I find it heartbreaking that the Doctor only felt pain when he saw Rose, it's like he can bear the pain of dying, but seeing Rose knowing he can never see her again hurt more than dying.
what would've made me smile so much is if David said, "I bet your year will be fantastic" to Rose. to anyone who doesn't get it (the small amount of you) the doctor Rose met says it was fantastic when he regenerates
@Phil Stanton I think they did so Rose wouldn’t have remembered someone saying she would have a fantastic year. But it would have broke me even more, those last 30 minutes were some of the saddest I’ve ever seen in a show
@Phil Stanton very true. I definitely miss it alot more now. That was the golden era and compared to what we have now is just sad. I dont think Doctor Who is gonna last another 10 years on tv
@Phil Stanton yea current Who is travestie the dismantled the Doctors history, Gallifrey, and the Time Lords. The first Doctor is now a black female SMH. Dont forget Peter Capaldi he was great and I think he was the fourth best Doctor.
The question...will I ever be able to watch the end of this without bawling? The answer... I'm watching this in 2020, with tears streaming down my face, needing a tissue. So I'm going to go with no, no I will not...It will always bring tears.
DravenGal ive only seen clips of it on youtube never been able to really watch it as a full episode and even i still cried , and if that doesnt say alot about this show then i dont know what does
I remember when I was younger me and my dad would watch David Tennant before we went to bed and just doing that (I think it was every Friday) made me cry so hard when this happened
And it is true. David's tenure as the 10th Doctor may be over but he's still got the book/novels, Big Finish audio dramas (and he's still doing that now, his new audio drama with Billie Piper is coming few months later), and more :)
The exact opposite of River song where he would see river again after Forrest of the dead but she would never see him again A nice bit of symmetry there
Same!!! Omg. I watched this regeneration scene and didn’t even know how to function after. Matt was an imposter. It took me a few episodes to warm to him but I eventually did
The saddest thing about this is that apart from Sarah Jane, as far as we know the Doctor never saw anyone he said goodbye to again. Maybe he thought they might not accept him in a new body, or maybe he thought such deep emotional connections couldn't continue. But he died painfully just to make sure everyone was safe and happy. It's clear they all knew that he was going to die, and they probably lived the rest of their lives thinking that he'd died. And that is heartbreaking.
I like that in the Sarah Jane adventures they added that the doctor did stop with all of 10th’s companions and friends and went to see every single one
0:57 is basically the music telling the audience, “Alright he’s done saying goodbye to his companions and now it’s time to say your last goodbyes.” I really wish there was a piece for that
People miss this detail in this scene that in every case, 10th avoids talking or even interacting with the companions. He wants to stay distant but still say goodbye and drop a little favor. With Rose, he's desperate to talk to her but knows he can't give her a memory to remember... still just to talk to her for a moment, asks her a question. He's a TimeLord, he can tell the year if he wanted to know, this man can drop Astro-Biological data by just tasting the air of a planet (11th Doctor First Episode with River Song and Weeping Angels)
This was the 1st time that The Doctor struggled to head back to the TARDIS in the snow just before regenerating since he 1st defeated the Cybermen in the last adventure of his 1st incarnation.
No speech from the Doctor. Just really emotional music. This is why it is the best regeneration. Plus it's saying goodbye to the perfect Doctor. So it's like saying goodbye to THE Doctor, as the performance will never be topped. The Tenth Doctor is the Doctor
Good 'ol Rose, unsuspecting anything. But when she meets nine, and watch him regenerate into ten... That's gonna hit so hard. She will understand, she will remember, but she knows she can not say a single word. As for the Rose we knew, know, and will know, before she left. She didn't know this. She couldn't have known. It's now, that The Doctor has created a new paradox. Imagine this new Rose seeing nine becoming ten. Just imagine. What could happen? That is something, we will never know. Billie Piper, and David Tennant, Catherine Tate, and David Tennant. These two are the best duos ever. They were just... Different.
In Doctor Who, Time is not linear. The Rose you watched is the only Rose, and this is her. This is her in 2005. The Rose we watched did meet 10th before meeting 9th but she doesn't remember. Just like you don't remember the face of a stranger you interacted for a minute on the street on some random day years ago. You might remember the interaction if at all but no details. Think of the last time someone asked you for directions! Do you even remember? If you remember, do you remember that stranger's face? Their clothes? Their voice? NO
So sad. This Doctor dies alone….he was happiest when he was with others, but he is alone in death. I am a new fan but I think these last scenes are amazing.
I totally agree!!! 👍🏻the show has majorly declined since about season 8 to now 🤦♀️ I think it’s bcuz the UK casting agents r too lazy to look outside England for actors 😂 so that in turn brings down the whole quality of the show I bet if they actually put in some effort & tried looking across the pond in the U.S for actors they would find better quality actors which would bring the quality of the show back to where it should be 👍🏻
With the announcement of a female doctor there's something poetic about Smith's line of I'm a girl. Almost as if even way back when this was made there were plans in place for a female doctor
0:25 wait why did he ask? Doesn't he already know cuz he chose the date and year himself when he was in the TARDIS? Also does this mean that Rose saw 10 before she saw 9 regenerate?
