In brother bear, there’s an end credit scene where they show the kid protagonist saying “no fish were harmed in the making of this film” and then show a fish swimming past screaming for help and the cub gestures to stop filming. Those fish were definitely sentient :)))
Yes, “in the making of this film”. The fish are sentient outside of the film universe, but not inside the film universe.
@@sonicinfinity1871 the joke was that it was a blatant lie.

For anyone complaining that he missed the quail in Bambi, the bugs in Lion King, Monstro in Pinocchio and the two main deaths in Brother Bear, the estimations for large counts cancel them out.
And MatPat Would Go Insane
Are Lion King bugs sentient though?
The quail scene is so dark and anxiety inducing that I feel he should of at least made a short comment about it. (And there is a confirmed corpse in it)
The lion king bugs aren't sentient

Home on the range was a great movie. I loved it as a kid. But I will admit I had completely forgotten that it was a Disney movie 😂
I think Treasure Planet is a movie that failed in theatres and is now a well-loved movie.
Theres a brilliant video essay on UA-cam called "Treasure Planet: Disneys Biggest Mistake" that goes into why Disney set the movie up to fail despite it being so good

Mat Pat, you forgot that at the end of Treasure Planet almost everyone from Silver's crew is dead. Also, two more deaths appear in the movie. Mr Arrow is slowed by a black hole and Scroops flies into space.
Yo, matpat, this theorist is right
freaky production let’s also remember that Treasure planet exploded... Who knows how many sentient beings were on that planet...

@@firezombie5516 Yes. Yes it is and it is god damn amazing.
Stephen hawking was proved wrong and what happens in a black hole is just you being uncomfortably in finely stretched out forever so he doesn't die
I say that Atlantis is the most deadly, since almost all of their entire civilization is destroyed in the first two minutes of the movie
Last time I checked, a meteor kills more people.
And most of the crewed expedition dies as well
But a large amount of that civilization made it out alive, but that crew did loose almost everyone
I totally Agree! I commented on my theory too, But Dident they like loose HUNDRED OF PEOPLE not including the dead ships and bones the leviathon ate.

15:14 YOU COUNTED THEM???!!
I’ve always said mufusa really needs to define “everything the light touches” because according to his definition thats the whole of planet earth, Mercury, Venus, parts of Mars and the moon as every single one of those celestial bodies is at some point experiencing being touched by “The Light”
Dinosaur easily has the biggest kill count. That movie has an entire asteroid impact that wipes out countless animals. No way Moana is going to top a meteor impact XD
if i had to guess it's gonna be something about Maoi (forgive the terrible spelling) moving the sun while will fuck up the whole planet maybe? i am grasping at straws there though, we will find out in the next episode :)

Genuinely upset that Treasure Planet is being referred to as a failure 🥺💖 I adore that film!!! It's literally a comfort film full of nostalgia for me 💖 so sad it was a failure in it's time...
Bambi has 82 you totally forgot about the bird that was also killed by a hunter flying to escape them while the other birds beg her to stay hidden. MatPat come on that scene scared the crap out of me.
I wanted to comment that too!
Mulan has already beaten the Lion King because Mulan herself causes the avalanche which kills 1995 Huns and she kills Shan Yu which brings her kill count alone to 1996 people.
That doesn’t even include the soldier Shan Yu shoots with an arrow (killing him) or the entire town that the Huns took out! Mulan herself beats out the entire lion king movie!
Edit: Also Shang’s father was killed and I don’t know if any of the guards were killed on the Great Wall in the first scene of the movie when Shan Yu attacks them.
Purlsama Dang, I forgot about how she killed all her army members
Kaili Samantha don’t forget the ancestors since technically they were dead before mulan was born
Shan Yu's army also wipes out most of the chinese army.
Yes fair point but dinosaur probably had more because of the meteor shower not to mention everything else that happens in the movie my money's on Dinosaur at least in terms of off screen deaths. (If he counted off screen deaths for the Lion King then he should do it for Dinosaur as well.)
Wouldn't all her ancestors count as well since there all dead

My bet is on Dinosaur. You said it yourself, it was an "extinction-level event"; extinctions tend to be pretty high in body count, last I checked.
The only problem is that the asteroid wasn't caused by a character, so all those deaths might not count.
We'll have to wait and see in the next episode, I guess
Was one of the criteria that the deaths had to be caused by a character? o: I don't remember

If I remember correctly a bird committed suicide in Bambi when the others were warning them not to fly up and to stay in the grass. Let’s just say that traumatised me once I realised that happened

The fish in Brother Bear actually are shown to be sentient in a scene after the credits so yes they should definitly count.
That was a joke. Koda was basically shown as an actor for the movie itself.

No it's a disney animation, duh
Treasure Planet only failed in marketing and being made at the wrong time. That's it.
Disney wanted it to fail in order to justify closing down the 2D department in the future and moving on to 3D animated films like Pixar. The marketing was trash and they released it between a Harry Potter film and their own Santa Clause 2.
So true

MattPatt's goal: To ruin your childhood in movie and video game form.
I'm still thinking Mulan is a contender because not only does she wipe out a Mongol horde with a single rocket, there's also the army of Li Shang's father that was lost and all of the villages the Shan Yu's Mongols pillaged and wiped out on the way in... and the army scout that's killed with an arrow. "How many men do we need to report?" "One." "Kill the other."

That honestly was the most disturbing scene in the entire movie and frankly many movies I've seen to date. We know that when people and animals get scared, they tend to do impulse things to try to get away, often getting them killed, like trying to beat the oncoming car, instead of stepping back or turning around.
Trying to save yourself, gets you killed. Sometimes staying put or simply moving a few steps is better than our flight instinct commands us to do.

What about all the bugs in the lion king that simba, Timon and pumba eat, i guess it makes sense to put it on the list because you counted the salmon?
Actually, his rule states that the creatures dying need to be sentient. Of all the animals in Lion King, the bugs are one of the only creatures without any lines (counting the musical number "I just can't wait to be king). Therefore, the bugs don't count.
He counted the rat from Lady and the Tramp, even though it doesn't speak or show any signs of human-like sentience... so the rule's kinda la-de-da anyway.
@@Kabbaway The Movie is literally about talking animals, of course he would count that just as he would count the salmon from Brother Bear.
@@erranareve but the lion king is based around talking animals as well and if he counted the rat, the bugs count too
BUT these movies show a clear distinction between sentient and nonsentient animals. In both cases, both kinds of animals coexist. He explicitly said that only sentient animals would count. The rat and salmon are not sentient, they don't even speak.
If he counts the extinction event in dinosaur, it's gonna win. If not:
Mulan has an army, a mounted division, a village, and some extra soldiers dying.
Atlantis has an entire civilization destroyed at the begining of the movie, the queen, the villains, plus that huge submarine sinking with most of it's crew.
Moana has the darkness that has been going on for a thousand years, grandma (she dies of natural causes, does she count?), a few monsters and maybe some of the kakamora?
Hercules has the hydra, the boar, the lion, the sea serpent, the cyclops attacking the city (presumably killing a lot of people, and then it dies), the titans and Meg (she revives, so IDK if she counts or not). The centaur is... debatable, I guess.
If Fundy knew about Treasure Planet's body count, he probably wouldn't have wanted to watch it with Dream so badly...
You are insane, man. INSANE. And I genuaily admire you

The world wasn't ready for it, like it wasn't ready for Atlantis
The movie flopped due to premiere dates. Treasure Planet was a summer movie, but was released in the late fall, early winter. It had to contend with Chirstmas and other movies.
That's what I'm saying.
I just didn't get promoted well at all, It is by far my favourite disney movie, and still to this day the most impressive visually in my opinion.
@@Aldoz again I know right?

4 words: Cretaceous - Paleogene mass extinction.
Isee Warburton what I’ve been thinking this whole time
