      No sorry this isn't a combo modem/router. You need a dedicated modem for this router to project signal.

    Brother need your help. Trying to decide to buy this router. Sorry to ask you this question. I just need to know. Are you happy with this router? Will you recommend this to your family or friend? What’s advise or opinion on this? Please let me know please so I can buy this one if it’s worth it. Did you have any problem with this device?

    I bought this and it has less reach than my 5-year-old Linksys router (and that one has no external antennas), also I bought at BestBuy with huge discount, to find out that Amazon regular price is the same as the BestBuy discounted price, good thing I can return it. So far not very happy with it, instruction using a phone, I want to use my desktop not a phone. Also, I had to change ids and password to my old Linksys ones to have my WIFI devices and google home connect again... well, I imagine this last part is expected to get any newer router working. Reach really bad, also be careful with NetGear support, they do help but always want to upsell something (more support, etc.)

    Is there a reason why I only get 50mbps download on my phone but 900+mbps on my computer with Ethernet?
    I used to have a modem with wifi and it had speeds of 350mpbs on my phone alone

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  2 роки тому

      Do you have any other devices that use Wifi? I would test those and see if you can get close to 900MB if you're standing right by the router (actually being plugged straight in is always better, so if you can get, say 600MB on a Wifi device, then the router is good). You'd have to trial and error it. It could be the router Wifi piece that's dying, or something is wrong with your Wifi on your phone.

    Do you by chance know the difference between the RAX42 and the RAX43? I don't see any videos for it. I know the RAX42 has been discontinued but not sure if the RAX43 is worth buying over the RAX42. I see the RAX42 on clearance at a local store for $100 but not sure if it's worth jumping on the low price over the newer model and the hassle to install and update it to all of my devices. Currently using a WavLink AC3000. 2500sqft split level home with around 13-15 wifi devices and 6 outdoor wireless cameras running.

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  Рік тому

      Well first you need to evaluate your actual ISP. What speed are they paying for first? If it's a good speed internet, say 300MB or more, that would be the first step. If they are paying for good internet, then assuming their modem can deliver that speed to the house, then yes, this router would help. You need to have a good modem and router to be able to deliver good internet to a device.

    Yo I have frontier and I bought this recently I followed instructions but the wifi doesn't connect does this have to do with the company modem?

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  2 роки тому

      It's a possibility. You'll have to trial and error it and figure out where the issue is. Start with the modem. Connect a device directly to it via a cat5 cable in the spot that would normally be connected to the router. If you can get internet, then you know modem is fine. Then you'd have to figure out why the router isn't projecting its wifi. Obviously if you can't get internet directly from the modem, then fix that first.

    • @nukem384

      DSL isn't compatible with this router, that's why it's not working. DSL and cable internet are two different types of connections. DSL is an older technology, so if you have cable (like TV) in your house, your cable provider should also be able to provide internet.

      :( that's pretty much it. Maybe you can return it? That Netgear product you have seems to be a modem and router in one? This Netgear router in this video is just a router. You also need a modem to deliver the internet to the router so the router can broadcast the signal to all your devices. You're trying to go from an all in one to two separate products needed to do the same thing, so essentially you're missing one piece, that's why it can't work.

    What are the two buttons on the front for?

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  2 роки тому

      Top one is the Wifi on/off button. Bottom one is the WPS button. The abbreviation “WPS” stands for “Wi-Fi Protected Setup”. It is a method for simplifying connections between devices in the home network, for example between a router and a repeater. With WPS, the WiFi security key is transferred automatically and does not have to be entered manually.

      0:35 is the part you want to watch. You should have a cat5 cable coming from your modem. The yellow cat5 plug on the router is where you want to connect the other side of that cat5 cable to give the router internet.

    What are the white cable for

    • @nukem384
      @nukem384  3 роки тому

      They are cat5 cables just like the yellow one. Most of the time, routers have 4 slots for devices to connect directly to it. Like a “direct connection” to the intetnet. Directly connecting to the router rather than connecting via wifi is a more stable connection and the device will drop less.
