I remember trying to watch this in the theaters. It's so dark, might as well get the audio book
Also, can you do a video for the movie, the number 23 staring Jim Carrey
I think when the studio said "we need to make the sequel darker" they took it literal
No lies detected, damn thats one thing I still absolutely dislike about this movie!
Lmao! So true.
Underrated comment fr 😂
Love this side of a Predator. Not a Hunter for sport, but a “Cleaner.”
Wolf: janitors a good job m8 be polite be efficient and have a plan to kill everyone you meet lol
Yeah the idea was excellent, but of course. They F**ked it up
But he was sloppy! Why would a "cleaner" fight a Xenomorph in a nuclear power planet?! 😂
I loved how they portrayed the lone predator in this film as proper elite hunter, both skill and tactical wise, casually dispatching several xenomorph as contrary to most Yautja whom are inexperienced.
Average blooded yautja can easily dispatch several xenomorphs but one moment of carelessness means even they will die.
That's why they respect the xenomorphs even though they sometimes appear to either regard them highly or loathe them
He’s named after wolf from pulp fiction Lol
Even then I feel like one elite hunter couldn't possibly win against an pred alien.
Should've sent about 5 elite hunters considering note how the the predators respect the humans for their intelligence and cunning and wits after all plenty of hunters have fallen by humans.
@@koreancowboy42The thing is the infestation got out of hand because chet was a young queen and could reproduce super fast.
Also when wolf checked out what was happening in while he was on yautja prime he didn't know that it chet was predmorph, he only knew that chet was a predmorph when he saw the recording on bone grill's biomask form the crashed ship.
Wolf didn't know the threat was so serious until got to the crash site, when he realized how serious it was he understood how under prepared he was.
1 elite yautja is enough to solve the mess, 5 is too much. it's just that wolf didn't know what he dealing with until it was too late. If he had known he would have taken more weapons before leaving yautja prime.
1 elite yautja can solo entire hoards of enemies by themself with no help, see what prince and scarface did. 1 elite is clearly enough.
This is one of my fav childhood movies. Even though it’s terrible 💀
Thank you for covering it 🙌🏻
It isn't so much "terrible" as it hard as hell to see. Seriously, this movie is super dark and hard to physically SEE
Both avps are decent i never really understood the hate
"fav childhood movie's"...
It was only released in 2004!! Lmao
@@TheFirstCalled.60AD ya I’m betting he’s young. 2004 IS childhood for some ppl lol
Released 2007. The first AVP was 2004
“That’s crazy! The government doesn’t lie to people” funniest line in the movie
"Getting to the chopper with the kind of urgency that Dutch would appreciate" killed me sjhds well played
I remember watching this back at like 2008. This has to be the movie that got me hooked up in both the Alien and Predator's Lore. It wasn't much loved by the people of the franchise and I can see why but it certainly holds a special place within my core memories which is the reason why I got hooked in the Xenomorphs and Hunters Conquest in their ever expanding universe in their franchise. Thanks as always for making these videos that cover most of what I use to watch way back then.
Little Fun Fact: the Predator of this movie is nicknamed Wolf after Winston Wolf from Pulp Fiction.
Because they're both Cleaners, that's genuinely clever
Though the Wolf Predator was an awesome character, I just wish he had more screentime
And his bio helmet is very reminiscent of PREDATOR 2 City Hunter Bio Helmet.
I kinda like this movie as a kid. I can see why critics don't love it, but the fact they focused on the Alien Vs Predator Thing 100% without giving too much attention to the humans was amazing.
The baby part had to be one of the most disturbingly scariest part in any movies I've seen... Like that is the definition of Hell.
Agreed, especially if you think about it. The Predalien not only impregnated an already late-term pregnant woman, but the chestbursters had to have eaten or otherwise destroyed the fetus while the woman had to have felt the thrashing fully aware of what was happening. Easily one of the most viscerally frightening scenes in a franchise sci-if/horror movie.
@@Gantros scared me as a kid I swear 😂
Yup 100% agreed
There's another aspect to the horror in that scene that has ever been with me since I first saw this film. The Predalien enters a nursery full of newborn babies, there's a closeup on the Predalien's head, and then it cuts to the next scene, leaving us with the implication that the Predalien slaughters all the newborns. There is nothing more horrifying and unsettling than the notion that someone or some predator would willingly kill a newborn baby or, worse, do so with enjoyment or satisfaction. It turns my stomach to even think about this as I type it.
@@Robert_Douglass Fuck this movie is dark!
The Predalien in this movie wasn’t just a normal predalien like what we normally see in the AVP games. This one was also a queen, which was why it had more alien instincts.
Almost a queen. The Director's commentary states that Chet is shown in a not yet fully matured queen stage.
@@vladyvhv9579 it was still more dangerous than a normal Predalien was
Chalk it up to terrible writing
@@vladyvhv9579it's make no sense it's impossible the only predalien queen recorded is bioengineered by Weyland yutani corporation
I love how the elite predator gets an image of a new never before seen species along with it's forming brood, and rather than calling for help, or alerting others as to what's going on, he's just like: "Nah I got this"
Batman activity
Totally a guilty pleasure!! Aliens and Predator movies will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart..
This was such a dumb fun movie,I love it! Darkness aside, I think it looks pretty good. I even found myself liking the characters more than I thought I would.
How is it dumb tho??? Fr
That single predator was the best character in the movie. Instead of taking two other predators with him to go step this hybrid threat he goes by himself.
I like that this is essentially a 50's sci-fi monster movie. The story beats, the small-town setting, the stock characters, the sporting goods store, the ending... It's all very reminiscent of stuff like The Blob, or some of those giant insect classics.
It feels like it really could have fit in during the revival of the 80's.
hmm...ive really struggled with this movie as a fan of the alien and predator films - but your perspective is interesting and ill rewatch it through that lens.
the small town suburban setting seemed completely dated and kinda hokey pokey...i didnt get why they did that, and it seemed like a boring choice. but if its an homage...thats actually really interesting!
Not a great movie, but a guilty pleasure as it has some good elements to it. Predalien was kick-ass, plus Sanaa Lathan and Kristen Hager are babes to this day 😂
I watched AVP on DVD as a kid, (don't know how mom let that one get to me). Watched this later on Netflix as a teenager at some point. These are what led me to the alien series and the predator series. So glad I watched these silly movies, if I hadn't I wouldn't have found the original masterpieces
One of those movies that reminds us:
Hey, maybe some concepts are best left on smaller scales and left to comic book writers.
There go my dreams of _Alien vs. Swamp-Thing_ and _Magneto vs. Predator._
Like this series and would be down for a AvP3 with the Queen from the first AvP, but a few years later. Of course it would end with all evidences of the Xeno being destroyed to keep the public from knowing, and continuing Weyland-Yutani's early years of learning about them.
Honestly if Wolf was the main protagonist, that could've made this movie so much better. I mean we are the most invested whenever he's on screen. Also if you're dropping xenomorphs in Colorado, they should at least go all out and give us a moose hybrid or a bear hybrid
It's so wild that you would make this video. I've been on a crazy Alien and Predator universe kick for about two weeks now. I hadn't even realized you uploaded yesterday haha. Thanks for this 🙏
Hope you enjoyed it fam!
"The 304 has skills" lmao yoooo
Well done as usual with another thoughtful video on a piece of beloved fiction.
Thank you kindly!
Beloved is a interesting choice of words
@@George_Fl0yd It is indeed beloved, although not without its issues!
The Wolf was probably one of the best predators I have seen. He was experienced and knew how to kill the xenomorphs efficiently by creating traps and utilizing it's equipment with great intelligence. And this is probably the only one with the highest kill count out of any predator we've seen in cinema. Feel free to correct me in the comments (be respectful but informative).
Kind of weird how the elite Predator is tasked with erasing all traces of alien activity in the town, but it goes ahead and skins a deputy that it killed like that wouldn't raise the alarm when the body is inevitably found.
It's not the evidence of the Xenomorphs he's erasing. It's their DNA. Ensuring that they won't contaminate the Yautja's favorite hunting grounds. Also, the skinned bodies are often thought to be a decoy, like "These people were killed by a Yautja. No Xenomorphs here." The Yautja are fine with humans knowing they exist, even with knowing the Xenomorphs exist. They just don't want Xenomorph infestations ruining Earth, which is home to their other favorite prey species.
Also the skinned human is also a warning to anyone venturing too close.
Force of habit :]
Any time
HAHAHAHAHAHA anytime
I think it was just MOSTLY disappointing to never be able to SEE $HIT during the entire movie... You can't tell what's WHAT for most of the movie!! You could smell the maple syrup all over this one too,, but at least that was one of the more wholesome and endearing things that we were able to laugh at it for.
I liked it, Wolf is my most favorite predator because of his experience and skill he’s basically the Batman of predators, he’s a detective and he’s got that grizzled grumpy old man vibe he’s grumbling about teenagers, the xenomorph invasion and that he’s too old for this shit but he’s very good at it and the predalien is just terrifying and the most messed up about it is that it targets pregnant women to lay eggs in each host killing the toddler in the process and creating belly bursters and creating a new hive. Wolf fought this thing hand to hand even though he died in the process but defeated it also. Also even though I see why the movie wasn’t good but I’m not a judging person I liked it
This movie was better than the first avp movie this one really felt like the avp comics it was always a strong predator against a horde of aliens I loved this movie wolf was the closest thing we got to a jungle and city hunter vibe replicated this predator felt like the 2 original OGs predator
Chet: (attempts to double-jaw bite Wolf)
Wolf: (casually rips Chet's doublejaw out)
Wolf wasn't Batman, he was Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon! "Go spit, you asshole, I'm too old for this shit!"
Yasss 😊omg you finally listen to my request and comment I left you last time im so happy 😁 thanks 🙏🏾 we really needed this one 🥰🥰🥰 u broke it really good
I laughed so hard at this taking place in Colorado. Im a native here in the ol CO, and I promise, we have no forests, anywhere, that look like that. It was the most hamfisted 'shot in california' I've ever seen.
Also I laughed so hard at blondie getting rekt by the predator throwing fan.
Fellow CO native here. And i agree. It didn't even look like the area around Gunnison.
Wrecked, not rekt. Jeez, have people forgotten how to spell?
@@Robert_Douglass The well achsyually boomer energy is strong with this one.
@@jamessmall6499 May it serve you well.
This is my favorite Predator of the films franchise. I believe this is the Veteran "Wolf" predator from his cracked tusk in the comic books. City hunter from Predator 2 is a close second. Lliterally has all the collected Masks and weapons in his lair with a front seat on Yautja prime.
I don't know about comics, but this one is Wolf, who has an acid scarred left side of his face and a blind left eye, stated in his bio to be from taking down a Queen, alone, early in his career. Basically, if the events of AVPR hadn't happened, he would've likely became an Elder within a short amount of time.

You are someone I like to just talk about movies and theories around a bbqpit
I don't have the hate for this movie that many people do. I do like the idea of a Predator being sort of like a sergeant major. I also like how this movie showed that the humans were actually the most deadliest considering the nuke the whole town. And they're more than likely blame it on Al-Qaeda. And it showed the very beginning of that non-descript Asian company hint hint. That would be the bane of Sigourney Weaver aka Ripley.
This is one of my childhood favourites, and it's such an epic movie, but I wish they fixed the poor lighting!
Another classic video many thanks 😎👍
This I consider a Christmas film since I did release around that time and I loved it
You sir are a legend, greetings all the way from Texas
Hey Elizardo! Welcome my friend :)
Regardless, I really love and cherish this film since its the Predalien's debut
. . . But the whole film is just DARK, like literally dark lighting everywhere
I’m shocked you’re not at a million yet, you’re awesome
Like when the Predator shot that xenomorph in the head and the acid melted off the bully's face. And the Predator had to look of oh well.
I’m a huge fan of both the Alien and Predator franchises. The AvP movies have always received a bad wrap. While I can agree with a lot of the issues…. I’m still a fan of both movies. That said, my best friends and I saw this in the theaters and boy did we have a lot of laughs, at the time it felt more like a comedy than a horror or “creature feature”. When the predator threw his Shuriken and it stuck that blonde to the wall and her lower half melted off, our group busted out laughing as did the rest of the theater. They got my movie bucks and subsequent cash for the DVD probably the Blu-ray in the future.
''it then impregnated everything in its path'' - sounds like my 20s nomsayin 😂
lol
Wolf Yautja is my all time favorite
I hope we get another AVP movie. This one and 04 AVP are my favorite AVP films. I love the solo films as well(minus the 2018 pred movie). Well done my dude.
Wolf is my one of my favorite preds and the Predalien is one of mt favorite Xenos as well.
"The 304 has skills" 😂😂😂 sorry to keep commenting but you wildin' on this 1
She the one wildin with two boyfriends in one day 😂
@@filmcomicsexplained 😂😂😂
This movie bombed so hard at the box office, all plans for a third AVP film were cancelled. It made $130 million dollars against a $45 million dollar budget, while AVP made $179 million dollars against an $80 million dollar budget.
That's cause this movie sucks balls
This use to show up every Saturday on the sci-fi channel I probably watched it 50x
I always thought that "wolf" the cleaner Predator came to earth to cover all the evidence of the Yautja and xenomorph existence not for the thrill of the hunt.
He came for both! That’s why he’s the Top P
Always excited to see your Alien and Predator.👍
God I wish they didn't make most of this movie too dark to see anything
Yeah it was lit by the same team that worked on the last season of GOT lol
I watched it just to see two species try to annihate each other...until the movie showed that the humans are more deadly than the Predators, Xenomorphs and Predalien
4:06 Niyat trolling anyone with Amazon Home 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Given the time Scar learn English, he would warn Lex about the Predalien.
RIP Scar 😢
This movie is literally dark. Like so dark you can't see shit.
The way you describe the movie is much better than the real thing!
Makes me want to watch it again even though it sucks.
And that kids is why we don’t touch random objects we find in the forest
@21:20 My exact reaction, after hearing that line. 🤣
Hey @FilmComicsExplained, don't know if you noticed it but on the screen Colonel Steven's is observing you can see in the corner that the name of the organisation containing the outbreak is infact the OWLF - yes the group from Predator 2 who tracked the City Hunter
Omg that ending!!
My favorite AVP Movie, the BEST, most realistic, yes its dark but thats why I love it 😊 Wolf is my favorite, never met a villain like the PredAlien, this still stands as my favorite AVP movie
I love this flick! I wish they'd release a version with the lighting fixed.
Wolf will always be my favorite Predator! 🐺
The original AvP comic was one of my favourites growing up, its too bad the movies didn't do it justice. Its more of a Space Western set much later in the lore.
You should look into Screamers (1995), I feel like you'd really enjoy covering it
I love your voice and I love your videos :) 😊
Imagine a Plot Twist were Xenomorphs are actually humans who were forcefully turned into Xenomorphs to be target practice by the Predators and were trying to escape from the south pole, but the Predators found out right while the humans were exploring! The Xenomorphs trying to defend themselves and warn the Humans are quickly attacked by the Predators who are manipulating the humans (Female Lead Character) to kill them before the real truth comes out. APR Sequel is a pissed off Pred-Alien that just wants revenge of humans and Predators for what happen!
My biggest problem with the first AvP is when scar is making the spear and shield, how the hell can she put her hand in the shield and not have it immediately destroyed by the acid blood?
Now this is what you call a Dark movie. Literally 🤣
Not as good as its predecessor, but happy it took place after AVP. Also, it was nice to finally get a glimpse of the predator home world.
One of my favourite movies from the franchise besides alien 2, i like the big fights and aliens vs humans especially bug like xenomorphs. I personally thought the storyline was well done and easy to follow and all characters were good enough for me.
Wolf became one of my favorite predators because of this flim
One of the darkest movies I've ever seen, literally.
Truly horrific scenario
“Before wrestling the other two like a gigga-chad in each hand.” Sums up how cool wolf character is as a whole.
and Honestly i think this movie and avp 2004 are both underrated greatly
I chuckled more than i should had at 18:10 when he calls the fight the group witnesses as the title of the movie lmao
hehehe
Making me want to watch it
"The 304 has skills" LOL!
'thats crazy the goverment dosent lie to people'
I CANNOT COUNT THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE I KNOW WHO LAUGHED AT THAT LINE
Love these movies, wish we got more predator and alien movies (and alien v predator movies ofc)
Whilst I found Aliens Vs Predator generally enjoyable if a little comic booky, I felt Requiem got a little too bogged down with all the human angles and especially the teenage love story. Furthermore, now and again, I can't help but get the impression that this was an attempt to somehow recycle Critters. Speaking of which, you need to do Critters next :D
Fitting, Im playing Alien Isolation right now and the xenomorphs do not seem that scary, yet in the game the Alien is super scary
[Predator/Gears Of War] What If Predators Were In Gears Of War Video Game Series And [Aliens/Dead Space] What If Xenomorphs Were In Dead Space Video Game Series
The thought of A yellow taxi pulling up in Gunnison is fucking hilarious
I prefer the directors cut of AVP Requiem. In the version described here, parts of the story have been shortened. The most important thing is that in the DC the predator "Wolf" doesn't know anything about the Predalien until he arrives on earth. All he receives is the ship's distress call. He is only sent there to investigate what happened and to remove any traces. It is only when he puts on the mask of the dead Predator in the ship and looks at the recording of the mask that he sees the Predalien for the first time and decides to hunt it.
Love the video Can you do Maegor the Cruel,Jaehaerys I,Viserys I,Rhaenyra Targaryen,Otto Hightower,Tytos Lannister,Barristan Selmy,Robert Baratheon,Visenya Targaryen,Rhaenys Targaryen and Aerion Brightflame from a Song of Ice and Fire and the Suicide Squad and Batman from DC Comics

These scene where a Xenomorph attacks soldier woman’s husband was exactly what I wanted to see, but damn this movie was dark, and I m not talking about lighting.
Hospital scene was horrific
I definitely want to see this movie.
I love the setting of the movie
I know people are saying it’s too dark but I like the dark rainy setting

Really never got the hate towards this movie/series, i still like it after so many years. AVP was what got me into Aliens, although strangely I was never interested in Predator.
I'm fairly certain that isnt the Clans symbol. It's like a symbol showing what he has hunted. There is a whole list online what those symbols mean, and that means a xenomorph kill. They dont just hunt xeno's and humans, there are many ways to become blooded, and there are many other symbols too. The Predators have a tradition to not let their tech fall to other species as well, thats why Wolf (this pred) went to earth, as an elite spec ops to go in, destroy the ship, and stop the extinction of one of their favorite species to hunt, (humans).
This was the first Alien v Predator movie I saw (The one where there was a chest burster at the end). So thats why its so familiar
I LOVED THIS ONE - no happy endings.
Movie would have been so much better if we could actually see what was going on. I get things being in the dark make it scarier, but not when everything is obscured by darkness… it’s like watching a broken monitor but the speakers still work.
