From what I heard they pushed to use special brand new cameras to shoot the movie but it ended up making it way too dark. they decided instead of stopping production, that they would fix it in post. It was poor filmmaking. There’s actually some behind-the-scenes footage of the one of the brothers telling a crewmember “Shut up Dave” when he says it’s not bright enough. Lol.

A lot of problems could have been solved by Wolf turning up to an aftermath in a Racoon city style situation. Large town, a handful of survivors and lots of aliens. Yutani have sealed it off and are observing which explains why no military or federal presence. So you get the city setting on the cheap because you don't need a big cast.
It's so sad, man. Especially when the setup was all there. The Aliens could've been stand-ins for zombies, the Predator or the Predalien could've been a stand-in for Mr. X/Nemesis, and Weyland/Yutani = Umbrella... 😔
I love this film. I saw it with my father at the local cinema. He loved it as well. Like these two comentators, you must have been born after the act of adjusting the brightness, color or contrast on TV sets was a rational, common sense thing to do when a particular movie or program is too dark or too bright or color hue is off. I mean, how difficult is it to push a button on the remote to increase the brightness on the tv? Clearly too difficult a task for you.

I love Reiko Aylesworth's character, Marine Pilot Kelly, who could've been a "take charge" kind of character exactly like Ellen Ripley in Alien and Aliens. But instead, for whatever misogynistic Hollywood reason, the plot focuses on two literally "dumb and dumber" brothers, Dallas and Ricky, a criminal and pizza delivery guy, who do nothing validly heroic to warrant being lead characters. Kelly, on the other hand is a marine pilot, trained for battlefield combat, but the directors, invalidly and typically not true to character, have her cowering in a graveyard on the ground like a virginal, helpless maiden. Both directors, Greg Strause and Colin strause, seriously need to rethink their life choices as storytelling and directing movies is not their forte.
