Than-you for pointing out sulfasalazine connection; I was going to start the drug again as my iron was going up, except for swelling of my feet (especially left foot) with the drug I did not realise the drug was probably the cause.

I have leaky gut, I am barely absorping all the nutrients from my diet. I tried healing my gut with L-glutamine and it helped a bit. But I think I lack certain digestive enzymes cause of age. Did you try flax seeds? 2 tabkespoons a meal. I did this and in a week I was able to donate blood. Try cooked spinach, too. I think you need vitamin c to go with this. It's in carrots if you don't do sugar.
I have been taking digestive tablets since age 35, I found I was eating less because the food was actually being digested properly so kept that up. amino acids (you can get that from vegan protein powder and don't take the recommended dose but less and can tell with a 1/4 dose or with bee pollen that the amino acids are working by increased energy).

Mary High Yes it can. Iron supplements will help. I got some iron gummies from Walgreens. They taste like a sweet cast iron pan. Take 2x the normal dose until you feel better.
@@Mary-bw6go don't forget to drink orange juice while taking your iron supplement. Vitamin c helps absorb the iron, especially if you already have trouble absorbing. Avoid any dairy hours before and after your supplement as this can stop it from absorbing correctly.

A great thing to know is if you take or consume iron with calcium foods like milk or yogurt, it ruins the absorption. Take IRON with VITAMIN C. I was severely anemic and the drs were amazed how quickly I fixed that because I took Vit C w my iron.

I understand about 10% of this. I have so many rare diseases that I’m overwhelmed. Iron infusions help me.

How is your breathing? Energy? Concentration?

If your sister has IBD ,iron supplements won't help you as they will be eventually lost due to blood loss so you have to treat IBD
