1 since launch for the exact reason you stated. I noticed that with correct throttle control I had better corner exits on average even though hard core sim racers mock me for using it lol
The real question is which one is faster.. I mean yes TC 1 can give you that consistent lap times but ultimately TC 0 will help you move up in rankings overall, granted your not spinning out
@@Harmonic14 It really depends on who you are. I tried to use no TC in GT6, then Sport, then 7 across a number of years. Eventually decided I'd never be able to overcome my inconsistency (racing games aren't my top genre) and have enjoyed the consistent lap times far more with TC1. If it doesn't take long, congrats, you're probably very good at the game.
@@ItsWillLee You're missing the point. If someone is still spinning on every couple of corners with TC off after more than 10-15 hours, they're probably never going to be able to put full laps together that are actually faster than their TC-on laps where they can push their accelerator and steering a bit more. It's better for some (less serious) drivers to accept their limits if racing games are just something they dabble in for a bit of a variety. Of course, people who play racing games often and competitively should definitely try to play without TC to improve their skill.
Traction control is great. If you have good enough throttle control to not have to use it, that's great too. What's funny to me tho is everyone says gt7 isn't a racing sim. I play a.c.c. in my rig and gt7. A.c.c. still feels more forgiving. I play t.c. off on asseto and stability off. And I find it easier to control than when I play gt7 w t.c. on.
I use traction control on 1, but that is due to controller setup. The problem I have is I use the controller setup of a PS1, steering with the direction buttons, X for accelerate and square for brake. I have done this since GT1 and just got used to using them and even though I tried to use the analog for steering and R buttons, I just couldn't seem to get used to them. This means I don't have the ability to slowly apply to the accelerator, brake or the steering. I hope to save up for a wheel and pedals sometime soon so I can, but life's bills always seem to get in the way. In the meantime I guess I will just keep on quickly tapping the buttons for ABS and traction control. As for the steering, well, it makes it interesting getting the apex and exit on corners just right. I did find that once you are going straight you accelerate faster and if you start to turn you wash off speed, so you can control going down the straights a bit better than with analog sticks
When you hear these guys say don't use TCS, yeah well, the alternative to TCS is looking down the track the wrong way or from the infield grass for most people. The funny part is, I am seeing guys who only wrecked on GTS when someone else wrecked them looking the wrong way down the track. In GTS TCS was actually slower, because it would engage every time the gear changed which is where the majority of the stigma comes from using TCS. ABS though, you really need a load cell braking system to turn ABS off. The spring assembly systems on most pedal sets lack too much sensitivity to allow ABS off to be faster. More often than not, you will lock the brakes with ABS off on most pedal sets.
@@drewyin9247 no, that is not the problem. They fixed the biggest issue in last update. Rear drive cars don’t weight shift straight into a tire slide now. TC is NOT about babysitting your throttle inputs and making you a noob, but rather a companion that helps you have a lot more confidence with your driving.
