      Yeah, I was a little kid in the 60's and this is the country music I grew up with. Little did I understand the greatness I was hearing as my parents sang along. I have to admit I totally went Rock Hippy in the 70's and somehow thought my chosen favorite was "above" lowly country.

      I would say that there definitely is, it’s just that the music landscape has changed so the new country artists that are true to their roots (Colter Wall or Tyler Childers for example) are not part of the popular music landscape. Country radio is a joke and news outlets pay no mind to musicians like them. Just my opinion.

    • @onrywaymore104
      @onrywaymore104  3 роки тому +2

      @@BrentRushton There's talent, but compare it to boxing. Boxing used to be huge so you would have more kids wanting to fight and find fame so your talent pool was larger than today and a better grade of athlete. Same with this type of music, it is not pop or mainstream, so the talent pool to draw from to play this type of music just isn't as large or talented.

    • @BrentRushton
      @BrentRushton 3 роки тому +2

      @@onrywaymore104 while the talent pool may be smaller, I don’t think that there is any shortage of talent. The boxing analogy makes sense to a certain degree but when you consider that boxers who are the best get the most notoriety, that’s where the comparison falls off. The fact that you have a lot of independent artists that are better than what’s on the radio or pushed into Spotify playlists (where they would get the most exposure) is what I draw issue with. There are smaller artists doing country to what I would say is the same degree as many of the greats they draw inspiration from, and they are not being supported by the corporations that are supposed to be supporting their genre.

Marty Stuart, George Straight, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt. All up there. If you have not listened to Merle & George's album, "Kicking Out the Footlights?" Highly recommend.

    Love all 3 of these guy's! I think it was great to see how much respect both of these legendary artists actually had for their old disk jockey friend, Bob Eubanks.
    I remember being pleasantly surprised, especially with Merle, cause The Hag didn't show a lot of respect towards a lot of people, he was very standoffish & could be downright ornery sometime's. With that said, with Haggard & Jones sitting on-stage, you have 2 of the top 5 ALL-TIME Great's sitting on that couch! RIP oh Legendary one's ✝️
