    Puss in Boots 2 was an amazing film. I was blown away with the animation, story, and the fact that there were 3 antagonists that didn't conflict with each other. I really hope we get another film like this from Dreamworks. It seems to be teased that Shrek 5 will happen, so hopefully they carry the momentum into that film

    Another thing that shows how powerful a Cat’s hearing is: Cats don’t follow you because they don’t need to, they follow you with their ears. Cats love to lay down in what I call “Sound Centers”, basically areas of a house where sound from a majority of the rooms nearby can be easily heard. That why if a cat is starting to get older and is starting to go deaf (as old cats do) they start to meow out of nowhere, they lost track of you and aren’t used to it.

      Unless your cat just enjoys your company and doesn’t want you too far away from them because it gives them anxiety. I have a cat with an anxiety problem and he is always stuck to my side like glue. I move, he moves kind of thing. He also likes watching the toilet flush for some reason? It’s kind of weird. Anyway, he’ll follow me everywhere I go, keeping an eye on me the entire time. Like he’s afraid I’m gonna get hurt without his constant supervision.

    Here's an interesting detail: All eight of Puss' deaths were a direct result of his devil-may-care attitude towards death - none of them were from normal occupational hazards for an outlaw adventurer such as himself. Puss never needed extra lives to continue his adventurer career to begin with; he just needed to stop being so reckless (Of course, having a couple of good friends to watch his back couldn't hurt).

  • @somethingelseentirely8948
    @somethingelseentirely8948 Рік тому +63

    Little late, but hope they read this theory.
    Death low key saved everyone. Throughout the movie he has the uncanny ability to appear anywhere, and haunting puss.
    At any time, he could have gone after Jack Horner.
    Maybe he sensed the potential death of all magical things in the future and seen an arrogant little legend as the one that could save everyone.
    He does seem to value life after all, pissed at puss for throwing away so many lives carelessly.
    He appeared and scared puss into hiding, where goldi and the 3 bears would eventually find him, along with purrito.
    He was wasting away into food and laziness, death could have came after him at any moment during the Mr pickles part. Instead. He kept agging puss into going for the wishing star. Why?
    He could get them to stop jack Horner and maybe even strike enough sense into puss to finally value his one last life. He could have let puss wish for more lives but called him out at the cowardice of it. It would have neglected addressing the lack of value puss had for his lives.
    Now I'm sure death would have no problem dealing and guiding countless into the afterlife, but it makes sense he would value life the most because he sees it, over and over and over again how fragile and fleeting it is.
    So nudging puss into the wishing star where Jack Horner was going to reach regardless was deaths gamble of saving everyone, or saving no one.

    An infection where the foot gets gangrenous and essentially rots away like a steak left out in the summer heat.
    And unless he gets an immediate amputation then that infection spreads via the bloodstream leading to massive multiple organ failure if not a straightup cardiac arrest.
    So yeah, just another detail to reinforce that point.

      That is only older than the average age if they're outdoor cats.. Indoor cats live past 12 on the regular, granted they aren't living on a MeowMix diet. There are several ways you can give them *responsible* outdoor time too for anyone concerned about that.

    I feel like they had Death explain that he was Death LITERALLY just because its an animation, and animation GENERALLY are sadly still seen as kids movies. So imagine you're a kid, seeing this movie, and wonder if that's actual DEATH. So Death himself explaining who and what he is is just a nice touch. It reminds me of how they had to have Yoda confirm Vader was Luke's father because they knew it would be comforting to the younger audiences to hear it come from someone on the good side.

    • @AlmeaCulpa
      @AlmeaCulpa 2 роки тому +25

      I could be wrong, but at least the way I interpreted it, Death wasn't going after puss because he was afraid of death. I mean, he wasn't really afraid until the actual encounter with Death (the character), so when Death initially fought him, he wasn't afraid. Though I suppose he could've been in denial. But I think he was going after him because because of "how" Puss lived his lives. He lived without any true care or regard for his lives. He didn't really appreciate any of his lives, he didn't really hold any respect for his life or death until the very last one. He was arrogant and believed himself to be fearless. Death stopped going after him not because he was no longer afraid, but because he changed his outlook. Remember in the speech that Death had at the end when he left Puss alone, he said that he was going after an arrogant thing who thought he was immortal, but that Puss is no longer like that.
      Sorta to extend on this. Death complained about the nine lives thing, but I don't think it's the nine lives thing specifically that he has a problem with, I mean all cats presumably have nine lives. It's how having nine lives can potentially make someone approach those lives. It can make them live their lives without truly caring about them like "whatever I have more of them". And Puss cared SO little about it that he didn't even keep a track of how many he had left.

    Not to be that person, but I do not think Meow Mix is the best food to give a cat. Not to say that it is harmful, but it has a few ingredients that would count as fillers, such as corn and soy. Such ingredients are some of the leading causes of allergies in pets. And while your pet most likely will still live a full, healthy life on Meow Mix, more quality pet foods tend to not have those filler ingredients and would thus be less likely to cause allergies and itchy skin in pets. For example, Blue Buffalo, Taste of the Wild, and Eagle Pack are all seen as top-quality foods that do not contain corn, wheat, and soy.

    • @Nargara

      I was looking for this! Especially since dry food in itself isn't the best option for cats either - in the wild cats usually get most of their hydration through food instead of drinking, which means that kibble can easily make them dehydrated. They don't have that natural urge to drink like us humans do. Wet food that's over 80% meat and doesn't include sugar(causes addiction) and empty fillers is the best option for sure!

      Banderas is 62. Keep in mind that anthropomorphic cats might live longer stronger lives naturally, lives aside. Or maybe the 9 lives only applies to cats like Puss, not the non-talking ones.
      It's hard for Puss to think he's "dying" when he feels healthy and fit, with no lingering side effects from his deaths. And since he always comes back as the same Puss, not needing to grow up all over again, he remembers that he survived before. Maybe he doesn't really think he died those times after all.

    I like to think that all the “wardrobe nerfs” as I call them, that puss uses are intentional because “puss in boots laughs in the face of death” and, about the hat thing, it does heavily impact his sensory by blocking his face whiskers, but, cats also have whiskers in the chin and front paws so it does make it harder for him to sense things but not enough to cause his death

    As it turns out, the sheer profundity of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish has moved me past the point of no return. In sincerity, I must admit I had tempered my expectations for this film. We do, after all, live in an age of creative and artistic bankruptcy, the time of cash grabs and assembly-line sequels galore. In spite of this, I can say with confidence that Puss In Boots: The Last Wish is, for lack of a more eloquent term, a perfect film. The script is wholly original, the performances are passionately acted and the animation is fluid as ever. With these factors among others, DreamWorks was able to create a truly profound and surprisingly poignant epic in Puss In Boots: The Last Wish.

    This is one of the few times I've actually stuck around for a sponsor. I have had pets nearly my entire life. And most of those pets were cats. Unfortunately, my parents live in two separate households, and my mom is not a responsible pet owner, so we've never actually lost a pet in a natural way at her house. But at my much more responsible father's house, we had a male cat named Meatball since I was 4 years old. And when I was 8 we adopted two others, females named Crybaby and Dina. Unfortunately, Meatball passed away when he was 12 years old. And only a year later, Crybaby got an infection in her uterus that we couldn't afford to treat. Since Dina was now the only cat for the first time in her life, she quickly became territorial and began attacking us, so we had to get rid of her. By the time they were all gone, I was 2 months away from turning 16, and my dad baught me pet mice for my birthday to replace the love I felt for my cats. The mice didn't last a full year. I've been without pets for nearly two years now and I get extremely depressed whenever I think about it. I've never not had pets before, and I don't have anything I can give that love to anymore. My friend's cat recently gave birth, and I'm hoping to get one of their kittens, but it's not set in stone. Here's hoping little Hastur can join my family soon

      Mice and rats are such hard pets, emotionally. They're amazing, but their lives are just so devastatingly short. I've had 3 rats and after the last one passed I needed a break.
      As for the kittens, if it's possible I'd recommend taking two. It helps with the separation and stress of a new place, plus they pretty much have a built in playmate for when you're busy or not around. Also, I'm not sure if you live where spay/neuter is routine, but if you are I would suggest getting that done with the new baby/babies at 5-6 months. Pyometras are nasty business and I'm sorry to hear you lost your cat to one. It also sounds like Dina may have been grieving along with you guys. You've had a rough go, but I wish you the best with any future critters!

    Matpat at it again with adding realism to a movie that's raw magic at full force.
    10:36 exact same clip we see the cape being torn from that grasp so we can cut that death out regardless. Maybe it was a somewhat cheap material so even if Puss were to get his cape snagged onto something, he'd likely tear away from it.
    Also Puss isn't really the stealthy or anxious type until he does get fear knocked into him.
    And half the time he does end up on all fours so his front paws can do the sensing.

    Something else to notice about death, while yes resembling the grim reaper more, and since both use farming tools, sickles also were a really big resemblance in Egypt, and mostly on pharaoh's. Khopesh is one that actually used them most. However that's besides my point, one of the usual positions that pharaohs were laid down in after death was with their arms crossed, or at least as they were resembled on the front of their coffin, and a few of them were laid down holding a sickle.
    In one of the scenes death holds both sickles with his arms crossed and his head looks a bit thinner and his ears perk up a bit more, sort of resembling Anubis, holding two sickles in a position that was resembled on quite a few pharaoh's coffins after they died.
    Later in the movie, he also combines them and turns them into a staff, said staff could actually resemble Anubis's staff that had sickle like looking ends.
    I'm not saying death is Anubis, but hey, he more resembles the grim reaper more if anything so yeah.

    Death representing how to appreciate lives

    • @tomdekler9280
      @tomdekler9280 Рік тому +3

      I think the more interesting way to look at it is how they are all typical villains but wildly different types.
      Goldilock and the Bears are affable and sympathetic villains like you see more and more in modern animation, Death is not so much a villain as a force of nature brilliantly embodied via horror slasher tropes, and Jack Horner is pure dastardly mustache-twirling Wario-meets-Skeletor cartoon villainy.
