Meal you had was banana leaf lunch. Vegetables you had are fried okra, cabbage and local spinach. Rasam is literally tamarind soup boiled with Indian spices. Cuisine is South Indian
Your next trip to Malaysia should be to Sabah and Sarawak. Great culture over there, great peoples, great beaches, forests, great food as well of course!
Almost all recipes are very similar to India's. Also food is served on banana leaf in India. Well, the lady there is from Madras the capital of Tamilnadu state of India. And Chennai is the new name for Madras. Similarly Mumbai for Bombay, Bengaluru for Bangalore, Kolkata for Calcutta, Thiruanantapuran for Trivendrum, Prayagraj for Allahabad.... all in India. Have a pleasant tour ahead 👍
Davud I'm pretty sure I wrote what I'm about to say in another video but since you said "it's very hard to know who is a Malaysian...... Let me say in case you haven't noticed during your travels, Malaysia is a multicultural country. There is a mix of ethnicities that have been in Malaysia for generations. They look Chinese, Indian (both north and south) etc and they are as Malaysian as the Malays are. Malays are not the ONLY Malaysians. I hope that helps and that you have a bit more clarity. Also remember just because someone looks like they are from a particular ethnicity does not mean they have been to the country of that ethnicity. For example, plenty of Malaysians whose forefathers came from India may have never been to India.

Malaysia is one of my favorite country many people from all over the former British colonies if I remember right about have the population is Malay many different cuisines from a lot of countries. Cameron hills was very nice.Brinchang was very scenic with the tea farms .
The green veggie is spinach. Eating on the banana leaf is an Indian custom. What you had was actually of Indian origin. You need to try malay food mainly dishes like grilled fish, squid, prawns, beef, lamb or chicken eaten with a hot sour sauce, beef rendang, asam pedas, masak lemak cili padi, ulam(fresh herbs eaten with sambal belacan/sauce made with chilli, shrimp paste, lime juice etc. Other dishes are ayam masak merah, kerabu, soups made with short-ribs, or bones from the legs of cows etc.
Try the Singh Capati - Sikh/Punjab food just behind the planters hotel up the slope. Their masala tea is good and meal is awesome. Nothing is precook and all cook fresh so slightly a little bit of waiting but taste good!! Also along this main street is a restaurant call Kougen, run by only one chef, he cooked Asian fusion stuff and u could uniquely watch him cooking your meal by the side.
Davud, you keep asking for Malaysian food. There is no such thing as Malaysian food since food sold or served here are based on their ethnicity. Hence, you should ask for either Malay, Chinese, Indian, Punjabi, Thai, Kadazan etc food. The meal you had on banana leaf here is indian food. I saw you ate chinese and indian food already. Next time please ask for Malay food. They will serve you Ikan bakar, ayam masak lemak, asam pedas, daging rendang, sup ekor, sayur ulam etc. Once you have eaten all three ethnic food, you can claim to have eaten Malaysian food.
bro , punjabi's are also indians from north part of India .. but in malaysia most of the indians are from south part of india and most of them are tamil ppl from Tamil nadu ... so u can put tamil , punjabi foods ...etc thanks
This a feature of Davud. He doesn't seem to do any research before making a video. Just shoot video and 'hantam' with the dialogue🤦🏽♂️. It's a pity because he could be a great youtuber. Foreigners always confuse when they talk about Malaysian food. Malaysian is a nationality. What they should say is Malay food, Chinese food or Indian food...going by race to be specific.

Even with food, the lines are blurred. Even though some food here originate from India, Thailand, Indonesia etc, Malaysians have added our own take to it, so it's hard to differentiate between local or "foreign", just like the people. And we may even call the food different names, so some of the terms you use might not apply here. Most Malaysians are able to recognise locals from the foreigners, but as you say, it's always safe to ask. Note: All races who live here are Malaysians, but not all Malaysians are Malays. Malay is an ethnicity. I don't think you've made that mistake before, but many other UA-camrs have, so I'm mentioning it here for all 😉
Correct, the Malays are one of the ethnicities here in Malaysia. I’m tired hearing only Malays are Malaysian or only Malay food is considered Malaysian food..
He has managed to completely confused himself. He should stop asking people where they are from. Just go with the flow. He has no idea about food fruits ect. Makes me wounder what his country has. This days most of the country's carry almost every kind of food.
@@cutiebirdie2216 It's very strange you say this...because many of us notice the opposite. The first thing foreigners would eat when they come to this country is Indian and Chinese food in a country called MALAYsia. 🤷🏽♂️
