I bought a modem/router just like yours. I was following along in my Quick Guide but unknowingly I skipped a step. I searched around UA-cam and I found your video. And, through your video, I found the step which I had skipped. So, great video. You saved me much time trying to call Comcast. Thanks.
Thank you Scott Starker so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. So happy we could help you. That is what I try to do with my videos - Entertain and Educate. Have a GREAT Day.
Thanks for posting this review. It was great. Followed all your instructions and I am up and running. Quick thing to add, Nighthawk app also lets you rename your wifi router name to your old one so you do not have to reset all your connected devices. Awesome job!!
Thank you Brenda Lobo so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. So glad we could help. That is the main reason why we do these videos ... Entertain and Educate. Have a GREAT Day.

I just bought the CAX8/AX6000 last month and its a beast of a modem router combo. I highly recommend anyone buy either the AX2700 or the AX6000. The difference is, the AX27000 doesn't have that extra 2.5 GB multi gig port, whereas the AX6000 does. Also, the AX6000 allows for 8 Wi-Fi devices simultaneously whereas the AX2700 only allows 6 Wi-Fi devices simultaneously. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THE MOTOROLA MT8733. Absolutely horrible modem/router with terrible Wi-Fi signals that drop tremendously, and speeds on both bands. I had to return it to Best Buy and buy the NETGEAR AX6000.
Thank you GoldenEraHipHopForever so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment and share your experiences with our viewers. We really appreciate that. Have a GREAT Day.
So im trying to set mine up through windstream kinetic fibre network, but it was not setup with a coax cable. It isnt detecting the modem/router combo, what should i do?
I do not work for Netgear so I only have experience with my network setup, as I showed in the video. Did you check with your internet provider to ensure this model is compatible with their network, or to activate the modem after you set it up? If so, You will probably have to call your internet provider to see if they require extra setup steps.
Thank you @Nicholas-z6u so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. XFINITY is owned by Comcast. This is what I have, so yes, the model version I showed in the video it will work. I am not sure about Verizon. You may have to Google that. Have a GREAT Day.
Thank you @LaszloBagi so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. I did a little research, since I do not have VOIP phone service. This is what I found. Jul 2, 2021 - The CAX30 doesn't support VOIP phone services. I had VOIP phone service with AT&T and the AT&T modem ... The AX2700 and CAX30 are the same router, just packaged different in different countries. Hope this helps. Have a great day,
Mine doesn’t work, it says unable to locate a router. But it’s a dual though? I plugged everything in like it suppose to. The power, and the coaxial cable to the wall outlet and the modem router itself
So sorry to hear that. I have no ties to the company nor am I a tech so not sure how much I can help. Mine worked as described by following the step by step instructions, as I showed in the video. Did you contact your internet provider to get your new modem/router initiated? Only thing I can think of from the information you gave. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Thank you @SalvatoreEscoti so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. Unfortunately I do not have any inside information since I do not work for Netgear. I am simply a consumer of this product. Here in the USA we can call customer service of our internet service provider to see if it is compatible. I assume you can do the same? Not sure if you have the same type of customer service in the part of the EU you live in. Sorry I can not be of more help. Good luck and Have a GREAT Day.
Thank you @theking-wr5ny so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. Depending on the ISP and where is the country you live, they call it something different. We only had 3 choices at the time. Basic, Mid, and High Speed. At the time their high speed was not all that much faster that the mid level. I had basic and went to mid. This may not translate to what they call it now but that is what is was when I switched. Hope that helps. Have a GREAT Day.
Thank you @SalvatoreEscoti so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. Unfortunately I do not work for Netgear and I have no other information other than the box, which I purchased in North America, only references North American providers. Sorry I cannot be of further help. Have a GREAT Day.
Thank you @xXZabstractXx so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. You will have to contact Comcast customer service to be sure. The literature for the modem is a bit confusing. It claims to support internet plans up to 2Gbps but later goes on the to say they are currently "certified" for Xfinity for only up to 800Mbps. Hope this gives you a little help until you can get confirmation from Comcast. Have a GREAT Day.
I tried to install this modem earlier but for some reason, it wasnt connecting to my wifi. Tech from rcn said i may be a software issue so i gotta contact net gear. Wondering if any1 had the same issue.
How far along did you get with the installation steps? Also, I'm not sure who RCN is. I assume the business you bought it from. Finally, did you register the modem with your service provider? These answers might help someone assist you. Thanks.
I just purchased this same modem after reading great reviews for it on Best Buy site but I purchased it from someone on E-Bay at a lower price than BB. The one I received was made for Costco so I check the reviews on Costco site and it got horrible reviews and many mention it had software and firmware issues. I also have RCN (Astound) as my IP provider and tomorrow I'll try unboxing and setting it up but first I'll contact my IP to give them the MAC # so hopefully the set up will be easy and I hope I didn't get a bad modem like many others did from Costco.
That is interesting. The COSTCO ones should be the same but I do not work for Netgear or COSTCO so I do not know for sure. I CAN tell you that on the box, it does not say it is compatible with Astound (RCN) but it does not specifically say it is NOT compatible either. GREAT idea to contact your ISP before setting it up to ensure it's compatibility. This video has been out for a long time but the setup procedures should be the same as they were when I set mine up. Good luck and have a great day.
@@ResslerMania Since Astound (RCN) is my IP they have this modem and others which they recommend on their site. Their name isn't on any of their recommended modems because they are only in if I'm not mistaken 12 or 13 states. I just finished setting up the Night Hawk AX2700 and it took about 20min. So far no problems but hopefully I didn't get a dud modem like many others did from Costco from the MANY reviews that I read over on their site.
Question, should one get a modem with higher speeds than the internet speeds one get from the internet provider?...for example i get 1gb from my ISP, im thinking a 1gb modem would cap it, correct?... should i get a modem higher than 1gb?.. thanks in advance
Thank you The_Godfather so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. There are a couple different opinions on that. Some say to just get a modem/router that you minimally need that matches the current provider's speed, to keep the cost down. Others say to get the highest speed modem/router NOW to give to give you some head room if you decide to purchase a higher speed from your provider soon afterward. I tend to be in the second camp. I also suggest to buy your own router other than rent the one from your provider. Much less chance they can throttle you down in speed if they need the extra band width for a higher paying client like a local event vendor, etc. Just my opinion. Hope that helps. Have a GREAT Day.
The password is on the side of the unit. When setting the unit up, at the end you can do administrative changes to the unit, just follow the prompts if you want to make changes to them. Have a great day.
Thanks for watching and commenting. We already paid for faster service but we were not getting close to the advertised speed we were paying for. They offered to lease us a better modem and said we should get the increased speed we paid for. This sounded very suspicious to us so I decided to simply buy this modem/router to see if it was true. As you see in the speed test at the end, they were actually telling me the truth. Still glad I bought this modem/router instead of leasing one from them because I read that they tend to sometimes decrease speeds on the leased modems when demand is high in your area. It is more difficult for them to do that with an item you buy on your own. Sounds feasible to ME anyway ... and everything you read on the internet is true. 😆
Yes sir your welcome I know my provider spectrum is throttling my speed they keep making excuses thanks for replying I appreciate it 💯 enjoy the content 💪💪💪🫡🫡🫡
Thanks so much. I have throttled back on the unboxings over the last year but this coming year (2025) I an going to update some of my studio and field equipment so I plan to do an unboxing once a week and a travel video once a week (total of 2 videos a week), at least until I finish updated the equipment. 😀 Have a great day!!
Thank you @im_bored6883 so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. The ISP (internet service provider) is simply the company you pay to have internet service. They just make it a fancy name for some reason. Hope this helps. Have a GREAT Day.
