    I have a YT4000 and needed these instructions 3 months ago.
    There was absolutely NOTHING on UA-cam [or even the internet about this]. Everything said - Replace the belt. When doing so, the adjustment was displayed.
    Thanks, Dony.

    Replaced the belt on my 38" MTD mower deck because the blades weren't fully engaging. New belt didn't help. I don't have the sliding cable bracket like the one in the video but decided to remove then non adjustable bracket and turn it around and reinstall it. Put the cable back in the notch with the bolt loosely installed before you completely turn the bracket 180° or the tension will not allow it to be placed in the notch. Probably have worn pulleys causing the problem but they only come with the spindles as a single unit. The spindles are still good. Now the PTO lever works like it should and the blades fully engage and disengage correctly.

    Great video Dony., Have you seen many John Deere riding rowers, mine is a model 135, 42" deck, where the gas tank leaks?
    I purchased mine in 2006, I have not seen any leaks, but from looking at the videos on UA-cam, it's a real job replacing it. The old tanks had a seam on the bottom edge, the new tanks are one piece. Thanks!

    Great Video but how do you do with a old Craftsman tractor that has different setup like mine I change the belt for a new one but fits a little tight and when I turn the engine the blades turn too I checked online but my tractor don't have any setup to adjust the belt in this case what would you recommend to do.

    thanks for the video. i do have question it looks like very similar model of tractor . I am working with a Craftsman917.276642 Briggs & Stratton 20 hp intek gold 42in I am seeing Sparks come out from underneath the deck when I have the grass shoot tied up. if it wasn't tied up I wouldn't have noticed it. it happens once every so often. noticed it on a bright sunny day so it has to be a pretty good spark. it's a little loud when the blades are engaged more so than past mowers. but I didn't hear anything hit scrape vibrate. nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't see any videos on UA-cam about this so far. they are a few forms on the internet talking about it, there was talk of some kind of spark Gap possibly needing an adjustment they mentioned it was it was for using the engine to engaging the blades. mentioning it should be adjusted it could be igniting the exhaust fumes. I don't think i has that feature but figured I would mention it. obviously I'll check the spindles and pulleys if no one has any idea but figured I'd check to see if anybody had any guidance. thanks again

    Hey I had a question I hope you could help me with . I purchased a used Scotts 1742 Lawn Tractor and I tried looking it up in the manual but couldn't find the answer. On the Blade/PTO engagement lever I have to pull the lever further towards me to make the safety switch in order to start the mower. Should I have to do that? Or does the lever need some sort of adjustment to make the switch in its resting position. ? Thanks

    That adjustment looks ideal, get the best balance of grip under load and slip when the blades are at rest.
    Too much slip also creates heat and more unwanted wear.

    Hi I have a yard machine and my bracket appears to be welded to the deck. What are some options I can do to fix this. I have read quite a few owners bought new belts only to have the same issue.
    Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time, effort and rapid response!

  • @samsmall808
    @samsmall808 4 місяці тому

    Thanks for this. But my problem is not a slack belt when it is engaged but rather when disengaged there's so much slack the belt slips off the pully. Runs fine when engaged, but falls off when disengaged. I made the adjustment you showed here but it did not change the slack when disengaged. I put a new belt on, and it has the same issue. I'm now ordering a belt that's 1.5 Inches shorter than specified to see if that works and won't fall off when slack.
    Any other suggestions? Thanks

    That was set up wrong to start with, the idea of the hump is to stop the bracket from rotating by sitting in the slot, which is how you set it, so now the bracket is installed correctly.

    • @brucea550
      @brucea550 2 роки тому

      I tend to agree with you, it looks like it’s not slotted to be able to adjust it but to be held by the one screw. I don’t know, kind of odd design either way. That bracket can’t really rotate much regardless, given the alignment of the tension.
