anybody else watch her vids but barely do nail art at all? The closest thing I did was use a dotting tool! I just think they're soooo satisfying to watch!
You should really try some of it. I had a great time doing first time nail stamping today. It looked really complicated and I put off doing it but it was easy and really fun. And none of the stuff is really expensive. I’m a nurse and work all the time, recently divorced with a 17 year old son. Hard part for me is finding the time. But I loved the way it turned out. I love doing fun stuff with my nails and my patients enjoy seeing them.
I screamed with joy when this showed up in my notifications. I love doing gradients, but I've only been like...super successful and pleased with about one or two blends. This video is a blessing.
Returning to nail art after a 20-year hiatus (hello!) Your video is extremely informative. You are very easy on the eyes with a great smile and perfect white teeth. You are a natural at your videos. Your speech is virtually flawless and very clear. Keep up the great channel. Quality information is key.
After I watched this video, on my nails I did a gradient of white to blue and it turned out awesome. I love you and your videos ❤. You have the best nail art youtube channel
I'm new to nail art and im really loving it. I have watched so many videos on UA-cam and have found ur to be the best so thank you for all the information. Im going to try the ombre tomorrow using the info you said which really helped. Xx
I love your videos. Yeah I started with hombres. Several years ago. Love them. Easy to do. I’ve been watching your nail stamping vids. Intrigued. So, today I did my very first nail stamping. Followed your directions, got clear jelly stamper, washed it with dish soap, got plates. Love laces and butterflies, so went with that. Came out great. I had put it off for a long time because it sounded so complicated. It was really easy did pale pink background and used black polish for the stamping. Loved it. Thanks a lot for these tutorials.
Hi Kelli, I like your nail polish & nail art 101 series. YEAH, let's talk clouds! I guess I love clouds too. I like to bike ride 6-12 miles for fun and exercise. The #1 thing I will stop my ride to photograph is the sky, and clouds are usually a major part of that beauty. As a kid I thought the best job to have would be to be the architect who colors the sky! I have always been awed by the changing sky environment. Thanks for sharing what you enjoy with all of us. I hope you have a wonderful new year 2021!
+Ciara Pershall oh my gosh thank you so much Ciara! That honestly means so much to me. I really did put a lot into this one because I really wanted it to be comprehensive. I'm so glad it shows :) :)
Hi Kelli, thank you for this video. I discovered and subscribed to your channel about 6 weeks ago. You've renewed my interest in nail art after a few decades! I used to do it with fine silver tape, diamantes, flowers and leaves hand painted using poster paint, sometimes with a diamante as the flower centre. But now I LOVE the gradients - my new favourite. So elegant. I'm getting better each time... My favourite is the black fade to blue. Love using glitter too. Your swatch videos are also excellent. I'm having fun learning and trying your techniques. Thank you and greetings from Sydney, Australia. Barbara
Hi Barbara! I'm so happy you've found me and that you're back into nail art - I truly think it's the best hobby ever 😄 and gradients are just so much fun to create! Next you'll have to try doing a little floral nail art over a gradient hehe ❤️
@@KelliMarissa Thanks Kelli, I might try that, it didn't occur to me to combine both. I like having a feature nail on each hand, even if it's only something as simple as a full topcoat of glitter over my main colour. (Currently having an enforced rest as I wait for a couple of breaks to grow back!).
LOL! You crack me up with the cloud fun fact! Then again, with your love of all-things-galaxy, I'm not surprised! Please keep these nail polish 101 tutorials coming!
I just found your channel from the 25sweetpeas blog. She listed you in her top 5 nail youtube channels. This video is so helpful. I have done my own acrylic nails for years, but I am just getting into nail art. I want to do a gradient of orange and yellow and stamp a monarch butterfly on it and this will definitely help me. You have the best personality and your eye shadow is gorgeous!!
+HavenLily hey, yeah I saw that! I was so honored to be on her list :) but I'm so glad you found me! I hope this video helps you out with your gradient, you'll have to let me know how it goes! And thank you so much :)
Kelli--thank so much for the thorough ombre nail art video. I had so many of my questions answered and found your video to be extra helpful. Also, the fun facts you give are great. I enjoy taking pictures of sunsets with cloud formations. They are awesome. Keep up the great videos!💅
I have finally found how to do fab nails! I'm sooo off to get all the supplies tomorrow, liquid latex already ordered online! Thanks Kelli, can't wait to watch more of your vids x
Thank you so much! Your 101 videos are the reason I originally found your channel and I'm so glad I did 😄 Maybe you should do a cloud manicure some how?
Wow, this is an amazing video. Thank you for redoing it. So much great information in this video and new information on how to do it the right way. Thank you, you're awesome.
Can't believe I missed this video 😱 Thanks for doing this one , I always struggle doing gradient , this was great as you really broke it Down. Loving your choker ❤️ Fun facts are so funny ! Lol 😂
Love your videos. Thank you. Question: would you say all these same principles apply to gel nail polish? Also, do you know if the latex can go under LED/UV light? Thank you😍🧡🤗
To be honest, I don't know the answer to either :( I'm not very well versed in gels, still a beginner with them and I don't know how latex might react with led/UV!
@Kelli Marissa you are too funny - and cute as a button! I think I watch your videos for your personality as much as for the nail art tips! I started doing nail art 2 or 3 years ago and probably have done gradients dozens of times - and I picked up some useful tips from this video! (I don't think I've been fully saturating the sponge, for one.). And white to black *is* challenging - funny enough I think that was one of the first gradients I ever did. keep up the good work, young lady!
+Not A Papaya haha can I say I love your username?? I am glad you clarified you're not a papaya because honestly I wasn't sure from the comment! It sounded very papaya-like. LOL. Anyway, I'm so glad you enjoy my videos! I'm definitely going to tackle a black and white gradient again, I don't remember why it's always failed in the past for me!
I had to pause the video and tell you that I think you're hilarious. I'm cracking up I love your goofy side!!! Your hair looks great! Ok brb going to finish watching You explained it very good. I have a tip for anyone who wants to get you a gift and they don't know what to buy.... They can get you a bunch of sponges!!!! You'll be entertained for hours!! 😂😂 I love you so much Kelli. You're so awesome XOXO's
+Luanne Santos LOL I love the live commentary! Hahaha thank you so much, and omg you have no idea, I always have to be holding/playing with something, I am so fidgety! Anyway love ya girl, I'm so glad you liked the video!
This is so in-depth! I love it. I already knew this but mostly from trial and error on my own or some blog tutorials. This is great for someone who doesn't have a clue how to do any of this. Question: do you have video tutorial on how you get your latex from the jar to a nail polish bottle?
you just solved my problem and gave me confidence to try again - I was getting so frustrated! Had bits of sponge coming off onto my nail and was pulling polish off the nail...apparently I was not saturating my sponge enough or refilling it often enough and I suspect also was not waiting till one coat was dry before going back over it - in short, pretty much doing it all wrong.
Learned so much from you. Keep the great videos coming our way. Can you tell me the polishes behind you on the first shelf that look neon? I'm loving them.
My room was painted light sky blue with white clouds sponged on my whole life. Like from 12 until 2012 when my house got sold so 15 years and i LOVED it! I just noticed you live in GA. I live in SC so we live pretty close! Im from Charleston, but live in Florence now. Thats awesome. 💙💜💙💜
Thank you for the great video. With the process be the same to do the gradient with gel polish? Do you think it makes a difference if you get the sponge wet and squeeze out most of the water?
Hi Kelly, Love your Videos, you are so full of positive vibes and so so bubbly and natural. Waiting to see your room tour and your filming set up. Please do give us some tips on how you film your videos? Take care.
Love this video! And your shirt is way kewl too! I love gradients. Thank you for doing this video, it was very informative, as your videos always are. You're the best Kelli! 💅💅🌈💋💖💕
I'm so glad that you did this more in depth ombre/gradient video. I need to google a color wheel image so that I don't make any mistakes on which colors go together...haha!
+Kelli Marissa Indeed because some colors are pretty alone, but would not work at all for a gradient...lol! Like your example of green to red for Christmas! Browns are nice for nail looks, but wouldn't be so good with those colors...hahaha! Oh and I forgot to mention before that I too love clouds; they are very cool to look at and take pictures of! :D
btw you did a video about the dry brush technique (i think i spelled that wrong😂) but i really liked it but every time i do it, it just looks weird.. maybe you could do a video about that?
I wish I could be good at gradients lol I've tried them a couple times cuz your videos inspire me a lot. Hopefully the info from this vid will help me out lol Thanks Kelli!
Kelli, this video is so detailed and I love it. I attempted my first ombre. I think it's ok, but there's always "first times" for anything new. I'll keep working on it. I used OPI - Do You Sea What I Sea and Essie - In the Cab-Ana on a base of OPI Alpine Snow. Would love your feedback... but don't know how to send you a picture 😕. Thanks, you make polishing my nails fun. 💅
Yay! you have a new subbie! I used to be so into nails. But now I am a nurse and I am not allowed to have my naild paint but I really enjoy doing my nails on my days off. I really like your personality and your 101 videos! keep up with the good and hard work!😘 If you don't have already a video about it, could you do one on how to remove glitter nailpolish without having to scrub like 10 minutes per nail? 😭🤤 I wish you a nice weekend. Greets from Switzerland!🇨🇭🙋♀️
+Cheyenne Aguirre hey Cheyenne! Welcome to my channel :) :) I'm sorry to hear you're not allowed to have painted nails at work but I guess that makes sense for a hygienic environment, haha! Anyway, I do actually have a video on some easy tricks for removing glitter nail polish, I think you'll find it pretty helpful! :) let me know if you have any other requests tho!!!
The artsy terms to describe what you mean about colors would be that complementary colors (like blue+orange, green+red) are on opposite sides so they make brown, but analogous colors (green, bluegreen) are more similar and blend together! Lol either way i'm one those people who save my lightly used make up sponges just for nail gradients and trim off the dry parts, but next time I'll have to try the flat edge. (love your videos)
Very helpful video Kelli! 🌈💕🎨😘💜☁⛅ I 💜Clouds too. My favorite are the Cumulonimbus clouds. (The tall puffy sick lookin ones). And thanks for rerecording haha. 😝
+Debra Quenqua ooh yes I did a video on that a while back but it was a sponsored one and I think that upset a lot of people LOL so I really should do another!
Your "bad gradient" examples are what I wish my best gradients could ever look like 😂 I always say that I want to bounce on the big fluffy clouds, if I wouldn't fall through and plummet to my death.
+ninegreydaisies haha funny you say that because I really meant to upload this last week! Lol. Well anyway I'm glad I could help you for the future!! :P
Hi! Thanks for all the tips, they are grate!!! I wanted to know if you let the layers drie after applying the next or you just do it righ away. Thanks!!!
Omg I just "discovered" you during our power outage from hurricane Irma. Couldn't watch tv so I found you! I'm now obsessed! You're so cute! You've made me want to try all your methods AND organize my polishes! I'm a polish hoarder but I never paint them. True story! They start peeling as soon as I remove the polish. But I keep buying polish anyway! HELP!!! (I'm 55. You're teaching an old dog new tricks!)
+CUCrazy haha! I'm so glad you found me :P welcome to my channel! I know that you'll start to love painting your nails - you should check out the rest of my Nail Polish 101 playlist, I've got a video about how to keep your nails strong!!
I have now ordered the Rejuvacote 2, latex, dehydrator, and 3 of the glass nail files! Heading out the Sally tomorrow (which is actually today!) for some other supplies! Can't wait to start having some fun! Gonna try my hand at creating a "game day" nail art look! You're awesome!
Excellent video! 👍🏻 I don't like cosmetic sponges for gradients. I just don't have any luck using them. I use those round black/white sponges. I ordered them with a dabber from AliExpress. They have have a few perks! If you're super thrifty you can dip them in acetone and clean them off on paper towel and use them again. If you're less thrifty, you can use one side, then flip over and use the other, even after the polish dries. I find they use less polish and give more colour payoff. I only use sponges for glitter tips, since they absorb the base, they work better for that. I am totally going to get the jar latex tho. Much better deal! 😅
Super old video, but yes, the cloud formations in NYC/NJ are really special, it also has better sunrises and sunsets than further south. I thought that I was just romanticizing the sky there, because I'm from Staten Island and I miss it, but when I was visiting my sister last summer, I realized that I wasn't. The skies literally are just that beautiful there, and the trees are taller and more lush here.
Thanks for all the tips! I've found kitchen sponges are good for applying glitter, but it does leave horrid results for gradients. I like looking at shapes in clouds, I think it's fun
I'm glad I subscribed! You are so funny and I love your tips, also btw I love clouds too & I'm also from NJ originally,Lawrenceville to be exact and I miss cloud watching(which is not dumb) your videos are awesome!🤘☁💖😊
+Curly 609 haha hey I'm glad you subscribed too! And I swear the clouds here in Georgia are so much prettier :P but maybe it's just that I never appreciated them before when I was in NJ!
I also live in ga and love clouds (anything to do with the sky really)💕 and where I live in stone mountain there are some really gorgeous sunsets oh my😍 also, I just subscribed to your channel. Your videos are very informative and helpful so thank you!!😊💕
+Cassie Hall oh man yes I've visited Stone Mountain and seen such pretty clouds/sunsets!! And welcome to my channel, Cassie :) I'm so happy you like it so far!
How and where you store your liquid latex to keep it liquid ? Does it dru when its cold or too hot? If i dont use a lot, does it stay good long? Thanks
anybody else watch her vids but barely do nail art at all? The closest thing I did was use a dotting tool! I just think they're soooo satisfying to watch!
+Zaina_1124! LOL! You're not the only one who has told me that, I'm so happy you enjoy them :)
That and spend waaay too much on it all and then never get the motivation, time or confidence to actually do it lol . It seems to never get used much
You should really try some of it.
I love that you have short nails and still do all these videos.
Kellie, thanks for taking the time to do this tutorial for us. Love all the 101 series. This one will help me.
+Carol Klans-Cerda I'm so glad you found it helpful Carol! :)
Thanks for all the tips, these will definitely help me because last time I tried an ombré mani it was a fail 😂❤️💅🏻
+Family Speak aw man well I know you can do it!! You gotta try again :P
I screamed with joy when this showed up in my notifications. I love doing gradients, but I've only been like...super successful and pleased with about one or two blends. This video is a blessing.
+Ashley Collier haha! Well I'm really happy you found it useful Ashley! :)

Oh wow thank you so much for the kind words Jacq. I'm glad you found my channel :)
Who else loves her nail polish shelf I know I do
+Jenny Dao haha thanks Jenny! My bf made it for me! :)
I wanted to buy one like this till I heard it was custom made!!
Hi! I must say you have been so thorough in explaining how to do ombré nails! You explain step by step for us newbies!!! Thanks so much!!!
I'm so happy you found the video helpful!!
After I watched this video, on my nails I did a gradient of white to blue and it turned out awesome. I love you and your videos ❤. You have the best nail art youtube channel

+Mani Paws oh gosh thank you so much haha!
I'm new to nail art and im really loving it. I have watched so many videos on UA-cam and have found ur to be the best so thank you for all the information. Im going to try the ombre tomorrow using the info you said which really helped. Xx
Oh wow thanks so much Kelly! Hope it went well :)
I can't wait to try this out. You go into such detail and make it less intimidating.
"Started doing gradients and then got into other stuff"
Yeah. That's actually exactly correct😂😂
+Kaytlyn Jackson haha I knew it! As someone commented, gradients are the gateway nail art!
try the black and white gradient again. I can see it working with a grey blending color...maybe.
Katie Chase yes Kelli do it!!
+Katie Chase haha oh gosh I'll try it but it's surprisingly hard! I might need a few gray colors in between...
I have faith you can do it!
Do a white to black gradient
Hi Kelli, I like your nail polish & nail art 101 series.
YEAH, let's talk clouds!
I guess I love clouds too. I like to bike ride 6-12 miles for fun and exercise. The #1 thing I will stop my ride to photograph is the sky, and clouds are usually a major part of that beauty.

Thanks for sharing what you enjoy with all of us. I hope you have a wonderful new year 2021!
Hope your 2021 is going well too, Dominique!! ❤️
You did SO good on this video. I can tell you put a ton of work into it.
+Sandra Cadena I'm so glad you enjoyed it Sandra!!
Is there a reason you prefer pure acetone to your preferred nail polish remover?
For cleanup I prefer acetone since its quicker, but for removing the manicure on my actual nails I prefer regular remover!
Can't believe I missed this video 😱
Thanks for doing this one , I always struggle doing gradient , this was great as you really broke it Down.
Loving your choker ❤️
Fun facts are so funny ! Lol 😂

+Katie Lady haha thank you soooo much Katie!!
This is a very cool tutorial, thank you. Going to try today.
Love this video! A lot of helpful information. Can’t wait to try it. Can/should you put a top coat on your base before doing your gradient?
Hey Nicole! Skip the top coat until you've got the gradient finished - otherwise it'll keep the colors from fully blending!
Kelli Marissa thank you!

+SlutOverlord haha I'm glad someone got the reference! ❤️

Love this video! And your shirt is way kewl too! I love gradients. Thank you for doing this video, it was very informative, as your videos always are. You're the best Kelli! 💅💅🌈💋💖💕
+RonneeSue Scott thank you so much, I'm really happy you liked this one as I worked very hard on it :) :) :)
I'm so glad that you did this more in depth ombre/gradient video. I need to google a color wheel image so that I don't make any mistakes on which colors go together...haha!
+Frozen - Marvel there are def some exceptions but I would say the color wheel is the best way to decide your gradients!
yess!! loved this! really needed this😂
btw you did a video about the dry brush technique (i think i spelled that wrong😂) but i really liked it but every time i do it, it just looks weird.. maybe you could do a video about that?
+Isabel Wagener yay I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can definitely do a more comprehensive tutorial on dry brush manicures :) :)
Instantly added that latex to my cart 👍
It's soooo good
I wish I could be good at gradients lol I've tried them a couple times cuz your videos inspire me a lot. Hopefully the info from this vid will help me out lol Thanks Kelli!
+That Chic I know you can do it! :) I'm glad you found the video helpful :) :)
Thank you! :)
Love your look in this video! Great video with helpful tips.
Oh thank you so much 😄
Kelli, this video is so detailed and I love it.
I wish you a nice weekend.
Just doing a refresher course!
Good timing for all the summer gradients!!!
+remainingembers thanks for sharing your insight with us :P I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Very helpful video Kelli! 🌈💕🎨😘💜☁⛅ I 💜Clouds too. My favorite are the Cumulonimbus clouds. (The tall puffy sick lookin ones). And thanks for rerecording haha. 😝
+Erika S haha I love those ones too! But honestly I love them all :P I am always amazed by clouds no matter what, I'm so lame LOL!
Hey!! 🤗 Thanks for this video, it makes me want to try gradients! Have a nice day!! 😊
+Nemixtli I'm so glad you enjoyed it, you have to give gradients a try! :)
Great tutorial! can you explain how to do a circle gradient? some people call them radial ombre. thanks for sharing your hints!
+Debra Quenqua ooh yes I did a video on that a while back but it was a sponsored one and I think that upset a lot of people LOL so I really should do another!
Thanks so much this was super helpful! Ive tried gradient nails so many times and it never turned out good and now i see why!
I'm so glad I could help :)
Your "bad gradient" examples are what I wish my best gradients could ever look like 😂 I always say that I want to bounce on the big fluffy clouds, if I wouldn't fall through and plummet to my death.
Bah! I needed this video like a week ago! But now I know why my gradient started failing. This was super helpful!
+ninegreydaisies haha funny you say that because I really meant to upload this last week! Lol. Well anyway I'm glad I could help you for the future!! :P
I didn't know how I was going to paint my nails this week, I take your video as a sign that I need to do a gradient 😀😉
+eliciabonnie haha yes gradients are the perfect go-to nail art!
Hi! Thanks for all the tips, they are grate!!! I wanted to know if you let the layers drie after applying the next or you just do it righ away. Thanks!!!
+Tania Lara hey Tania, yes you want the layers to dry between coats :)
Kelli Marissa Thankss!! 😁
I love you're videos. they are so helpful.
+Yvette Torres thank you so much Yvette!!
Lol as I lay here perusing Amazon for latex!
Totally understand about clouds...no-one else seems to get my obsession until now!
+Tanya Van Stone thanks for sharing your tips with us, Tanya! You're gonna love the liquid latex too haha.
Hi Kelli! Loved this video! Would this technique work with gel nail polish?
I don't think so, unfortunately it's a different formula so it can't be sponged on!
This is sooo helpful, thank you!
Thanks for all the tips! I've found kitchen sponges are good for applying glitter, but it does leave horrid results for gradients. I like looking at shapes in clouds, I think it's fun
+Daniela Sarmiento ooh thanks for sharing Daniela! I love looking at all the different shapes of the clouds too :) :)
Well done, and great tips! 💅🏻💅🏻
+latybug427 thank you so much! :)
Thanks and Congratulations for these video.... I am from Perú and realy learn many tips.... TOP, TOP, TOP
Ooooh! I have been using colors that were too far apart to make it look good! I'll have to try again with closer colors. Thanks!
+Glamour N' Nail yay I'm so glad I could help! :)
I do a lot of nail art but can't master gradients, the paint always gets into my cuticles even if I use liquid latex -.-
I'm glad I subscribed!
This was super helpful! Thank you so much!!!
+SaucerJess yay I'm glad you liked t Jess!
What's the difference between a gradient and ombre?
It's the same! Ombre means gradient in French!
Kelli u should show a video on how to make like a ocean wave or something like that with out a stencil
+Ell Kovach okay! :)
How and where you store your liquid latex to keep it liquid ? Does it dru when its cold or too hot? If i dont use a lot, does it stay good long? Thanks
You crack me up and apparently yourself, too. Haha. Awesome tips, very helpful.
+Tee Emm hahaha! I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks I'm funny :P
