OMG I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN U DID THE HERMIONE IMPRESSION. You looked just like her at that moment

Am I happy? Gonna watch Emmie; am I sad? Gonna watch Emmie. No other youtube channel or tv show has this power over me. I'm glad Emmie exists, I truly am.
I was listening to this while I worked away on other things when all of a sudden I heard Hermione's voice and was very confused. Beautiful impression. Also due to this and last vlog, I have been convinced to get a copy of Dombey & Son - cannot wait to sink into that one!
As a Brit for the longest time, I had no idea what bangs were until about two years when I started learning the differences in words between British and American English. We call them "Fringe" not "Bangs" in the UK. Your British accent was good; for a second, I thought I was listening to Hermione Granger in Harry Potter.
I literally STOPPED watching Wednesday on Netflix when I got your notification! ♥️🥰 So sorry you missed the Nutcracker 😱🥺 But happy you are feeling better!
I also love the chestnut praline latte!! It’s honestly the only thing I like from Starbucks during the holiday season. So happy you’re starting to get your taste back ❤
Greenglass House is a childhood favorite of mine and you should definitely read it! I haven't read it in a long time but as a kid I read it over and over again 🥰❄️
I just found you a week or so ago..I think. I love your videos. You explain the plots so well. I live in Costa Rica so it takes a while for me to get books. Very view English shops here. Have you read The Boy In The Striped Pajamas? it is a story during the Holocaust. Very touching. I have bangs too. That was so funny. You are hilarious. Thanks for making my day.
I am Late to watch this video but I love how comfortable it feels to watch it. I can’t imagine someone better than Emma who talks about books and makes it feel like a podcast with good vibes❤
Just started reading The dollmaker of Krakow today after watching your vlog and I am loving it so much. Thank you for recommending it. And loved your bangs.
Im so glad you are loving Dombey and Son! I was waiting for you guys to get into his middle and later books because they are way more mature, with fully fleshed out characters and absolutely beautiful writing 😍 Id be lying if I said that D&S didnt make me cry a little, it is just so beautiful. And i agree about Edith, she is such a frickin boss
I just finished The Winter Duke! I thought it was pretty good, but in my opinion it's worth reading for the romance alone. The romance is really sweet. I love your videos!
Do I watch Emmie or read a book? Does Emmie inspire me to read more? What came first - the chicken or the egg? Not sure any of the answers to these questions 🤣BUT you also inspired me to start a booktube channel so you have been a huge influencer in my life
Glad you're on the mend, Emma. Welcome back, and we missed you, too. lol May your new year be triumphant, calm, and joyous. Hooray for Dombey & Son. Dickens is my favorite and it's great to see someone discover his many excellences.
Glad you are feeling better much better. I want to say how grateful I am that you got me hooked on purchasing my first Dickens book. Dombey & Son sounds like a great story from all your updates on the book. That I can't wait to read it for myself.
I don't think I ever commented on it before but I just love this one particular track you use in your videos (here it starts at 11:30). It's so comforting and dreamy.
It is So So nice to have you back Emma💕 I am happy you are feeling better. I did not get to see the Nutcracker this year either, even though I had told myself this year was The Year! That's ok, there is always next year 💜 Happy Holidays 😊🎄❄️💙❄️
Your father's gift sounds nice. A book for Cultural Anthropology I enjoyed was titled: We Eat the Mines, and the Mines Eat Us, an ethnography focused on South American tin miners. Much better IMHO than Zola's Germinal, which was Realistic fiction. Their entire existence revolves around the mines, from which there is no way out but talented sons do sometimes go to University for technical education in the hope of becoming engineers. To marry their daughters, the miners borrow thousands of dollars for extravagant weddings. I'm sure your dad will love his X-mas present. Take care and Happy New Year.
The way you talk about books makes me believe in a better future :) Your voice is powerfull and must be heard! Besides that, happy to know that you're a fellow inside cap wearing enjoyer. Keep on dripping all over those four walls, gurl!
I was meaning to read Greenglass House for so long, but am glad that I finally did. Now, I've read all the books set in that world and most of her other books as well. As for hair, I agree that it is hard. I've cut my bangs a couple times, but the last time put an end to that forever. I ended up looking like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber. I had to wear berets to hide my bangs for months until they grew out enough so that I could get them fixed by someone who knew what they were doing. Another time, I tried hand-streaking my hair and ended up looking like a Calico cat. It's a look.
I have the same hair type as yours and I can totally relate to you. Bangs is so hard to style with that type of hair. I use heat to style them, it only damaged my hair. So, I never had bangs anymore.
How about rereading A Christmas Carol for a bit of xmas spirit? You love Dickens and it's nice and short. I'm considering starting a re-read of it tonight.
Your videos are so cozy. Sorry you missed The Nutcracker. I rearrange my house all the time! My partner comes home to a new setup all the time. He has finally learned to accept it.
The first 1:30 of your video, so relatable 😅 I got RSV this year after not being sick for the last few years I’m on week 4-5 of this and my doctor has told me to be patient bc it will take up to 6 full weeks before I feel better 🤦🏼♀️
glad you’re doing better this week ❤ I read Greenglass House last christmas and really enjoyed it!! might read A Castle in the Clouds next because of you :)
Every single time I hear calcifer meowing I truly believe it's my cat and i'm looking around for her only to realize she's fully in the basement or something I cannot
Currently reading “My Policeman” by Bethan Roberts and I absolutely love it. Stunning writing and gorgeously melancholic atmosphere. I think you would enjoy it, if you haven’t read it!
Absolutely thrilled with two videos in two days, a vlog was exactly what I needed to get my day of studying going 😊 Sounds like your dad has great taste, Latin American history is honestly fascinating (one of my main interests actually). I will absolutely check out Open Veins, it looks really cool. That and I am also a Tolkien superfan. Perhaps he and I are both incarnations of the same Mesoamerican god and we just don't know it yet. Also David Day tends to be dismissed by a lot of Tolkien scholars but I keep my copies of three of his books on my shelf anyway because even though he's sometimes incorrect, the books are undeniably absolutely gorgeous.
I love bangs they frame your eyes so well. I would never attempt to cut my own bangs, I know to go to the pro's for that,I'm way too picky about my bangs. Glad you're feeling better, sorry you couldn't decorate for Christmas, or see The Nutcracker (my favorite ballet). Hope you have fun at your parents ! Merry Christmas !
I honestly love that you read books for all ages. I took a children's lit and young adult lit class in college, but I still don't have the confidence to buy a middle grade book from a store, even though I sometimes genuinely enjoy those kinds of books. Happy holidays!!!
i'm glad that you're feeling better ❤ i'm currently reading the christmas pig by j k rowling and it's so cozy, and btw the hermione impression at the end was so good 😂 another note : loved your christmas nails !
watched the video on my snack break from writing what has to be a 5k word uni essay and it provided me with the perfect entertainment to get my brain refreshed! i'm sorry you're still struggling with post-covid effects, hopefully they'll soon go away! also love the bangs! and merry early christmas emma!
I had to give up on Midnight in Everwood after 50 pages :') I love the Nutcracker, but the excessive descriptions and bizarre imagery were too much for me. Thank you for validating my decision aha
Hey Emmie, do you have a color system for when you tab the books you read? Do certain colors mean certain things to you? Thinking about my own tabbie system. Thanks!
It' beautiful see you again!!!! Ihad covid too in November after tree years! I'm with you!!! Merry Christmas!!! I'm looking forward to see more winter video!
Totally agree about Midnight in Everwood. Once I read The Story of the Nutcracker by Alexandre Dumas some bits then made a bit more sense but overall the vibe was try hard. (Also can we talk about the s*x scene?! I had NO idea who was doing what 😬 Really cringe.)
Well... I read 4 of Day's books about LOTR, and they all had a bunch of factual errors. They are beautiful, no doubt, but you have to read them with a grain of salt... but it's also an interesting exercise to spot those errors, I had a lot of fun doing it!
I’m very excited to read Donny and Sons -eventually- (always eventually 🤣) I’ve seen the movie and it’s so fun so good. But It must be so very different from the book! The movie is theatrical- a bit of a comedy I think. When you e talked to Carolyn about Dickens you say he was very much into the theatre and that shines through his work. It seems that’s where went with the movie. Have you seen the movie? Do you plan to watch the film adaptations and compare them to the books?
The Hermione impression made my day 10 times better.😂
OMG I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN U DID THE HERMIONE IMPRESSION. You looked just like her at that moment
Am I happy? Gonna watch Emmie; am I sad? Gonna watch Emmie. No other youtube channel or tv show has this power over me. I'm glad Emmie exists, I truly am.

How can a video make you utterly relaxed and warm 🥹🤎✨?
Thanks for the update from you and Calcifer! He is quite vocal in this one!
Oh my god, that voice & visual of Hermione was so spot on!
I was listening to this while I worked away on other things when all of a sudden I heard Hermione's voice and was very confused. Beautiful impression.
Also due to this and last vlog, I have been convinced to get a copy of Dombey & Son - cannot wait to sink into that one!
I'm so glad you're feeling better! I actually am from Kraków so seeing you read a book about my home town makes me really happy 🥰

Emma!!!! The Winter of The Witch!!!! The best winter book ever. So happy you're feeling better.

Your new apartment setup is so so lovely! 💕
Thank you!! 😊
My dad also read Open Veins of Latin America and really enjoyed it as a latinamerican family he keeps recommending it to us !
Greenglass House is a childhood favorite of mine and you should definitely read it! I haven't read it in a long time but as a kid I read it over and over again 🥰❄️
Yay, glad you're mostly back to full strength! Dickens is an all time fave for me. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family! 🙂

Not me getting excited about another book subscription box before learning that it only ships to the US and Canada. *cries in Australian*
Glad to hear you're feeling better. Happy holidays! 🎄

I feel like you’d love “a shiver of snow and sky” by Lisa luddeck! It’s super wintery and whimsical but also a little dark :))
Emmie as Hermione is perfect 😂
Good choice to put the desk in that room. I wondered how you were faring not having natural light by the desk.
Greenglass House is such an atmospheric read! Perfect for this time of year.
