I love that we get what is likely the quarters of the Convocation of Fourteen as the arena for this fight. Super fitting that Elidibus's arena is there, given how much he loved his duty and always gave it 200%.
Not only that, but if that's what it looked like... We get to see where Azem sat. Where he worked alongside his trusted friends and compatriots. I can imagine him on the 14th seat of the circle, Emet to one side and Elidibus to the other
It’s a fitting and great location for our final fight it’s a beautiful arena. And where our predecessor azem also once sat alongside his friends and companions. And by being in this room it’s like as the wol we have earned our seat and place as the next azem. I really love everything about and with the ascians they are fantastic
This arrangement really hits differently than when we’ve heard it before. I’m not sure if it’s just a key change, or the emotion behind it, but this time it feels like a battle between friends, rather than enemies. The past times we’ve fought Elidibus have been as hero and villain, but this feels so much more like how it felt sparring with Venat in Elpis. There’s mutual respect and genuine emotion between our WoL and Themis, and realizing only after that he has vague memories of our prior clashes does it hit all the harder. The rains have ceased, and we have lived to see another day, meeting at journey’s end for one final farewell.
Just hearing this makes me tear up. Every rendition of the amaurot theme is a masterpiece and the fact that we also finally parted ways with him as friends who respected one another… I’m really gonna miss Themis
To quote my boy Hythlodaeus here, "I pray we meet again. If not in this life, then perhaps another. Whensoever it should be, I trust it will be a most joyous reunion."
;-; Goodbye Elidibus. Since ARR you've been a worthy foe and friend. So glad we got to finally actually face him. Not Zodiark, no a Primal he's summon around himself, not as Zenos or Ardbert. We finally got to fight the Ascian in White.
Pardon the essay I'm about to write in these comments, but I just wanted to say something, considering how much this fight struck me in the heart. I said it originally back when this expansion dropped, and we got to see Themis as the "raid teaser" in the final cutscenes. And I said it again during the subsequent tier drops, with Asphodelos and Abyssos. I knew we were gonna have to fight Themis. I knew they weren't gonna let us lose this chance to connect with him again, after that beautiful send-off Elidibus received in 5.3. But instead of it being Elidibus, the Ascian in White that we were so desperate to defeat back in Shadowbringers. It's Themis, the Emissary of the Convocation. The little remnants of his soul, remembering his times with us in the past and the guiding light that Azem bid him watch out for, rather than his Ascian self's fervent desires to see the old world restored. The parallels with the cutscene afterwards, of Themis collapsing and beginning to fade away due to his mangled aether. Your character, kneeling down in front of him, to provide some solace before the end. Giving some clarity before the final sleep. Only to miraculously stand back up and refuse to say goodbye just yet. No longer are they offering a comfort to a dying, confused man. But they forcefully pulled him back to his feet and told him that he wasn't done yet. Oh, how it aches in the heart... To recall the justice that was felt before, yet how sad it makes me now.
I'm totally on it with you since half of my ffxiv buds on discord was forced to witness similar essay xD That really makes you sad but also happy, for that you've got such an amazing farewell with dear friend and you didnt even expect that it will be so good.

@@GetterRay Same. I don't want him to be shackled to his duty, one that has made him suffer in the end so I didn't want to remind him of it. I just want to say we need him ;u;

Not to be overly dramatic, but this version of To the Edge alongside how Elidibus has been around since basically the beginning? Idk this goodbye really hit me hard. He ended up my favorite character by the end.
Three times have we crossed blades with Elidibus before... and now, for this fourth and final clash, we finally face him as he originally was in a penultimate fight that I feel reaches the same heights as Phoenix did all the way back in the Bahamut raids, with a song that's quickly becoming my favorite boss theme in this entire game, even more so than To the Edge. I still love this game with all my heart. That will never be in doubt.
I mean, this is the only time we've truly fought Elidibus. The first time, it was "Zenos", then "Ardbert", and after that came the "Warrior of Light". But this is finally the real him.
I’m almost there with you on the to the edge statement, but we are prolly only thinking that because this is new and fresh. To the Edge will probably never be trumped for me. This is insanely close though. If it had the lyrics for sure though.
@@NajaSide If I remember correctly, it actually really was him. I think they mentioned that Athena found his soul in the aetherial sea, so he's the same Elidibus we fought in 5.3. He wasn't like Ericthonios and Lahabrea where their memories were just grafted onto a random soul.
I was fully expecting this to be the theme for this fight, but it's just arranged so beautifully, and with all of the meaning behind that melody I couldn't help but cry a little in the middle of the fight lol. Soken has outdone himself yet again.
I like to imagine that at 1:49 it’s Elidibus leading with the piano and then at 2:21 it’s the rest of his friends in the Convocation joining him to finish the chorus of the song. You know, anything to keep me sobbing while listening to this.
In every fight versus Elidibus, he had taken the name of whoever he was possessing. Whether it was Zenos, Arbert, and even when he became the Warrior of light, Elidibus was just his subtitle. Not once has Elidibus ever fought you as himself. Until Now. Even though he was Athena's puppet, he got to fight you as his true name, in his true form, and as a reluctant fiend rather than a foe.
In 5.3 he is on the ground and you walk over and kneel in front of him. He leaves crying knowing he can no longer help his friends. In 6.4 when he is set free, he stumbles and falls to the ground. You rush over to him and also kneel. But this time you support him and you go forth one final time to SAVE THIS STAR. And finally when he departs, he leaves HAPPY that his friend is safe and the world is on its proper course. I made a video on it just now but I realized even then i missed a few detaila from watching this 😢

I figured we'd have to fight Elidibus as either the final boss or second to last, it was going to be him and Athena in either of those spots. Still got a little choked up when the cutscene starts and I immediately hear a remix of 'Neath Dark Waters/To The Edge.

But it is a little strange and misleading since the title implies it'll just be the BGM, and all the other videos on the channel seem to have been done properly lol

I was prepared to cry this tier...
...gah
dang it I miss him
Nice send off.
Elidibus's true form
When my man pulled out a spear I had to shed a tear. From one DRG main to another, it was an honor to fight Elidibus one last time.
It’s a staff though? Even the descriptions about it describes it as such.
This gives me Chain - Magnificentral mix vibes. I don’t really know why though
Just did this fight and I was crying lol
I miss doing pandemonium raids but its so stressful
@Phoenix bit of both
Themis boss model gives me major Scam mobile MMO boss feel, that all items are legendaries and has a very misleading trailer when compared to actual gameplay 😂
I figured we'd have to fight Elidibus as either the final boss or second to last, it was going to be him and Athena in either of those spots.
Still got a little choked up when the cutscene starts and I immediately hear a remix of 'Neath Dark Waters/To The Edge.
The sound effects are too quiet. Can't really hear his voice over the music. :(
Voice volume too low
英語版こんな声なんだなぁ……
やっぱり石田彰しか勝たん
zamn
Voice is recorded at very low volume.
Thank you for uploading, but you should probably turn off voice volume before recording music...
Nah, I like the voices, should be louder.
Was looking for this comment lmao
It's really no biggie, since Uvi has a proper version that's BGM only, and the video can instead have value in being a raid showcase/recap.
But it is a little strange and misleading since the title implies it'll just be the BGM, and all the other videos on the channel seem to have been done properly lol
I like everything but the wing design. The tops are too smoothly rounded.
