- The BEST Daily Trainer Of 2022?? (Novablast 3) - welcome back to another video and today I am talking all about how the asics novablast 3 performed on its speed test and quite simple, is this the best daily trainer of 2022?? I didn't have any moderate running planned this week so I threw the asics novablast 3 in at the deepend and gave it a chance on my morning sub threshold double day workout. I do wonder if there is anything the asics novablast 3 can't do....
Have you had a chance to test the asics novablast 3 yet at a range of paces?

Keep it up! Good videos!
I also bought the hyperion twice! :)
Cheers
Thanks! Yes I did do, love them!
Sounds great andy thanks just retired my 2s injured currently but will buy them for long runs when they get discounted
Fingers crossed for a speed return to running for you!
Tested FFB+ on Nimbus and hands down, my #1 shoe.... Novablast wasn't available, I just couldn't wait... Love these....
You steered me towards the original novablast in early 2020 so will take your word. Looks promising.
💪💪
Was not a fan of the NB2, but the three is outstanding! It truly is an all time great shoe for me already! Comfortable, fast, light, good looking… I haven’t liked a ASICS shoe in like 10 years. Great shoe!
Hi Andy received my Novablast 3s today first impressions were how light they felt out of the box. Went for a very light jog only my third for three months after injury. I can now see why you were very excited about this shoe superb comfort and bounce and i found it very hard not to push the pace. I went true to size in this model after going a half size down in the previous shoe and it fits beautifully . I hope this helps someone else thanks Andy for an excellent review.
Ah fantastic mate great news! I have to say they’re dangerous aren’t they, they really make you move!!
Seems like a good shoe. I agree with you that the Hyperion Tempo is also my favorite speed shoe as well.
💪
Doing a long run in them Monday . Did 2 runs in them so far actually do get along with them . Did some cadence training in these aswell I quite like these. However!!! For short tempo stuff I prefer the.mach 5 just such a great turnover speed
Took the novablast v3 out for a run the other day. I still have access to v1 and v2 in my collection and use these regularly. The weight saving is really noticeable! I wear a size 8 in v1 and v2 which are perfect for me(sized down from an 8.5) but the v3 don't run as large so the 8 is a little tight for me.... Oh and COYS!
Yeah you can really notice the difference can’t you!! COYS 🔵 ⚪️
I watched this just before running parkrun in them. They were still great running at just below my top end 5k pace as I was meant to be taking it easier… legs felt great during and after.
Brilliant!
Hmm, I do like the Hyperion tempo so may check this out as well. Think it is available next week here in Australia.
Yeah it’s definitely a good option to have, not quite as light but it’ll do a good job at filling its shoes, literally!
First run in them and they felt superb, also love the colourway.
Epic mate!! Great news 🔥
@@TheFODRunner did you see Kofuzi put you as charity runner of the week on Twitter mate? A merited title.
Yes buddy I was so grateful! What a guy 👏
First run in mine this morning.
They feel perfect in every way, fit feel and performance.
💯
Did you buy your actual size or went for a half size up or down?
I went my actual size
Have now seen a lot of reviews of this one so well done for being the first to give a truly unbiased opinion although most people including you seem to be suggesting it is the best thing since sliced bread. That said am struggling with this shoe. Done 2 runs in it now and just feels I have a huge amount of foam under me that whilst isn’t firm just am struggling to get going and I am sinking a little bit with less flex in the toe box than I like. It could be a bit like the Hyperion Tempo it is just a bit too wide for me as found in the previous two Novablast. Have had to pull in the laces a huge amount. The length seems the same as before and interestingly the insoles are 32.5 cm in our size which is 0.5 cm more than we get in any other shoe in a UK 13/US 14. That said going down to a 12 I feel would then be too short if a little narrower. Also oddly I found the grip fine and both my runs so far have been on wet or at least damp roads and yesterday I went down a steep off road bit both on gravel and Tarmac and no slips. Maybe the wide base helps there.
I saw your run descriptions and UA-cam post, I was gutted 😞 I was really hoping you’d love them but then like you said, you did struggle with the previous versions a bit. Have you put a review up yet? If so I must watch it!
@@TheFODRunner not yet. Will try to film one today. Did not think much point doing a first run review which seems increasingly common now before giving it a bit more time when was unsure about it.
@@TimGrose looking forward to your video 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I had to size down. I have narrow feet but never felt gliding around sideways in an 8.5 before. Went down to 8 and its good now but still wider than normal 8.5s even though i sized down lol. Its pretty long so dont worry about the toe box if you go down a size.
@@ZenDao_85 I would have to go down a full size to a UK 12 as they don’t do a 12.5 but might be worth a try as feel the 13 is 0.5 longer and indeed the insole is longer than it normally is in my size. Can’t send my current ones back now so that is going to be an expensive experiment for a shoe that does not excite me massively anyway.
Not sure about what’s on that tee shirt pal😀good to hear your thoughts on the v3 I liked the v1 skipped v2 as looked samey I’ll pick up the 3 now😃
Only the best football team in London buddy 💪😂
@@TheFODRunner glad I’m not a footy fan tbh
I have to say wasn' t blown away by it. Pretty soft but wasn' t feeling much bounce or response at all. It' s super comfortable though:)
No?? I must admit when I picked up the pace they really came to life for me!
I was going to get the Novablast 2 but after really mixed reports about sizing and the fact that I couldn't find a retail shop anywhere that stock them to check out, I gave up. Hope these are more evident in shops this time round or at least the sizing is more consistently reported.
🤞🤞
Hi Andy, I have enough shoes in my collection. May get the Novablast V3 when I retire one of my daily runners. For speed sessions, I usually use the Nike tempo next% (£72) or Puma Liberate nitro (£43). have you tried these? how do they compare to the novablast v3?
Yes tried both buddy, liberate is very much what feels like an old school racing flat with a bit more cushion and sponge… the tempo next% I never got on with sadly, really hated it 😂 novablast is more cushioned than the liberate… more bounce!
I ordered this shoe almost 2 months ago. They are having some serious production issues here in the states. They said it should be here within sometime this month.
I hope you get it sooner rather than later!!
Yep, no surprises here! Just wondering about the breathability pls Andy, esp. compared to the V1?? Thanks
I actually think with the little holes in the v1 upper the breathability is probably slightly better in that version… this one isn’t bad but there’s no little ventilation holes…having said that my feet didn’t get hot at all 🤷♂️
@@TheFODRunner 👍🏻 thanks Andy!!
I really, really should wear through some of my current shoes first, but boy am I itching to get my hands on the Novablast 3 🙈
Haha I’m the same, I’ve got others to use but I just couldn’t resist
@@TheFODRunner so relatable… 😂
Hi
Thanks for the great review
I am currently using the Endorphin speed 3 for tempo/ interval work and was looking for a daily trainer that I can do long marathon training runs in. I ordered the streakfly to use for the speed work an was going to move the speed 3 to use more for my long runs , I just love how light, fast and cushioned they feel. Could the Novoblast 3 fill that role as well? I have tried other daily trainers like the invincible, triumph 20, ghost etc.. and they just feel so heavy to me. Thanks!
Yes they definitely could! They’d tick that box!
Long lives the king. No pun intended 😂
Yeah the grip on wet roads with leaves is not the best but apart from that the best shoe!
Yep! We can let that issue go though, pretend it’s not there 😉
On behalf of my British friend who made me a Tottenham fan, COYS! I've put almost 900 miles on the first Novablasts (and they're still going strong) and would love to get v3, but I still find it hard to pay more than $100 for running shoes.
COYS!! yeah the novablasts go on and on and on, they’ll last for ages!
Hi Andy, great review again, just wondering how you would compare the Novablast 3 to the Saucony ride 15 as a top daily trainer, thanks.
Both amazing mate, love them both for different reasons… prefer the novablast overall but the ride is top quality… the ride is firmer but super light weight and you can really move in them…. The novablast is a bit heavier but super cushioned and bouncy and so fun!
2:18 if we take out the shaking it legit feels like somebody is on a bike, not a runner. you are crazy fast
Haha thank you 🙏
Agreed about the grip. I did feel as if the traction was lacking a little when running on damp/moist surfaces. Still a cracking shoe.
Yeah a slight downside to it but I’m happy to overlook it 😂
I have been running for the last 2 years with the Hyperion Tempo and I love them ! Should I switch for the Novablast 3 ?? 😊
I think the novablast 3 is a good replacement…. The tempo is lighter and I think slightly has the edge when it comes to longer MP workouts but overall they’re pretty close
Thank you for this analysis. do you think it can be suitable for a marathon in 4h30? (73 kg male)
For me, I had no issues being in the shoe for over 2 hours and I’m 86kg, I would feel comfortable trying to run in them for 4 1/2 hours 👌
@@TheFODRunner top more stability than monster ?
Haven’t tried the monster sadly 😞
Nice shirt COYS
🔵⚪️COYS
How does the novablast3 compare to the ride 15
Novablast 3 is softer and bouncier, ride 15 is firmer but lighter so you end up loving fast in both shoes! Just different ends of the spectrum in terms of squishiness! Ride upper is more breathable
How are these for treadmill running
I’ve used them a couple of times on my treadmill and they were fine 👍
which one do you think it is better, novablast 3 or endorphin speed 3?
I haven’t tried the speed 3 sadly!
Hi wanna asking..Better novablast 3 or zoom fly 5??
Novablast 3 for easy/moderate running, zoom fly more efficient for longer workouts like marathon workouts
If i run daily for 5k in 5-6 pace better novablast 3?
Yes 💯
@@TheFODRunner thx Sir
COYS
🔵⚪️
how this compare to mach 5
and ride 15 please
@@gudboyngdisyerto I have ride 15 which is a great shoe but the nova 3 feels a lot lot better underfoot.
novablast 3 is better but you might like mach 5 more for controlled ride, novablast is a bit wild
I haven’t tried the Mach 5 sorry! But if it’s like the Mach 4 then the Mach is more stable but less bouncy, the novablast is bouncier, softer and a bit more exciting!
Ride 15 is a brilliant shoe but lower stack height, foam is a bit firmer in the ride as well. I do love the ride 15 though, fantastic shoe!
8 mm drop :(
not for me .... shame.... they re so beautiful !!!
- not true to size, a bit long (order 1/2 size smaller?)
- not the lightest option (maybe I'm being a weight weenie?)
- not the best tracking on wet surfaces (I might not be running through any snow/ice at all this winter)
I'm leaning more towards the Mach 5 here, dispite the rumors on their questionable durability. Going by the all the reviews, I'm expecting more stability from the Mach 5, a more breathable upper, less stack in the heel,...I'm still on the fence about the amount of cusioning/dampening and the lousy price/durability ratio...
You’ll get more stability with the Mach 5 for sure and I can agree the grip in wet is a bit sketchy… the weight loss in the novablast 3 is massive compared to previous versions but it’s heavier than the Mach 5 yes…
I took out my pair for a test run but farted only not only did I fart but poo came out… So my test run was non-conclusive
Sounds like a messy run….
Yeah it was, but now to think about it, it would make a great speed day shoe as my sprint home (for obvious reasons) was 2:45min/km pace and the nb3 felt perfect at those paces 👍🏿
