Hi Pete! I'm at the 23 min. mark and had to jump in at the "what words can you use" discourse. As someone who has been on youtube since the very start I think what has changed is that people have so many expectations of youtube creators 'adjusting' to their 'demands'. It's more nuanced than I can put into a few sentences ofc., but overall, the mentality early on wasn't to tell someone on youtube what to do or how they should adjust to their audience (aka them). Used to be you watched someone and either liked it or not, but wouldn't have thought of directly voicing my opinion on how they should actively change ever so slightly to better fit with what I personally want. I do see the irony in me writing this as a comment directed at you, but I guess I'm just fascinated by how this barrier and distance between youtube creator and viewer has diminished to almost nothing, with people feeling completely o.k to tell creators directly their many different wishes and suggestions. Wonder if you noticed a change even over the last few years in that regard? In any case, you're awesome and just do ya thang. Cheers
I haven't noticed a change recently. I think my age is something that sets me apart from other UA-camrs and particularly in gaming. I never grew up with content creators existing so there was nothing to aspire to in that regard. I've also always been the type of person to listen to feedback (particularly if it is presented with kindness which it so often isn't) but not allow the feedback to override what I truly want.
I appreciate that often times the audience has 'advice' which is thinly veiled 'i like or dislike x' 'please do more or less of x' but it disconnects from two realities crucial for the process of creating this content:
1. How close is that person to the average viewer?
And
2. Ultimately I have to make a show that I enjoy making otherwise I will stop making it.
I suppose there are a lot of people who would do what I do as a job even if they didn't like it. Which is why you so often hear of burnout from creators. But I would like to hope that I never will.

You know now that i think about it, purple probably was planning to have his 4 troops hit that single Pink 1 (that he didn't know you both capped and 8 stacked. and then combine his troops together, he's probably pissed he wasted the 4. Had know idea a guy would cap on either side of his small stacks. And I feel like you don't have to go ALL capital turn one, you could have a short stack somewhere else to guard a really strong spawn, but most on cap sounds right.
I'd be curious if that is a semi-auto strategy, the idea of just taking a lot of board with several 4 and 5 stacks just chew through 1-stacks.
@@LithmusEarth I think purple was hedging, putting stacks in a few locations to choose the best capital based on where others go and his plan was to later reconsolidate. But all 3 of his stacks were disconnected with a capital between each. So he chose the 3rd stack as capital and figured he might as well use the remaining stacks to take as much board as possible since he couldn't connect them with his capital.

these settings might be really good for true random. the decision to toss 4 in by purple could be an effective way to block early bonuses in some cases with a hidden cap to retaliate. obviously, he was dumb here. but sprinkling some 2's or 3's to slow someone down where you see tha blizzards would make for an OP opening position might be a good play. especially because of the fog you don't look quite like you're targeting before negotiation and can still play that part of the game

I’ve played a few matches with semi, I found it beneficial to have a primary location with a plan b option. Why purple did that 3 ways and one tile apart I have no clue. Plan A is that 5, plan B is wherever he capped (haven’t made it that far yet). I think later in the turn order will find the multi stack more beneficial
Blocker of spoils
Placing stacks in multiple positions hedges against neighbour/inset capping. You just need to defend your capital in the early game and a large cap is useless if you can neither take a bonus nor cards later on.
Which is what would've happened to purple if they were stuck between you and black. The stack would be useless for attacking other capitals anyways.
