LEGO Lion Knights' Castle 10305 REVIEW - Is it a masterpiece?
Вставка

- Lego's Lion Knights' Castle is here. It's the largest castle they have ever released, and combines elements from many of their earlier efforts - a hinged design, an elevated entrance that allows for a working drawbridge, and 22 minifigures (including the skeleton). Is it worth Lego's high asking price? You'll have to decide for yourself, but watch the review to see what I think.

It's always fun seeing someone, regardless of age, nerd out over something like this lol and rightfully so cause this set is super cool from top to bottom. It's crazy how someone could make something this beautifully designed and detailed using only lego bricks and have it feel so natural. I love every detail on this set, but my personal favorite has to be that "brown" frog and it is especially entertaining when you read what the instructions manual has to say about it.
As someone who still has the 6080 Castle, a 6086 Castle, and the 6090, I feel almost obligated to get this set. My oldest friend saw the 10305 at a Lego store and immediately sent me a picture. Now how do I hide this one from the wife? haha!
Baby this isn’t a new set, I just put together a lot of parts that I had laying around, how do you think it turned out?
Seriously though, if you’re a castle fan then this is an amazing set, still my favorite!
Thank God someone actually called it a PARSNIP!!! Every review I've seen on this set calls it a 'white carrot' 🤣
😂
The amount of detail on this build is actually insane.
this absolutely sold me on the set, so much detail and nostalgia put into this its hard to pass up
Thank you for watching! I’m totally not writing this message while driving, I promise
Big fan of this one and the Castle in the Forest sets. I think they're the 2 best castle sets of all time, and I say this as someone who grew up with the 80's/90's sets.
The playability features, open-up design, and details are just insane. Love em.
I really love this set. I got a really good deal on it one year back (I think 30% off). It's expensive, but if someone really likes castle, this is a must have. Played around with all the old castles, and none of them come close to this, not even the Black Knights Castle. We now just need the minifigs for all the factions.
Nice find! 30% off is great, I’m jealous
@@mattmakesthings Tha'ts why I got more than 1! I love the set and I have a sinking suspicion we're not getting more (outside the Brickling program - I hate that and the castles there, while better than nothing are never going to be at the level of this thing - especially price / piece wise and they will lack LEGO quality control)
3 videos and already one of my favourite UA-camrs
Thank you, it means a lot!
Woah I thought you had 10k subs, seriously underrated channel
Thank you, hopefully one day!
I'm not kidding your my new favorite youtuber I've subed liked and rung the notification bell and I'm gonna recommend you to may friends. Your awesome keep posting 😊👍👍👍
That means a lot, thank you and thanks for watching!
There is some really really strong MOC designs for the x3 3-in-1 castle. That I would consider nearly as good as this castle. Unfortunately nothing will beat the mini figure selection however, it’s so good.
I agree, designers have done some amazing things with the 3-in-1 castle. Do you have a favorite?
Fantastic video. Thank you and congrats on building/finishing this LEGO Castle set. :D
Thank you!
New channel, but already one of the best! The humor sets it apart
Thanks so much, I appreciate it!
I totally agree with you. I subscribed in a heartbeat.
I can't wait to get this set, it looks absolutely incredible. I love your enthusiasm for it!
I hope you enjoy building it as much as I did!
Great review! Thanks!!
Thanks for watching!
Great review Matt 😁👍🏼 New subscriber number 844 all the way from Australia 🇦🇺 keep up the vids bro
Thanks so much for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
This is just such an amazing set it’s insane
It really is, the designers earned their pay on this one.
WOWWWWWWW that is an incredible castle!!! Great video too! 😀
Thank you!
It was surely worth it. This is genius design, its not only honouring old theme of LEGO, it honours the way sets were build back in the days. Clever usage of small bricks is the power of LEGO designs and guys who created that caslte are magicians. This set is MUST HAVE. You can see love put into it.
I completely agree, this was the most interesting and fun set that I've built.
Nice review! Keep with good work!
Thank you!
Thanks for this review, I really enjoyed it. I found your channel recently and I left you a like and a follow. Can't wait to see you content from you. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Europe
Big LEGO fan from Taiwan, and also into Castle series, yet, for this series, I only have a fewe horses and couple Knights figures, hope that there're some castle sets with discount price in the future 😳😳😳🤓🤓🤓🤓💯🔥
“Brown frog factory” 😂😂
You should try some lego friends set! Beach amusement park is such a nice set to start with
I have an allergic reaction when I see minidolls, but…maybe. There have been some great friends sets to come out in the last couple years!
I must be old cuz the 1980's version is massive in my brain
I’m sure they seemed massive when you were 10-13! I bet they’re comparable to the 3-in-1 castle now.
I've just watched this video and I've subscribed directly. Would you consider making reviews of old Lego castle sets?
I definitely would if I had them! I had a couple when I was a kid, but unfortunately I think those are long gone. Thank you for subscribing, I hope you like the other videos as well!
It’s amazing
I want this set so badly! I have no more room on the shelfs though!
It is
Awesome review
Thanks!
Great video
Thank you!
Do you plan on picking up this new Lego castle? Why or why not?
I went for the 400 one but an important thing to note about the 100 dollar 3-in-1 castle: There are a lot of MOCs if you buy 2 or 3 of those, so people that don‘t have the money atm can expand later.
So true! The 3-in-1 is a great set.
Its LEGO at its best and greatest release. First set bought in about 25 years because of how well done it is
Agreeed mate. I understand the concerns with the price but come on, over 4 thousand pieces and tbh, this is the best castle Lego has ever released; I’m glad I’ve never gotten a lego castle until now
@@drucejnr I never once complained about the price so maybe this comment was mis placed, but as much as it is, and I only making about 12 an hour, still bought it, with little hesitation because of how awesome it is. In terms of cost, it is huge, and last forever, so there is a lot of resale and heirloom value. Its the dream castle I always wanted as a child so hope to provide that someday for others, or just the inner one in me. Super Glad we both found out about it, i was redrawn to LEGO at this time in a meaningful way.
Some people really struggle with the price and it's an expensive set compared to the castles of old, but you're both so right in my opinion--I've been looking at this castle in my living room for a week or two now and it's really just amazing. I love Star Wars sets too, and this castle is a better value than any of them. And if you run the prices of those early castles through an inflation calculator, Lion Knights' is a comparative bargain.
@@mattmakesthings Its one set they did right to be generous on minis, and made a fantastic selection! this is nothing like old LEGO castle that was pretty much only military minis and maybe a princess. It makes for so much more adventure and story telling.... I just hope LEGO has some more sets available soon that compliment its scale and detail. I think its the overall greatest set LEGO has made in terms of balanced coolness, universality, fun to be had, and sheer beauty of it.
@@jacobe1942 Yeah sorry mate, just more so other Lego content creators creating clickbait videos about the price of this set but I agree with every one of your statements.
As a kid growing up I did nothing but gawk over the castles of the 90s in the Lego catalogues but my parents weren't fortunate enough to afford any. This castle however has definitely scratched that childhood itch because this is hands down this best Lego castle to date.
I would really like to know more about the scandal 😂
🔥🔥
I think for the price they could've made a much better ramp leading to the draw bridge, give majisto a printed torso and add 2-3 more character or a small side build. The price per piece is not too bad, but it's a lot of really small pieces and the price for the weight is just downright bad.
I definitely agree about some printing on majisto, he feels a little generic among the other figures. What changes would you have made to the ramp to improve it?
@@mattmakesthings The ramp could've taken the form of a small fortified tower and instead of just slopes where minifigures can't stand it could've been a more intricate path with places to put minifigures. My main issue with the set is that it cost 400$ us, but it only weight 6kg, compared to Barracuda bay for example which weight 4.4kg for only 200$, the castle is great, but it clearly doesn't have double the value even when accounting for the price increase or the fact that the Bay was incredible value for the money. I don't have an issue with the price tag, but the lack of value for the price only means that I'm waiting till a decent gift with purchase or a double vip points day to buy it instead of buying it on day 1. I need to make up that missing 50$ somehow.
Masterpiece is too high praise but certainly it is one of the best lego sets available and obviously the best castle but it could have been better especially for the high price but it is a great build and looks fantastic as a display piece as well as being fun from a playability point of view, even though I don't think too many kids will be getting this set! Overall in my opinion despite the high price it is a must buy if you love lego or castles or both
Out of curiosity, what would you recommend to consider this to be a masterpiece?
@@MajimaGoro8 you can always improve on things that is why I don't give out the masterpiece praise often if ever, this set is very close but could be improved or added to in terms of scale or minifigures to truly make it next level but as I said it is a must buy as it currently stands
I sub from the first videoe your review videoes are realy good I just got my self the LEGO Castle Forest Hideout Promo Set 40567. and I hope to blackfriday this set woud drop in price so that I can hoprfuley get it cheaper its a realy buatiful set a masterpiece
I hope you're right about it going on sale, thank you for watching!
The lady figurine does not have white hair, her hair is covered by a cloth. Thanks for the episode.
I’d never have guessed that, thank you for letting me know!
No problem, I love learning about the middle ages.@@mattmakesthings
Best Set ever made in my opinion
I agree, my favorite ever so far
1:40 or one day 😬 Still recovering
I had to replace the portcullis rod with an axle because it was catching a bit
Ha that must have been a marathon day, I'm a wuss.
Ha no my friend is still building his from a month ago 😂
I am completely non educated on the topic of pricing legos, but I am a consumer and I would probably want to pay like 300-350$ for this.
I could totally see that. To people who regularly buy Lego sets, their in-house themes are usually seen as a pretty fair value - especially compared to licensed properties like Star Wars which typically are much more expensive when you compare price per piece. But there’s no way around it, $400 is a lot to spend on a Lego set.
YOU COULD MAKE MORE CASTLE REVIEW
Definitely wouldn't mind picking up the 3-in-1 castle
U forgot to talk about the secret room in the middle
You're totally right! It's one of my favorite rooms, though unfortunately tough to see in the finished build unless you're looking for it. For anyone reading, the Forest Guardian hideout is stealthily hidden under the castle on the residential side and includes a table, map, weapons, and another of the great little target pieces found in the gift with purchase Forest Hideout.
DUDE. You’re so good at this, keep going! Selfishly, I think you’d dig our weekly show as we have a similar sense of humor :)
Thanks so much, I appreciate that and will check out the show!
I just cant get passed the price.
That’s fair, $400 is a pricy set no matter how good it is. If you want a similar build experience for under half the price, I’m working on a review of the A-frame cabin and that set is also great.
I wouldn't break the bank for one, but if it meant saving longer and passing up other sets this to me is the best set ever made.
Add a throne hall and a wizard tower and I will call that a masterpiece. As of now the castle is nothing but a grandiose living quarter for the knight's wife and his children (and some forestmen, Parasite style).
Oh man I would love to have seen a wizard tower and throne hall. Especially the wizard tower-I feel like the dining room is halfway toward a throne hall already.
@@mattmakesthings Lego should consider several mod packages that transform this caslte.... I cant wait so am doing it on my own
Great video even though you said amazing 10 times
I need to open up a thesaurus while doing some of these reviews
I ok love your review and content! Liked and follow 🥹🥰
